What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

It’ll come down nicely once the crispy cheesy pasta effect has worn off Im sure. It’s a constant battle isn’t it?
Dennis went for his first big boy’s groom today as he had a lot of matty bits after wearing his cone for 3 weeks. They had to clip him really close and now he looks very funny, like a completely different dog - I thought they’d given me the wrong one!I’ll post a before and after photo in the morning chat thread.
Good old Dennis!

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Linner: Greek yoghurt, coconut chia pudding and macadamia and coconut keto granola.
Late afternoon: white chocolate carb killa bar and black coffee
Dinner: cold garlic and herb chicken with cauliflower, broccoli and sweet pepper salad followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.

Lunch yesterday: Liquid lunch at the block, icy cold XXXX Gold stubbies, toasted sandwiches.
Dinner: Pork chops, astd veggies, pan juice gravy.
Breakfast: Usual c&m omelette, bacon, tomatoes.

Drinks: Black coffee no sugary stuff, beer water and lots of it.

Seeing as we have two UK pension paydays this month (period 13), we bought 10000 litres of water for the water tanks out at the block. Filled the main tank up at the shed, and the rest we run into the dam for the wildlife that live on it to have a decent drink, they said "thank you boris"...

@annabell1 -- Happy birthday. Hope you'll have a ball tomorrow.
@shelley262 -- Hugs for the toothache. Hope the antibiotics kick in soon. Second the suggestions of soup or stew, maybe cauliflower mash or scrambled eggs might work too.
@PenguinMum -- A big hug for the birthday wishes.
@DJC3 and @PenguinMum -- Definitely empathize with you on days with higher blood sugar levels. A bit frustrating, isn't it? Especially when you don't really know what's causing it.
@Goonergal -- Thanks for your kind wishes, fortunately everything is fine. Blood sugars have been back in the normal range the following day, but have been eating less than usual on Wednesday and Thursday.
@Annb -- The spinokopita looks absolutely stunning.

Yesterday ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol. Spinach with onion, rendered beef fat and three fried eggs.

Lunch: Nothing.

Dinner: 90g chicken liver pate. Two glasses of dry red wine.

Stomach grumbled around 5 a.m., so had a bit more chicken liver pate and a slice of gouda.

We had a holiday today, and almost missed it. Was definitely planning to go to work. Fortunately, talked to a student the night before about meeting her during office hours today and she was surprised that I was planning to be there on a holiday.

Much more food today ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol.

Lunch: Ground up ribeye with low-carb ketchup and spiced red cabbage.

Dinner: One DD keto roll with butter and gouda, half a DD keto roll with butter and smoked duck breast. A few peanuts to tie me over until rolls were ready in the oven. Three glasses of dry red wine. Oops!

Morning all. Didn’t get to post yesterday.

Happy birthday @annabell1

Glad you’re feeling ok @ziggy_w

@ianpspurs I can assure you that there will be nothing vegan about today’s food intake, but more of that later.

Yesterday started and ended with a Halloween cup cake. One early morning at work, one in the evening in a hotel bar with a friend. In between meal 1 was bacon, eggs and cheese, with snacks of a tiny pack of peanuts and a bag of M&S pork crackling on a train, and meal 2 was a small bunless bacon cheeseburger with mayonnaise and grilled onions at Five Guys.

thank you to everyone for your lovely birthday wishes @PenguinMum @Annb @ianpspurs @DJC3 @ziggy_w @Goonergal if I have missed anyone I thank you as well.

today was a lovely day I got out of bed at 10am still not very hungry so breakfast was a coco smoothie with berries and a black coffee. I did some gardening as one of my birthday gifts were some petunia flowers so I potted them in a pot and did a few things in the garden. I decided for dinner I will make my curry chicken that I haven't made for a while it so good it's a recipe from Charmane Solomon a Sri Lanka recipe Kukul Mas Curry, so wrote up a shopping list to make the curry and went up the road to buy ingredients. brought chicken, spices and T-Bone steak as they were on special and a few other things. On my way home one of my sisters who I saw yesterday for lunch invited me to go over for dinner with her and the family for BBG. So I accepted I will make my curry tomorrow! When I got home one of my brothers also rang so had a lovely chat with him. By then was feeling hungry and my BSL was 4.2 mmol/l four(4) hours after my breaky l still had some leftover smoothie so had that another coffee and a few nuts.

Dinner was bbq chicken thighs and drumsticks with a green salad potato salad and bread. I've really been eating more carbs than I should last few days. After dinner My sister surprised with a lemon tart for my birthday cake so had a slice and coffee. Was a lovely night...

I hope to get back to my LCHF/PALEO woe tomorrow I certainly notice a difference when I eat too much carbs though....

It's now 12:45am I'm finely feeling tired so I think it's time to try and get some shut eye.

Good night all. PSX_20191103_001424.jpeg

FBG 4.5 this morning after 5.2 last night. Must've done something right, but I don't know what.
Tea first about 6.30 then some more with some of my pills about half an hour later. The car has to go to the garage on Monday, so Neil decided to take me for a small amount of shopping this morning for more urgent things. Decided to have a digestive biscuit to make sure BG didn't drop too low while I was out. Felt a bit odd when we came back but checked and BG was 7.4, so it wasn't that. had a cup of tea and fell asleep in the chair. (Up every hour during the night for toilet.)

Lunch was 2 chicken thighs - cold - out of the freezer last night. I was going to make a salad with it, but didn't feel like bothering. Some more tea with Metformin. Finished off 2 trifles and a queen of puddings for No 2 son to put in their freezer - made from leftover cake, which I can't bear to waste. He just came with 2 baskets of washing to put in the tumble dryer - theirs went on fire and had to be dumped a couple of days ago and the washing was on the line when the latest big storm arrived and bent their whirley dryer and soaked the washing! Such is life in the Hebrides. It's too wet right now for my ironing to be carried out, so it is still sitting in the hall waiting for my son to take it to his house for ironing.

I have some bone broth left for later and I hope I shan't need anything else tonight, other than fluids to get my quota in.

Sounds like you had a lovely day. Glad you enjoyed it - you deserve to. And lemon tart for a birthday cake - great idea!

Hi all
Toothache bad yesterday from abscess but definitely pain is milder today. Wouldn’t like to eat anything firm with it but crossing fingers that I’m on the mend. Mind you still difficult toothtimes ahead once infection cleared up and onto next stage of treatment. Still much happier for now with less pain. I’ve had to properly rest for a few days too with OH doing the caring and chores and it really is a treat and good for me lots of reading and feet up time - must be two years+ since I did so little exercise ( my steps yesterday a mere 500!) ...... I’m normally not Ill thankfully and very very busy so it’s odd for me but needs must.
No full meals to report have been sticking to soup, coffee with cream and scrambled eggs with melted cheese thank you all for your good wishes and helpful ideas. Hope to reintroduce some more proper food tomorrow if improvement continues.

@annabell1 your birthday sounds as though it turned out perfectly - good for you and your siblings. @shelley262 hug for ongoing dental issues but glad pain seems to be subsiding. So today I consumed: Tea for B then a CWC after the supine surrender aka rugby. L= cheese and coleslaw sandwich (skinny bread) with some cucumber. Evening will be mackerel and avocado salad. May not be too varied or instagramable but essentially I can stay LC sticking close to this. Does beg two questions : is it can vs should? and is it bg/A1c versus bigger picture?

Glad the pain is subsiding @shelley262 and that you were able to put your feet up for a change.
It was nice to see you had such a good birthday @annabell1 it sounded perfect.
Today I woke with a disappointingly high fbg after yesterday’s Omad. Thought I’d try again but cracked by 13:30 as I was cold and wet so had scrambled eggs on marmite toast ( Dr Almond Farmers toast)
Dinner was leftover pork stroganoff and roast sprouts I found in the back of the fridge. Then sf jelly&cream with 100% choc grated on top.
Off to watch Strictly at my daughters in a bit, and Granddaughters have been working on a show they said they are going to put on for us when we get there. That’ll perk me up.

Really like the way you roll sir
The block has a lot of Australian fauna that needs a drink daily, and as it is fenced they cannot get out and go elsewhere.

We removed 20 - 30 kangaroos a month or so ago to make the water in the two dams last a longer, so the smaller ones to get back to full fitness and get released back into either the state forest area or the national park.

I do not know about a roller, but I had my money on the 'boks...:D

Evening all. Very indulgent day today, involving two Hotel Chocolat hot chocolates with cocoa whip, a small bunless bacon cheeseburger with mayonnaise and grilled onions at Five Guys and an all you can eat Brazilian meat feast at Rodizio Rico in Birmingham. Feeling very full.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: bunless cheese burger with bacon, mushrooms and mayo.
Mid afternoon: 100% hot chocolate at Hotel Chocolat
Dinner at Rodizio Rico: salad plus multiple cuts of meat.

@annabell1 -- Sounds like the "perfect" birthday. Glad you enjoyed it.
@shelley262 -- Good to hear the toothache is abating. Hope it'll be gone by tomorrow.
@Annb -- Hugs for having to get up every hour last night.

So, in spite of whining and moaning about my small kitchen, I went overboard and invested in two new appliances.

The first is a sous vide stick. (On sale for half price at Aldi.) Hope I can use it to make yoghurt (can be set anywhere from 30 to 95 degrees), might even work for some other stuff.

The second is a pasta machine, thinking of using almond flour, psyllium husk and eggs to make the dough. Does anyone have a great low carb pasta recipe? Also contemplating to make some tortillas and thin pizza base.

Today's food ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol.

Lunch: Half a DD keto roll with butter and gouda, the other half with butter and bresaola.

Out during the day and two glasses of red wine at a wine bar.

Late dinner: A Big King XXL without the bun. Two squares of 85% chocolate.
