Give diabetes an inch and it takes a foot! This may sound awful but here goes, I look at a plate of pasta or rice and an image of amputated feet immediately comes to mind and I make my choices accordingly. I'm strange in that way.
The patient of course!Who benefits if hundreds of millions of T2D managed to reverse their condition and becomes medication free within a year or so?
https://www.independent.co.uk/life-...-guide-food-and-drinks-industry-a7042251.htmlHi. This topic has long been discussed on these forums. The main problem is the influence of the global food industry. They fund many of the university 'research' programs which keep the Professors in business. Organisations such as PHE (Public Health England) go to the universities for dietary advice and guess what they receive? Carbs are cheap and very profitable. The recent Eatwell Guide update was signed-off by a committee consisting of a majority of food industry people (the Minutes are lurking on the web if you can find them) so is totally biased. The next level problem is that NHS Choices, NICE, BDA (British Dietetic Association) etc follow PHE advice and GPs and DNs are expected to follow it. Even DUK (the .org one) followed this advice until recently when it has started to trim it back. I've complained many times to the NHS, DUK etc usually with no effect but DUK did recently give me a much more considered reply. What a strange world we live in. I feel sorry for those who take the bad NHS diet advice and don't know about these forums. The harm done is incalculable.
Not loose weight! This is my weight loss on LCHF and it's almost a daily reduction. How can they say that??!!!Like you @Rachox I am a late comer to this thread. My Dr and Dn are interested to see my results after starting the LCHF diet again. I did it a few years ago and it was working but I fell off the wagon. This time I'm driving the wagon!! Also one of my neighbours is a dietician at the local hospital and when I told her about going on the LCHF diet her words "That is not safe, you need carbs to keep your body going and all that fat is dangerous. You will not loose weight and you will have no energy because energy comes from carbs" Well guess she is in for a shock in the next couple of months when I have my next HbA1c check! will keep you posted.

Oh I mentioned the word Blood with a "Y" on the end, did not know that was bad argggNot only have I heard of the Eat Well Plate. I ****** went out and bought the Eat Well Plate. I did actually follow the guidlines, being careful not to overload the Eat Well Plate, making sure that the potatoes never went over the line, and had a chicken breast the size of my palm. I still put on weight and was told that I was Pre-Diabetic. The Eat Well plate is now at the back of the cupboard never to be seen or used again

Yes, to think that I was eating like that for years after my Heart Attack, I thought that I was doing good and could not understand the weight gain.Me too! Low fat everything, brown rice, pasta and bread, high fibre usually baked beans, jacket potatoes and plenty of fruit and still wondered why I never lost weight even though I was eating ‘healthily’.
You said you followed the guidelines, but not those pertaining to using this forum. TutOh I mentioned the word Blood with a "Y" on the end, did not know that was bad arggg
I think you’ll find it’s an automatic censoring feature recently activated on the Forum. @DCUKMod will hopefully confirm this.Oh I mentioned the word Blood with a "Y" on the end, did not know that was bad arggg

Ah PHE and the ever delightful Dr Alison Tedstone.. my anti heroine..Also sprach Zarathustra.
I note that PHE has advised us to avoid red meats, so they too are ducking this language issue too. The word is Not Applicable to this thread. I yield.
Very well done on the weight loss and the patience you had typing out all those stats!
@Debandez I partially agree with what you say but I don't actually think docs do it for money, it's more likely they're ignorant about good dietary advice. I've challenged the "Eat well guidelines" and the dietitian thought I was extreme when I said I didn't want to eat fruitIt is blatently obvious that the NHS guidelines are so wrong for diabetics. And probably for people in general. But specifically for us. As diabetics we are carbohydrate intolerant so we have to keep carbs much lower than people who aren't. There seems to be an under lying reason that we aren't given proper advice and we are offered medication and not adviced to check blood sugars with a meter. Drs get paid more for patients on diabetes meds I believe (and even more when statins are perscribed). Pharma companies are also quids in as are diabetes organisations. Poor dietary advice keeps people sick and results in them needing more meds. Does anyone know whether the eatwell guidelines have ever been challenged. For example via change.org?
