What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Yesterday wasn’t too hungry at all in part due to being Ill I guess.

I picked at salad and cold cuts and houmous a few times in the day rather than set meals, did demolish one of the chicken legs I had left over cold though, more flavour had seeped into it from being in the fridge overnight.

Had some yoghurt and creamed coconut which made me feel oddly woozy afterward

Morning all. Fasting till lunch (pensioners lunch day) and today I will cut out the pudding. I have kept off everything sweet for the last week and eaten Omad and as Keto as possible. Bg readings are down in the 5's and weight slightly down, so hopefully I've found my way forward. Can't wait to get off the metformin. Have a great week all :joyful:

Well done Rosemary on getting those readings down. You seem to have found a way that is obviously working for you. Brilliant.

Had a duck breast with gooseberry sauce yesterday evening. Also risked one leek, braised in butter and a little chicken stock. Only had half of that. So far, so good.

Today, at some stage will have a second duck breast which I cooked at the same time, cold and sliced thin with some cucumber and tomato and we'll see how that goes. I will add some more leeks to the remaining half leek and make soup of it.

Breakfast of fried eggs, Halloumi and spinach.
Lunch- DGF cake
D- the other half of yesterday’s chicken pie with cauli and broccoli then, finally one of the LC Yummzy cakes I ordered last week. (DHL sent them to East Midlands, completely opposite direction to Cornwall, then lost the parcel completely. Spent most of the weekend and this morning trying to get DHL to find it)

Productive day but out and about so this was reflected in my food
Before going out small amount of kefir with my supplements
While out a few nuts and two squares of 100% chocolate and coffee with cream
5ish Waitrose duck confit legs served with salad and a low carb wrap also a confession that despite it being Monday had a small glass of red wine followed by LC cake and yoghurt.

6.30am - 2 boiled eggs mashed up in a cup with butter. Mug of earl grey tea

elevensies - low carb/high protein bannoffee pie bar with another mug of earl grey tea

3pm ish - a handful of mixed nuts (I was just in from work and hungry :hungry: )

Second and last day of the chicken, it was a rather small chicken, and I learned I'm not a big fan of chicken so I thought to get it over with with a meat heavy meal and go back to something I like better tomorrow. :)

I must admit the legs were much better than the meat I took from the center part (sorry, can't find the right word in English) of the chicken though.
Today was also the day that the kittens realised they can try to steal my food from my plate!
So far, they hadn't, and I've been taking very good care of not feeding them directly from my plate after learning from previous kittens, but they still worked it out!

So dinner, even if I didn't enjoy the food much, was an adventure trying to defend food, and more importantly cooked bones from pets! :hilarious: Managed to keep everyone away from the bones and from most of the food, although one of the dogs gobbled up the contents of the side bowl where I put the bits and bobs I wanted to give them after I finished eating.
Plenty of meat and veggie sauce left to make for very happy dogs and cats, they clearly don't share my dislike of chicken!

@Antje77 - meaty bit on top are called breasts. Monday 13 February - bed 7.3 FBG 7.2 . Armed with various specs since my consultant told me last Friday to go ahead and buy cheap readers. I now have my adjusted specs with the dummy lens on the right/prescription on the left, one pair of +2.5 readers (that let me read out the right eye and give the left eye a rest!), and one pair at +3. I also have sunglasses for after the second operation as my adjusted specs will need adjusting again!

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with coronation chicken.

L. Nothing

D. Liver, bacon, egg, few onions, and I stir-fried the last of the cabbage with spinach and tomatoes. CC little chocolate pot.

Busy day. Finished a huge load of ironing, changed the beds, and cleaned upstairs. Boys are staying tomorrow and most of Wednesday as I bought son and DIL an away break in Newcastle at Christmas. Nothing better than a break free from children. 20230213_184629.jpg

I know! (Except my chickens usually walk with their breast on the front/bottom, and in my pot the breasts were on the side because I put in the chicken sideways, not hampered by any previous ideas on how to cook a chicken.)
I spent an embarrassingly long time prying off meat from what I thought was the breast in search of those chicken breasts before realising I was holding the chicken upside down (or more correctly, right side up, with the breasts at the bottom). Should have left legs or wings on to show me what side I was looking at I guess.

I hope your collection of glasses will see you through until both eyes are in sync again!

I had a bowl of Greek yoghurt for a late dessert, turned out I hadn't eaten enough, distracted as I was by not liking all those bones in my meat and by thieving pets.

1: 3 Streaky Bacon, quite few leaves of lettuce, red pepper, Houmous.
2: 2 egg mayo with some left over crispy bacon sprinkled in, half a plate of spinach drizzled in olive oil with a sprinkle of nice salt,
3: couple of pieces of halloumi left over from making the family wraps, in a bowl with some salad, onion, lettuce, mini plum tomatoes, and a tablespoon spoon of houmous
3.5: Actually had a 'pudding' and cut up 5 strawberries and poured some double cream over.

pre (4-5) and posts (5-7) seem to be alright, just morning ones seem to be higher at the mo. (7's last few days)

Previously used those sticks you check for ketones in the last few weeks after cutting carbs (but not strictly counting) to see if anything was going on there, nothing had registered for a while maybe due to having a fair bit more protein on my plates, then I forgot all about them. I was curious again this evening I did one and it went purple in about 3 seconds, between 4 and 8, Started to get paranoid that it was because I'm still ill or something, but its probably no coincidence that today I've made some changes to my plates - portion sizes of meat are down and portion sizes of veg are up.
