What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Last day before I start trialling OMAD so I treat myself a bit!

Breakfast: CWC (Coffee With Cream, may as well make it a shorthand now)
Lunch: Bacon and two eggs fried in olive oil with a tomato
Dinner: Steak and chicken char-grilled kebab with salad and garlic butter

My goodness was that dinner delicious.

Hope the omad goes well. What time are you going to have it?
Your dinner does sound good.

Breakfast - Tea and 29 gms almonds - yes almonds (how the heck do you get 100% rda magnesium?)
Lunch: Tempura avocado and mushrooms thanks @maglil55 for Tempura idea - heck of lot of whey in there and bains here used the powder we had- slightly sweet taste in there but went nice and crisp. As a bonus made a pancake which was totes spiffing so a win there. Isolate ordered with 35% off from Bulk Powders - no flavour or additives as some has stevia
Evening meal - Brisket ( big mistake buying it from Morrisons but nice stock let over) few mushrooms and broccoli supermarket and h/g purple ( the purple was cut, cooked and eaten within 25 mins)
Tales of the unexpected: 3 days fasting this week reduced weight by .8 pound - lost much more last summer ( went down to BMI of 21.6 :arghh:); woke up 1-1.5 hrs earlier but went back to sleep - woke much, much earlier last summer; until this morning resting pulse hadn't risen - huge spikes last summer. See what happens when I repeat in June, Sept and Dec
Cronometer says 60 gms total carbs and 32 minus alcohol sugar net carbs
Only logic for the whey protein isolate is that it is lower in carbs than whey protein but, as you say, you can get it without additions. It crisps nicely though.

Home grown purple sprouting is food of the gods in my book, wonderful.
What about the red cabbage under the brisket? Did you decide against it in the end?
Last point, maybe you didn’t lose much weight as you are lean enough?

Evening all. Another cheerleading filled day so meals looked like this
B: 2 squares green & blacks mint chocolate with coffee
L: handful of peanuts and chunk of cheese
D: by this point I was so hungry so an insane amount of gammon with 2 fried eggs and 3 fried cherry tomatoes. Got some berries defrosting to have with double cream and chopped hazelnuts shortly too

Hope the omad goes well. What time are you going to have it?

Probably going to keep it to dinner time, usually too busy for lunch with the website admin at work so just going to skip it from now on and probably use the time to take a walk around the city. Thank you for the well wishes there too!

I cooked the red cabbage (under the brisket) but decided to use it for compost 7 hrs was way too much for it but it added flavour to the stock. Very pleased with purple sprouting as I lost my planting diagram and forgot what it was. Did spend a longtime on New Year's eve removing dead leaves and pruning. Re weight - bit of a porker actually.

Bed 7.2 FBG also 7.2. Still a bit high but I've given up worrying about it as it is stabilising and is fine during the day. Got my bread made but Hubby changed his mind over tiramisu so I'll leave that until tomorrow as I have a load of clams. The giant prawns are also in the freezer for another day. A good day at swimming and we are snow free again.
B. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream. 2 koftas.
L. 2 falafels when I got back from swimming/recycling + Tesco with son.
D. Usual Sunday Campari & Soda. Having made bread we have had bruschetta with chopped mixed peppers. Mouth and breath is very garlicky right now.
Oomi noodle a la vongale. Soften down chopped shallots, garlic, tomato, red chilli in olive oil. Add a mini bottle white wine. Reduce a bit then pop in the clams (which are in cold water currently), cover and cook until they open. Spaghetti cooking in another pot for the rest. For me transfer some of the sauce/clams to another wok, add the oomi noodles and warm through. Add chopped parsley at the last minute. Season to taste.
Might have berries later but am enjoying the taste of garlic right now.

The word for today is desensitised. Had to explain it to No 2 who has a terror of bugs so that was a good one to explain desensitise. Not sure it would make him like bugs but he knows what it means now. Decided against showing No 2 the crunchy boys @DCUKMod came across as they would fail to desensitise.

Me too. It reminds me of lovely family Christmases when I was young - mum bought a jar of pickled red cabbage every year.
We had 2 of the big old sweet jars. 1 was for red cabbage and 1 was for pickled onions. Both amazing with all the cold meat - musical Christmases of the past eh

I love pickled cabbage and onions. I have some Lancashire roots (on my mum's side) and I have happy childhood memories of steaming lamb hot pot with pickled cabbage.

Today has mostly been about getting ready for a much needed short break in Wales at my parents' caravan. All being well, we're heading off tomorrow. I found a use for the rhubarb, but it's all gone! :arghh:

Breakfast: Vanilla chia pudding with roasted rhubarb and almonds. Coffee.
Lunch: Cooked breakfast at a local café. I did partake in a slice of toast, but Mr B was all about the egg, bacon, sausage and black pudding. Americanos with cream, of course.
Dinner: Same as last night, Thai green chicken curry and cauli rice. Rhubarb fool for pud. It was just whipped sweetened cream and puréed rhubarb sprinkled with almonds and freeze dried strawberries. It was gorgeous!

Hi all.

Another carnivorous OMAD day.

Dinner was slow cooked ox cheek. Thanks for all the tips, it turned out perfect - delicious and really melting in the mouth. Some left (not much) for another day and glad I bought 2 cheeks too. Subsequently had 40g extra thick Jersey cream. Really HTS after a long day sorting out stuff - getting rid of stuff before the decorators come in a couple of weeks. @DJC3 I’m also busy posting on eBay and freecycle. Also did a record-breaking trip to Ikea. In and out in 40 minutes. The walk to and from in the sun was enjoyable too.

@BibaBee do you think the Nutella could be made using pre-bought hazelnut butter (Meridian do a crunchy version) and mixing with chocolate?

I think you'd end up with something similar, but it would be quite thick. To get it more gloopy, you could add some extra oil. I used avocado oil, but I've picked up some hazelnut oil for our next attempt.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: roast chicken, one small roast potato, mixed veg and gravy thickened with flax, followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.
Mid afternoon: chocolate phd bar and black coffee.
Tea at ILs: cold meat, cheese and salad buffet followed by one Jaffa cake!

Glad the ox cheek turned out well, how long did you cook it in the end?
I’m finding facebook marketplace is better than ebay for selling stuff now, Especially if postage will be high as you just join local groups in fb so buyers can collect.
Must be a record Ilea dash!

Hi all another busy working day but managed to avoid snacking today on the nuts and high percentage choc unlike yesterday!
Breakfast one Waitrose 1 pork sausage and egg
Lunch tin of sardines in olive oil with lc seeded crispbreads followed by sf jelly and yoghurt ( need to make new batch of crispbreads in the morning!)
Dinner steak, few tomatoes and onions and mushroom sauce with glass red wine followed by lemon mousse and yoghurt.
@BibaBee hope you manage to get away for your break sounds fun provided weather settles. Looking at your rhubarb mousse makes me think about buying some rhubarb rather than waiting for my crop!
@PenguinMum youve had it tough recently sure it will settle soon x

Not a good morning foodwise.:bored::depressed::greedy: just couldn't stop eating. Breakfast, yoghurt and berries, second breakfast: raspberries and coffee. snack, whole packet of dark chocolate florentines (6) snack: 2x granola with milk and cream, almonds. stopped eating at this point. several glasses of water, few cups of tea, then on to wine
My self destructive streak taking over? Just bored? Lonely? Howling winds and rain, sick of being stuck indoors?

update
There is good news as well.
Mum is allowed to leave her sling off for part of the day now. And had a visit from my son and partner last night.
He looks a bit tired, but it was his first real day out, since he was taken ill. He still has pain from one lung which is inflamed, but recovering nicely and expecting to start his new job on monday as planned.
Mr Slim will be home tomorrow:happy::joyful:
and we have a potential competion date - in about two weeks, with an alternative for three weeks.
