What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Couldn’t stop eating today.

Breakfast - none

Lunch - unplanned. Series of snacks from the Coop. Bag of pork crunch, 30g bag mixed nuts and small bar of 85% chocolate.

Dinner - 2 Waitrose free range Cumberland sausages, 2 rashers bacon, 1 Birds Eye Burger. Followed by chocolate chia pudding with cream.

At least I’ve burned some of it off at the gym tonight. First session with the trainer since Christmas - have been to gym under my own steam, but that never seems so intense. Also walked 12,000 steps so feeling virtuous.

Protein/fat breakfasts always lower my BG. I always think it is because as soon as my body realises it is getting real food it can stop worriting about liver dumping to provide the energy to start the day.

This is why I started having coffee (now coffeesubstitute) and cream in the mornings, whether I eat or not - it knocks my rising BG to a flat line or a gentle decrease, instead of just rising and rising until I eat lunch. :)
You're right - coffee with cream does do it too. That apart the no bread sandwich is still a really good breakfast

No breakfast as fasting day
Lunch whoops - my son invited me out for lunch - who could refuse? - but limited damage had small flat iron steak and salad at beefeater couldn’t risk the dressings
Dinner cabbage, pepper, mushroom and beef stir fry followed by a small scoop of oppo vanilla thanks @Goonergal i found this in Sainsbury’s thanks to your mention and as my fave ice cream used to be stracciatelli I grated one 100% hotel chocolate button in to it! Wow amazing - could become addicted. The ice cream is expensive but probably good as otherwise would eat too much. Bloods 4.8 pre meal 5.3 2 hours after so not too impacting too!
Planning to try fasting again tomorrow I wonder if when it’s colder my appetite gets greater?

Glad you liked the Oppo. The chocolate hazelnut flavour is my favourite.

I’m definitely more hungry in colder weather.

I started with vanilla to check my bg after as it had lowest carbs but sure will move on to other flavours over time!
Maybe we’ll use the extra food succumbed to to keep warm!

Well, my 'zero carb/carnivorous' journey continues...

I have tried veg a couple of times in the last few days, and felt a bit uncomfortable, but no longer know whether this is because of that vile tummy bug I had over Xmas, or because my tum is complaining at the appearance of veg after 10 days of non-veg.
I have also eaten one small gluten free muffin, which raised my BG, but did not cause digestive upset.

So I seem to have a choice of meat/protein or carbs which will raise bg. So I am sticking with the meat/animal products.

Yesterday
coffeesubstitute and cream
chicken breast with butter, garlic and cheese
leg of lamb with bone broth and butter

Today
baked salmon and coffeesubstitute
one small kind nut bar (another experiment. no ill effects so far)
leg of lamb with bone broth and butter
2 squares 70% choc

What I am finding most interesting is my thirst.
For the last few years, I have tried to drink a hefty amount of water. The thinking was that it is good to have plenty of fluids when keto/low carb. I have gauged amounts by colour of urine, because I am rarely thirsty, and can forget to drink for hours at a time when absorbed in the computer or a hobby. I often used to think 'drat, haven't drunk enough today - again!'

Now, on virtually nil plant intake, my thirst has reawoken. I look forward to drinking. I find myself casually pouring a glass of water and drinking it absentmindedly. I look forward to it. And I look forward to the clean taste of plain water even more than the coffeesub/cream combo that used to be my favourite. Now I just see the coffeesub as a vehicle for a bit of cream first thing in the morning.

I have no idea of my calorie intake, or my protein intake, except that I am probably eating the equivalent of 2 medium chicken breasts a day, plus a bit of cheese. I haven't stepped on the scales for days. I have no sense that I may be gaining or losing. But I do feel good. Plenty of energy. Nil food cravings. I had forgotten about chocolate, until I opened a desk drawer and saw an open bar of Green and Blacks.

Am v happy like this. Which is a huge surprise.

Hi.

Breakfast - none

Lunch - out at a meeting. Pret A Manger Tuna Niçoise salad - ditched their dressing and added my own mayonnaise. Then my boss had brought some crestless quiche for her lunch and brought me a piece, so ate some of that too.

Dinner - M&S chicken souvlaki skewers (very tasty) with tenderstem broccoli and a small portion of cauliflower cheese followed by raspberries and cream.

Now contemplating a small piece of Montezuma’s Absolute Black chocolate with orange and cocoa nibs.

Do you not eat carbs?

My dietician suggests 40 g carbs for fast, 60 g carbs for lunch and dinner and 3 snacks of 20 g carbs each.

I normally take 20g bf, 50-60g lunch and dinner. And snack on cappuccino.

Please help me with a day plan my sugar is always very high it’s exhausting

Hi and welcome @elfar723 :)
Most (but not all!) of us posting on this thread are low carbing type 2s who try to control our blood glucose by restricting our carb intake.
There are other threads for different types of eating so everyone’s tastes are covered :D
We are just the group who keep our carbs low.

Tuesday ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and xylitol. A few dietdoctor seed crackers with butter.

Late lunch: Scrambled egg with goat cheese, green onions, mushrooms and fennel. Some homemade low-carb flat bread with mayonnaise and Northsea shrimps. Half a glass of red wine.

Snack: about 50g of 85% chocolate (about 8g of carbs).

Dinner: Nothing -- only another half glass of red wine.

So, far my experiment with one day or exercise and the other day off seems to be working and much easier to maintain.

Settling back into routine but forgot yesterday's as No 2 gets picked up at 11.30 for lunch before the trek to gym monkeys. Bed on Monday 6.1 FBG 5.6 so BGs getting more stable again.

L. Marigold Swiss bouillon.
D. 2 small chicken thighs from DD Keto chicken casserole. I added more green veg - broccoli, sprouts, asperagus, green beans. I also had a little Perfect World taste of carrot cake ice cream left which I had with 6 raspberries.
