That sounds like a nice sighting on an autumn afternoon. Havent seen the green ones but we often have the black spotted ones in our Scots pines and they were a real nuisance a few years ago when they hammer drilled the gable end brickwork at dawn. It was right behind our sons head in bed and at least it got him up early! We had to replace several bricks but put them off by hanging tin foil trays in the area.Nothing to do with this thread except in so far as many of my posts are a tad doom laden. I just saw 2 green woodpeckers very close to my patio doors. In 63 years I have never seen one and was amazed when google came up with an answer. See. I can do pleasure![]()
