What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning everyone. I am late on parade this morning, but my blood sugar was 7.6 on waking. Had a hypo during the night so had a bit of bread and jam to get my sugar back up to a reasonable level. (it was VERY nice!). Feeling fine now, so am going to get out the door to meet some morris cronies for a wassail to wake up the apple trees. It's great fun, then off to the pub for a late lunch. Just pondering the menu now. I hope that everyone is having a good weekend.

Old Apple tree, old apple tree;
We've come to wassail thee;
To bear and to bow apples enow;
Hats full, caps full, three bushel bags full;
Barn floors full and a little heap under the stairs.

Love the idea of wassailing. From our living room we can see acres of apple orchard and we have 12 trees. I have never heard of wassailing in this area. I do hear a constant chainsaw buzz at this time of the year for pruning. Have a great day.

Have no idea what is going on today. After my 12 this morning I went walking for an hour and a bit and now I’m 14 :banghead:.

I’m meant to be seeing a friend later for dinner for her birthday and feel worried to eat anything!

Gonna skip lunch and try to walk some more in a bit...

That's a lovely Wassail song! Much nicer than the one we get to sing today. Great fun all the same though. Might get some pix.

It's a bit of a way to yours, otherwise I would say 'invite us! we're not proud!' A lot of our garden centres and small scale fruit farmers down here in sunny Surrey/London have wassails these days as a mid-winter attraction for their customers. Pubs do them too for the spectacle. Fire brands and ale drinking. Very exciting.

Our wassail today is at a community orchard planted in a park by local people. Lots of tinies running around so no fire brands and carousing. Little bit more sedate.

Good Afteringnoon folks been a busy, woke to a 6.8 and another telling orf from Mrs J therefore out woodworking to keep out of her kill at a glance glare.
Have a good afternoon folks.
Ps I have reduced my insulin to help with my altered diet, treading the tight rope again.

I’m way too skinny really but at least I’m allegedly on the lower BMI limit, if anyone should care about such a metric. Fat is just a measure of stored energy. In and of itself it isn’t unhealthy to be carrying stored energy around. It’s exactly how we are designed to operate. The issue arises when your body starts running out of places to put it. Weight alone is not a marker of metabolic health and it would help if the media didn’t keep perpetuating the myth that fat people get diabetes.

Anyway that’s enough rambling and I’m kind of derailing. The sun has just come out and I’m off out for a walk in the fresh air :D

Enjoy your walk and don't stop by the store for a copy of the magazine I saw in the checkout lane yesterday. One of the cover stories was ways to prevent diabetes -- #1 was keep (or get) your weight down. Another # was eat a healthful diet, including plenty of whole grains. As Yul Brynner would have said, "Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera ..." ;)

Oh scores on the doors this morning...a not unexpected 6.2

Late night PLUS....

I had a moment at work....simple stuff i USED to manage well.
( Loved pressure so much..i used to have it for breakfast...:hilarious: )

where the pressure just got a little too much.

i 'felt' it in my body..maybe it just left me a useful reminder that the numbers may tumble,
but the 'beast' still lurks within, just waiting to remind me, if i forget.

""I'm STILL HERE, Sucker..You don't get rid of ME, that easily..:mask: ""

Morning...finally a good nights sleep...it's been an up & down week...blood pressure seems to be coming down cold on the wane...thankful for that & of course if it BP stays stable I can cancel my appointment with Dr Dreadful...exhausting when you have to 'fight' with those who are charged with our care to get what you need...not a great dynamic...woke to a 5.7

Nice to hear some good news on that front, @Bubbsie

shame it comes to us feeling that way about those who are meant to be there to help us.:sorry:

score, considering the worry and stress.....is a Good un.

stupid forum.

hate having to remember HOW to post a new thread..why oh why can't we just have a NEW thread link at top of forum page

anyway....

spotted this today..MIGHT make a good read and explain a little more about the INSULIN equation, and the issues with it.
DIABETESVILLE..DD

"What happens over time? All our organs start rotting from excessive glucose. Insulin resistance develops precisely to shield against this toxic glucose load. The reason insulin resistance universally develops in all organs and in all peoples of the world is because it is protective mechanism. It’s a good thing, not a bad one. This is the answer to the question we posed in Chapter 3. Diabetes affects virtually every tissue in the body because we are cramming glucose into every nook and cranny."
