What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Steps into the new year with a 6.0, that'll do for me.

I was hoping to spend the day contemplating becoming a pensioner and sorting out my balls, but my neighbour called yesterday and wants me to trim her bush. I haven't seen it but her husbands' hands have gotten a bit shaky so I'm hoping it's not too untidy. Hopefully everyone is doing the chillaxing thing today :)

Morning All. 5.5 at 0730. Had a lovely walk in Portsmouth yesterday and Nandos mid afternoon. Did homemade party food for evening. OH woke me up on sofa at 11.50 put a glass of champagne in my hand and watched the fireworks. Then Suggs started singing Baggy Trousers and I was transported back and had a little boogie round the sitting room.
Happy new year everyone. Stay well, safe and low!

Morning all and of course happy new year. I suspect my liver is still processing stuff from last year , plus of course theres the lack of sleep but hey its a good number 5.1

good morning all and a Happy New Year

4.7 today

late to bed because of the torchlit procession, no pitchforks @ianpspurs but sheesh it was windy! sparks from the torches blowing all over the place, fortunately there had been a rain shower earlier so everything was damp.

Quite a few people were at the short thanksgiving service with more joining during the walk accompanied by a couple of pipers and even more waiting down by the fountain to see in the New Year and to watch the fireworks which were set off along the harbour wall.

Following the fireworks there was to be hot soup and sausage rolls in the village hall followed by a ceilidh - bring your own bottle ;), ( mr. gee and I didn't go to the hall this year since we both have colds but last year it was brilliant  )

Mum is cooking dinner today so there is 'tiramisu' for pudding which is my low carb mocha cake layered with a mix of cream cheese, greek yoghurt and double cream whisked together with strong coffee, rum and a drop of vanilla, sweetened with truvia, then I've grated 85 percent dark chocolate over the top this morning.

I don't find LC cake as absorbent as the trad sponge fingers and it goes a bit soggy if you put the coffee and rum directly onto the cake so I put the coffee and rum into the cream mixture, layer it up and leave it overnight for it to meld together, it works :)

my spreadsheet says it comes out between 6 and 9 g of carb per portion, depending on how much you eat of course ;), about 1.7 g of that is sugar alcohol from the truvia

Hope the new year treats you well :)

Happy New Years, everyone. Hope the New Year brings each of you what you wish for.

Spent the New Year's Eve watching a really good movie and some funny videos (special request of my OH). Had an enjoyable evening. Cat started hiding in the closet around 11.30 p.m. Always feel sorry for the poor thing, but fortunately this is only once a year.

Posting a link to a sketch, we traditionally watch in Germany to ring in the New Year's Eve celebration. Must have watched this for at least the last forty years. The intro is in German, but only lasts a minute or so, the rest is in English.

@Goonergal -- Hope the docs can help. Keeping my fingers crossed.
@James1968 -- It's good to see that the insulin seems to be working for you. Great drop in your fbg.
@ianpspurs -- Thanks for posting the links again. It's great to have something to approximate a measure for insulin resistance -- as so few of us ever get a proper tests.

Blood sugars were 4.6 this morning and 5.3 yesterday.

A lovely pic, and a marvelous story and inspiration to us all.

Bravo...and a Happy New Year to you and all my OLF's on the Forum.

May the new year bring you & and your families, as much joy & happiness as you could wish for...x
no worries important it is shared I agreed so that others could see what is possible with LCHF

I'm very late to parade this morning after a very late party last night didnt hit my bed until 3am ish - so late up and was testing at 10.45am.
5.8 but I'm very very happy as was eating bits and pieces until about 1am and also was sabotaged a couple of times for example offered a pig in blanket on arrival when I was starving - it was 8.30pm and I hadn't eaten much so far and popped in mouth to discover it was actually a devil on horseback! Even worse I never did like them even when I could eat dried fruit and there were a fair few events like this!!
I am quite looking forward to normality again! I cant count the number of people who kept saying that their whatever had very little sugar in and that a little bit wouldnt hurt me!!!
Have a great New Years Day folks whatever you are planning - think a walk will be on cards later today.

Glad there were no pitchforks in the frozen north - gangs of heavily armed men roaming around in Discoveries here today. Not convinced they know the difference between pheasant and peasant myself.:angelic: Also, some clown managed to set fire to hundreds of tons of mushroom compost overnight. One can only assume they were using burning brands looking for the magic ones. - we too have knuckle draggers.
Even I, who dislike almost all desserts, especially tiramisu, could be tempted by that idea except does all LC food really need cream cheese??:banghead::banghead:

Dr Kipling wrote about intermittent fasting? ;)

Mr Kipling sure didn’t! (That might be a UK centric reference).

I don't know that Rudyard wrote about fasting ... cigars, yep, and a Maltese Cat ... do panthers fast?
Probably ... ;)

6.1 this morning after 5 hours' good sleep. I feel a lot better than I did yesterday.

6.0 yesterday (busy day so no forum time).

Meal out with family and friends last night. CHINESE! gulp! I made good choices, well as good as you can in a Chinese where mixed starters are involved!!! And duck in pancakes. I had 2 spoons of rice and a fork full of noodles plus a selection of the main courses on the table!!! I was 6.6 last night after 3 hours (didnt test at the table after 2 hours as basically didn't want to upset myself....maybe the red wine helped!). And this morning.....drum roll......ANOTHER EVEN LOUDER DRUM ROLL....6.6!!!! Im amazed. Just today to get over then normal service will resume. Today's dinner is a roast beef dinner. Lots of meat and veg. Winner winner roast beef dinner.

Happy New year to one and all. Wishing you all good health and happiness.

OK, the Tournament of Roses Parade is over, I've seen the horse troops and the Salvation Army band, now I'm watching "Bringing Up Baby" and about to make my first-ever low-carb pizza using a frozen cauliflower crust.

And must put on my shoes to go downstairs and get a Coke Zero from the machine to make the pizza taste better than I'm expecting it to ...
