What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

@shelley262 and @Goonergal -- congrats on your control.

About three to four months ago, I ate very little and exercised intensively (about 1 hour a day burning approximately 800 calories), but didn't lose any weight at all. I believe I pushed my body into starvation metabolism (also, ketones were really high and my blood had started turning acidic). After I reduced my exercise a bit and started eating a bit more, I started losing body fat again.

Thanks @ziggy_w . I think I am going to make some adjustments. Although I’m going to the gym regularly, my exercise hasn’t increased so significantly as I’m having to watch the amount of walking I do as my shin splints are refusing to go away. However I think the gym work is a bit more intense and needs a bit more fuel.

It’s clear that fasting on several consecutive days isn’t working and when I’m at work and need to eat when I’d planned to fast, although there are low carb options, I’m eating too many snacky things and skewing my protein and calorie intakes.

So, will plan on eating lunch more often and take it with me and see how that goes for a couple of weeks: so will fast on the weekends (always easier) and then perhaps on one weekday.

So on to today’s menu.

Breakfast - none
Lunch - unplanned and snacky! Bag of pork crunch, peperami, small bar Coop 85% chocolate
Dinner - it’s Friday so it must be fathead pizza with pepperoni topping. Followed by 2 squares Lindt 90%.

Celebratory day so went for three small meals and a snack!
Breakfast one 97% pork sausage and one egg fried in butter
Lunch advocado and prawns with a few crackers made from slices of Lidl protein roll - wow they were lovely I sliced roll into 12 just and cooked in oven only needed three for lunch - so low carb about 1.5 ? Thank you @PerfectStorm - rest in tin for other meals would be good for packed lunch @Goonergal
Mid afternoon slice of birthday cake - used @Goonergal s recipe but used coconut oil in stead of olive oil - wow what a discovery felt so naughty but a 16th works out at 1 g of carb! So good to join in with cake and enjoyed by all a keeper....
Dinner pork casserole and cauliflower cheese with a couple of glasses of prosseco planning another piece of cake later!
Well there has to be feasting to balance out the fasting and it’s low carb!
More importantly eldest son seems to be enjoying his birthday.

Sounds like a great day of feasting! Glad you enjoyed the cake. I use a smaller tin and fewer ingredients than in the original recipe. I’ve bought some really small (and cute) springform tins from TK Maxx so I can experiment with making very small versions - at the moment I end up eating cake all week!

Sounds good - not a problem in our house with boys and healthy appetites and they seem to be impressed by this nigella recipe- Nigella may be more of the influence than the low carb! Enjoy your experiments with smaller tins.

Bed 5.7 FBG 5.9. Started well today. Got boys to school/nursery. Quick bite to eat and fitted in Aqua fit. Played with No 1 grandson but then it was all downhill - just one thing after another. Ah well maybe tomorrow will be better.
B. Back to DD no bread breakfast sandwich and Tassimo Americano Grande with a dash of cream.
L. Nothing
D. About a tablespoon of mince, peas and a little cauliflower mash.
Few blueberries and raspberries.

Hello all.

Friday ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and xylitol. Cauli rice with butter, tahini, cumin and garlic, a merguez sausage. A few pecans with caramel (made from erythritol and double cream).

Lunch: Nothing.

Dinner: Out at our favorite tapas place. Two glasses of wine, mussels in spicy tomato sauce, fried sardines, some manchego cheese, roasted and salted almonds, some DD keto bread (which I brought along) with aioli.

Snack at night: Some Basque cheese and the last merguez sausage.

Friday. Seedy crackers with cream cheese and some pistachios sort of grazed on between 11am-5. Then chicken drumsticks with coleslaw about 8. Despite being dog tired in work with this flu thing I couldn't sleep until about 4am and slept until 11. Husbo had prepared massive breakfast which I wasn't hungry for but was low carb and delish....but its really upset my digestion and dont think I can face anything else today.
Can I add that the others had Friday night chippy and I never had a single morsel.....more importantly, didnt want any. Result in my book!!

Hi all.

Fasting as it’s the weekend. So no breakfast or lunch.

Dinner was brined chicken leg with cauliflower cheese followed by the last piece of chocolate olive oil cake with cream and a square of Willie’s Gold 100% cacao (a Square is 32.5g and 3.3g carbs) which was on offer in Waitrose. Pretty good but too expensive to buy regularly.

Hi all - after yesterday’s feasting felt better and not so hungry today. Working on eating only when hungry but at the same time trying not to put myself into starvation ketosis. Ketones more optimal today at 2.5 - had been between 4 - 6.5 over last week so....
No breakfast
Lunch - chicken broth with a few of the Lidl protein roll crackers with butter on
Dinner - chicken curry with half a Lidl roll fried in butter for my Naan substitute followed by a sliver of choc oil cake with cream
Maybe a treat gin and soda later!

Everybody here seems to eat next to nothing....I certainlly don't although my appetite is much smaller and Im no longer scared of being hungry. Are you all full from what you eat? Am I just impatient?

Hi Sue I think at times recently I’ve eaten less than I maybe needed -or wanted- as part of intermittent fasting - the idea being over past five months has been to eat the fat I already had on my body ie previous years overfeeding! My aim - now I can feel my bones again! - is to work at trying to get the balance right as my weight is now more normal there is less fat to fall back on. It is a work in progress for me just eating right amount to respond to genuine hunger but keeping my bgs in check and not putting the weight back on. Think it’s a bit of a tightrope to balance but I’m working on it!

Bed 5.6 FBG 5.9. No idea why I'm posting as my entire food for today was 1 slice Hovis low carb seeded , Philly and ham. 3 coffees.
It wasn't intentional. Just a very topsy turvy day that conspired against me eating. My Fitness Pal hates me but I'm past eating now and I don't even think I'll sleep as I'm so wired with caffeine.
Back to normal tomorrow I hope.

Breakfast: low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream with white coffee
Lunch: low carb pancake (made from Skinny Café pancake mix) with bacon and sugar free maple syrup followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: Hartleys 10cal jelly and black coffee.
Dinner: 1 slice HiLo bread with mushroom patè, raw cauliflower, brocolli and radishes and pork scratchings followed by mini low carb Victoria sandwich and double cream.

EDIT to add the pork scratchings

Saturday ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and xylitol. Half a DD keto roll with butter. A DD seed cracker with liver pate.

Lunch: A cornsalad with Caesar's dressing and parmesan.

Snack: A huge portion of carmelized pecans (caramel made with erythritol and double cream), a wiener sausage. Half a glass of wine.

Dinner: Nothing. Still stuffed from the pecans.

Hi all.

Really feeling the effects of yesterday’s gym visit - increased the time by 30 minutes, upped weights and assaulted my abs (not that there’s really anything worthy of being called abs at the moment). On top of that walked over 19,000 steps - supposed to be toning walking down a bit but it just seemed to add up over the day. For some reason BG also slightly higher than usual all day today and also hungry so ate an unplanned lunch.

Breakfast - none

Lunch - Five Guys. Bunless cheeseburger with lettuce tomatoes mayonnaise and onion. First time I’ve ever been disappointed in Five Guys. Meat was not as tasty as normal and the bowl they put the burger in had a vat of mayonnaise in the bottom - picked everything out and ate it off the foil cover!

Snack - 25g almonds

Dinner - leftover lamb kleftico, buttered broccoli and chocolate chia pudding with cream.
