What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Evening all. Mid way through my Halloween baking. One batch of cakes done. Another cooling and 3 strays in the oven. Cakes are lemon, courtesy of @SueJB ’s recipe. The icing is @maglil55 ’s recipe with more than a dash of food colouring, Ghoulish decorations are courtesy of Hotel Chocolat.

And what have I eaten? Breakfast of bacon, eggs and cheese. Then mid-morning some salted almonds. Lunch of garlic Parmesan chicken wings. Had thought that would be enough but hungry enough now to be eating some M&S rollitos. The cakes may also have to be sampled.

Great looking cakes. Did they taste as good? They look better than my efforts with Em's assistance - a bit untidy, I have to say. Sorry - no photo, I don't have an operational camera. Em and my great G Son and GGDaughter wanted to take them home tonight, but the icing isn't set yet so they'll have to wait until tomorrow.

The braised shin of beef turned out very well. Gravy not as good as my grandmother's, but she used proper beef stock (jelly) and flour so it was thick and unctuous. Must try to find something to give the same effect. Lots of bone broth to finish off tomorrow but I have realised that I don't have a marrow spoon but will try one of my long-handled teaspoons, using the handle end.

Yes. Tried one and very tasty. Nice and moist, lemon eye and not too sweet. The chocolate vampires are 70% chocolate and just on the cusp,of being too sweet, but for a work audience they’re about as dark as I’d go.

Lunch yesterday: Yabbies from the dam out at the block on the barbeque.

Dinner: Steak and veggies, gravy.
Breakfast: Usual omelette, bacon, tomatoes.

Drinks: Black coffee no sugar, water.

Brunch had some fruit bread with butter and ricotta cheese with black coffee. I know not LCHF but it is what I'm tolerating. Went up the road and brought some gifts happy with the purchases. Just help my sisters like them!! Came home was a bit pickerish so had celery sticks with pate peice of cheese and black coffee. Dinner I made my version of thai beef salad. And drank water with my meal. I also will have some saurakrate and kambachu later tonight I'm founding these are helping my UC. 20191031_181719.jpeg

Toothache set in and intensified today - stress related tooth grinding and possible infection setting in - just accepted that I need to contact dentist first thing!
Brunch tried soft reheated chaffle with soft egg - soft being the operative word!
Dinner cooked but wasn’t able to eat the lamb - even though it was loin - but did eat the soft warm cauliflower rice with cheese followed by sf jelly with yoghurt.
Hope all goes ok at the dentist good luck

Good morning all.

Thanks so much for all the fabulous birthday wishes, @Goonergal, @shelley262, @DJC3, @ianpspurs, @Annb, @annabell1. (Hope I haven't forgotten anyone).
@ianpspurs and @Annb -- Thanks for the explanations on the British healthcare system -- now it makes a lot more sense.
@shelley262 -- Keeping my fingers crossed that your tooth gets better.
@Goonergal -- Great cupcakes, they look yummy and spooky.
@Annb -- Hugs for the nightmares, I imagine it must feel like being caught if you can't wake up.
@maglil55 -- Thanks for the explanation of TAG with ADOC -- I remember the time when we all abbreviated our morning drinks.

Yesterday, my blood sugars were unusually high for me (stayed close to 7 almost all day), something I hadn't seen so far. Didn't eat much all day (wasn't even hungry) and by late evening they had returned to normal. Was it the overload of meat on my birthday, lack of exercise for three day, stress at work? Or a combination of any of those?

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol and half a tub of liver pate (60g).

Lunch: Nothing.

Dinner: The other half of the liver pate (60g) with a glass and a half of red wine.

Hugs for the higher than usual bg yesterday - it happens to me quite frequently and I’ve never really figured it out.

Hi All
@ziggy_w I seem to have missed your birthday so here’s another good wish. I can empathise with you and @DJC3 about the rogue levels. It happens to me also though like you it does eventually reset if I am careful. Todays eating will be (has been)
Breakfast: usual LiveLife toast, thick butter, tea x2.
Lunch: Small salad with either tined fish or h/b egg and a buttery cheese scone.
Dinner: Reheated chicken thighs, red pepper in tom sauce casserole (small portion for me mainly cos it shrunk in cooking) and tenderstem brocolli.

Did any of you make the Keto cheese scones and did you like them?
@shelley262 hug for the toothache and hope the dentist fixes the problem pronto.

Haven’t made the scones yet, but hopefully this weekend.

Early post for me today to help me draw a line under today’s meals. Hopefully will last til tomorrow dinner but realistically it’ll be lunchtime I expect. Woke up to a high fbg and also discovered I’ve put on a couple of Kg in the last few weeks. So a bit of IF seems called for.
9am Scrambled eggs on marmite toast ( Dr Almond Farmers toasting bread)
3pm Airfried chicken leg with halloumi chips and a dollop of h/m mayo.

Very quick update
Bad news at dentist I’ve a large abscess on my tooth root and around the bone hence pain, throbbing etc. He won’t be able to redo the crown because of this even when it heals. So it’s antibiotics until sorted then extraction and eventually expensive Bridge work! All very daunting.
Difficult to eat so little eaten today mainly drinks may try something soft soon as need to eat with antibiotics so need to try something. Planning on resting up and letting tabs and body put me right hopefully.

Oh dear thats not good. The only thing is I do think dental treatment is so advanced to what it used to be the worst part of a bridge will be the cost. The most important thing for you right now is to get ease from the pain and get rid of the nasty infection. Do take care. Sending you hugs.

@shelley262 so sorry to hear about your tooth troubles. An abscess on the root can be horribly painful and even pain killers don't do much. I hope the antibiotics do some good very quickly.

Food today - tea and diltiazem, tea, tea and co-codamol. Bone broth at 2 pm. More tea x 2.

Currently in the oven - an experiment: something like spinakopita but wrapped in cabbage leaves rather than pastry. Filling is cottage cheese (I'm not keen on feta - too salty), eggs, spinach and toasted walnut pieces. Just realised I forgot to put grated nutmeg in. Not sure how it will work out - if it's a disaster I can always fall back on the braised shin from yesterday. I need to get some more fluid in before bed time. Not a lot of milk left after Em raided my fridge after school so I may have to resort to horrid tapwater.

No one / beggars knocked on our door last night either, they must have learnt from last year when they got hosed down. :meh:

@shelley262 hug for dental problems; @DJC3 you'll be fine. B=tea; midday=almond milk cocoa; L=cheese on skinny bread toast with tommy k; Eve=avocado and mackerel salad. Another day where food didn't actually matter much. Pre brekkie exercise bike, 2nd cousin called in to wish us luck in our move and nice chat while on dog walk would have offset most LC food days. Hope I'm not wasting the good food days. Not feeling the luv for the start of frez up my ninny days.

Evenin’ All

mistimed my food and exercise today, so dipped into hypo territory around midday. No test to verify, but I know the feeling well.

B: coffeesubstitute and cream. Less cream than usual (1st mistake)
L: waited til after a brisk walk into office, and back, plus hassle whilst there (2nd mistake) then decided that choc was the answer (3rd mistake, but brain function suffers when hypoing, doesn’t it?)
D: made a huge cauldron of stew for feeding us and the freezer.

am now very, very full :D:D:D

I like the sound of your spinakopita Ann. Hope it works, please post a photo and more details if it does.

I feel for you, toothache is awful, and so is the cost of dental treatment. Maybe some soup to see you through the next couple of days would be a good idea. I hope the antibiotics work soon. Sending hugs your way.
