What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I think you’re right, perhaps not trying to swap like for like is a better plan. Who makes the turmeric tea?
Occasionally I can get hold of fresh turmeric root and I love a tea made with that and a couple of slices of ginger.
Twining so in most supermarkets or on line.
I never was a fan of black tea and like chosing my herbal to suit my mood/situation

Second day of holibobs! Usual breakfast, coffee shop coconut cappuccino and a carb killa, late lunch of chicken drumsticks and salad. Dinner at an Indian restaurant, I’ll let the picture speak for itself again. (Blood sugars 5.1, then at one hour 6.6, then at two hours 4.9)

No breakfast
1st dance class
L: 2 slices cheese on Hilo toast. Tried cooking in air fryer, worked well and quicker and cleaner than using the grill, but would pre toast the bread next time.
Ff greek with seeds. Several sqs Godiva 90%. Was far too easy to eat, don't quite believe the stated carbs and sugar

2nd dance class.
Came home hungry so had brie and cheddar with seedy crackers.

Dinnertime, had 2 mouthfuls of the boys steak and soem garlic butter cabbage.

Book club in local pub. 2 glasses white wine with a large amount of soda.

Lc hot chocolate before bed.

I think it's correct.
I've eaten those bars regularly for a while and Libre showed no different reaction from other brands, despite it almost tasting like milk chocolate.

Fried egg sandwich for breakfast.
Spag bol sauce, small amount of reheated pasta spirals, four peices of garlic bread for lunch.
Three egg and grated cheese mixed, chopped up cocktail prawns omelette all stirred together well. for supper at six.

Glass of single malt before I had a early night.

Had a phone call from the palliative care unit telling me that the oncology unit, is making an appointment for me to come in for a bag of iron, and possibly two bags of blood later this week.

I do not know the results of any of my tests that were done, I will find that out from my GP if she has got them.

Yesterday:

Breakfast: Bacon and eggs (didn't spike my BGL at all, not even a tiny bit... the Libre graph is flat)
Lunch: low-carb wrap with lettuce, baby spinach leaves, ham, beetroot, red onion, tomato
Dinner: Salmon with capers, carrot, broccoli. Dessert one kiwi fruit with skin on (yeah, I eat the skin, I'm weird)

Average BGL 5.7, no spikes :) Which is kind of expected since I had barely any carbs haha

Intrigued!
I was doing an online order of ‘heavy stuff’ from a company that sells discounted goods which are mainly household items or heavily processed foods with a long shelf life. It was my first time ordering so I had a good browse and found they offered a few goodies so alongside my Diet Coke, detergents etc came some Lindt 90%, Hunter Gather mayo and the buttons. Limited myself to one of each of the last 3.

And to get back on topic I’ve only just woken up so nothing consumed yet but my morning iced water with fresh lime juice and pink salt awaits.

I have made a TERRIBLE MISTAKE! I forgot about the Lindt 95% I had yesterday. Add two squares of that to my list

Started getting back on track ...yesterday food was 7am low carb seeded bread ham and cheese coffee (16 carbs )
11am one slice of bacon fried egg and 2 sausages 2 low carb seeded bread (38 carbs )
Snack another sausage and chocolate (roughly 20 carbs )
Evening meal grilled chicken thighs tenderstem broccoli 2 very small new potatoes butter and a portion of sauerkraut.18 carbs . FBG 5.8 this morning :)

4 January - bed 6.8 FBG 6.2 Dragged myself out of bed for the school run (but son came too as the only family member totally healthy). You're correct @Annb , this is the bug from hell. I did improve as the day went on yesterday but, this is a very up and down bug. Hubby has had this 3 weeks now and I'm not far behind.

B. Just TAG

L. A HiLo loaf arrived with my Sainsbury's delivery so, a sandwich with lettuce, tomato, prawns and Marie Rose sauce. No looking on the low shelf either - I'd probably fall over!

D. Back to a wrap again. Prawns needed using so I filled it with lettuce, tomatoes, prawns and Marie Rose.
CC little chocolate pot.

A very early night!
Can you tell what TAG means please .

Just had bacon (2 rashers, streaky), eggs (2) and one tomato. All dry fried. Late because I had a really painful stomach earlier on. Reflux, I suppose, but I don't usually get that. Gone now, anyway, so no harm done.

Today will be a fish day for my 2nd meal. Neil has been shopping but is only just back. He went straight to the fridge in the back porch to unload so I haven't seen yet what he came back with. I asked him to get smoked haddock so that I can make a kind of kedgeree with cauli rice. If not, it will be one of the fish that I put in the freezer a day or so ago. Must get my legs working so I can go and see.

Today’s food so far. Fathead pizza with pepperoni and Polish sausage. About to have a 25g of Aldi Moser Roth chocolate - their 85% seems to have been replaced by 90%. Then that’ll likely be it as I have a hospital appointment later and it’ll probably be a bit late for eating once that’s done.

This is my first post so hope this is ok...

Breakfast - Premiere protein shake and triple shot of espresso

Lunch - 1 Keto Sheet pan pancake with 1 egg and 1 slice of traditional smoke ham

Dinner (planned it out) 200g smoke salmon, Avocado mayo, cucumber strings, 2 nori sheets, and 1 cup of riced cauliflower

I was just diagnosed 4 days before Christmas and I am on oral tablets right now. My goal is to get it controlled with diet only at some point once I have shed some weight.

Welcome to the forum and the thread, @Cherianne40 .

How do you use the nori sheets?
I bought some the other day but I have no idea how to use them really! :hilarious:

You might find you're already controlling it by changing the things you eat, even if you haven't lost weight.
Do you use a glucose meter?

What about sheep’s or goats milk? I’m convinced those who spike higher than expected with dairy have some kind of intolerance and many with dairy intolerance do better with non cow dairy.
I've always assumed that I was OK with cows' milk - one of the things which reliably do not cause an allergic/intolerance reaction but reading your post, @Goonergal, I wondered. BG dropped to 3.9 on the Libre (4.1 on the fingerprick) after breakfast and I thought a cup of cocoa would be just the thing to warm me up (just cocoa powder and milk) and give my BG a little lift. 11/2 hours later it was 5.9! 2 whole points on one cup of unsweetened cocoa.! May have to rethink dairy products, but that's a whole area to check over the next while.

Before i forget, for those of you who like the odd 'easy' buy
In Morrisons today (but sure other supermarkets do similar) in the frozen section
Belgian chocolate éclairs only 6.5 g carbs each, pack of 6 £1.89
Not quite as large as the fresh ones but totally acceptable as occasional treat. Only simple fresh ingredients
