What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Aw, I was afraid so. I guess we need to invent an amazing dish called fried ahh and cheese (or maybe awe and cheese?) now to make up for our disappointment.

I'll have a look at the ingredients of the old cheese mayo (oudekaassalade although they misspell it as oude kaas salade on the package, which is just wrong in Dutch, it's the influence of the English language plus the Google being English based and working best when adding in spaces where they shouldn't be - sorry, I'll get my coat now, pet peeve) ...

Anyway, I'll look up the ingredients so you can adapt it and make a better version, substituting all the nasties for real ingredients!
It'll have to wait until tomorrow though, my foot hurts without reason, very annoying, so I'm not taking the stairs again today.
I hope I can find the tub again, gave it to one of the dogs to finish so no telling where it ended up. :hilarious:

Tomorrow afternoon I'll be playing board games with a friend, which will involve food. :joyful:
She called me to double check if her plans were diabetes friendly, so very nice! (Stuffed bell pepper, no rice, yes. Nuts, yes. Sweet potato or pumpkin, NO! Don't know about diabetes but those are a couple of the very few foods I really, really dislike, glad she asked!)
I'll bring nutty chocolate icecream made months ago and then forgotten about, and maybe a wrap as well, if I feel creative tomorrow morning. :)

I have to do a doubletake sometimes when hearing Dutch, it feels like I half understand it being spoken for a bit then don't.

That's lovely and considerate, also board games are the best, though been playing lots of card based ones recently with the family (child got zombie kittens for Christmas, which is quite fun, made by the guy who draws funny/silly comics on the oatmeal website.)

Belated: Yesterday

1: A 2 large egg mayo with a slice of bacon crisped up, salt & pepper, and some spinach and red bell pepper
2: Mince in the pan with onion and tomatoes then, put into a dish and baked with some cheese grated on top, done separate dishes for the family as they were after pasta with theirs.
3: Had 2 spoonfuls of greek yoghurt

Spoke with dietician on the phone today, was meant to be face to face but for obvious reasons just took a call from them (well, their trainee) and they seemed quite pleased with my progress, and also that I've lowered my carb intake drastically and I've dropped 7.7kgs since our last appointment. Although they did seem to think it was important I ate 3 meals over the day, the reason they said was to spread the load.

Yesterday I wasn't hungry at all, didn't force myself but was way past 3pm before I ate a thing, not sure its cause am virusy, I think now I'm at the point eating isn't such a thing in my mind, as long as I get the nutrition I need, I guess, not going to force myself.

Which led me to thinking a silly question in my head to myself "Should I eat something if I'm not hungry?"

Seemed instantly like quite a silly thought.

12ish picnic of two boiled eggs, handful of nuts and two squares of 100% chocolate

Can you tell me what a Tuna melt is? Is there a recipe? Thanks

4 slices of bacon (lol) and 2 eggs, and half a plate of spinach - glad I've used it up for the moment, ordered a massive bag by accident and been eating it all week as it spoils quickly otherwise.
Couple of spoonfuls of greek yoghurt - not sure if sinuses or just my tastes changing, but milk/mayo/yoghurts started tasting a bit tangy and sweet or something at the mo, emulsified or something, slightly unpleasant - pretty congested behind the eyes still though.

Puzzlingly not hungry at all, feels I should eat something though.

Em was here overnight. We both went to bed about 10.45 and she went out like a light but I couldn't get to sleep for a while, then, being stiff and sore, I got up again at 2 am. Tea and pills to get me fit to tumble into the big chair and stay there for much of the day. Em woke at 9 am and only wanted a buttered, toasted crumpet for breakfast. So I had the same. BG was allright after it - not great, you understand, but not too bad.

We did some baking - peanut butter chip cookies. Successful, I think but the tiny bit I had of one of them was soo very sweet. It was just a tiny bit off of the one Em was trying. The rest went into a bag for her to take home with her. Also sent home with her was a kind of Bounty bar made with coconut left from making coconut milk, a little golden syrup and some egg white, all baked into a kind of coconut cake. This was done a few days ago and today Em covered it in chocolate (top and bottom) and I cut it into rough squares, and put that in plastic boxes to go home with her as well.

After she'd gone home, I cooked a casserole made with Lorne sausage, mushrooms and onions for my 2nd meal of the day (if you can call the buttered crumpet a meal). I just can't seem to discipline myself to eating any more than this, despite what the doctor at the hospital and the dietician have told me. How can I eat more when my weight is ballooning all the time. I now weigh a disgusting 181/2 stone and I hate it! But eat more? I daresay the extra weight is making all my soreness worse than it could be and I would love to be able to do something about it, but the harder I try, the heavier I get. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I tried to edit the above because I got the time wrong. I got up at 1 am not 2 am. Not that it matters. However, as often happens the software wouldn't work for me and refused to upload the edited version. That's why it indicates an edit that isn't there.

Morning all. Not such a nice day today. Shopping day to fill up my empty fridge. Have already got a beef casserole in the slow cooker so need some cauli for mash and some broccoli. To be honest, I'm enjoying vegetables more than meat. I bought a celeriac from our local farm shop and am going to try baking a slice with cheese on top. Someone put it on here and it looked really yummy. I'm also going to make a chocolate mousse with avocado. I haven't had anything sweet for nearly 2 weeks! That's unheard of for me. It's taken me a long time to get to this stage! Have a good day all.

I bought some protein bars from Amazon - took a chance because there was no indication of carb content but lots of info about nuts and semi-suitable sugars. There are 20 bars in the box. The nutritonal values were in such small print that I couldn't see them even with my glasses and a magnifying glass, but my eyes were feeling pretty bad yesterday. I had one to test and, without insulin, it put my BG up by one whole point. It would be intended to be one of those snacks that I am supposed to have so I wouldn't be taking insulin with it. Today my eyes are better and I can see the tiny writing with my reading glasses. Each bar has 38 g of carbs, including oats which usually is a no no for me. In fact oats is the first ingredient. Ah well, I daresay Alistair will take them as snacks while he is on his deliveries.

No food yet, just tea. Will think about breakfast in a bit.

Breakfast: egg mayo. Still hungry so I've made some cheese crisps and will try to fill the gasp with them.
Dinner will be black sausages - this time will use less black pudding to pork mince ratio. The amount of pork mince I have will make quite a few sausages, so just 2 of them will do and I'll freeze the rest. Can I make a meal just with a couple of sausages though? Maybe put another egg with them and even bacon, now that I think of it. Should be filling enough to have without vegetables.

Kefir at about 10 with my supplements
1ish two eggs fried in butter on one slice of low carb toast and two squares of 100% chocolate
5ish pork stroganoff on bed of spring greens and small glass of red wine followed by LC cake and yoghurt.
Had my annual diabetes check today and was the usual sole focus on my one out of range result my LDL cholesterol and little mention of all the other results which are in normal range. I do find it a bit frustrating but also do understand that they are following nice guidelines.it would just be good just once to hear a well done on the good results and even an interest in how I reduced my hba1c from 97 to the 30s and be maintaining it 6 years on!

Tuesday 14 February bed 7 FBG 7.8. Took son and DIL to the train station then came back with the boys to get organised to go swimming. Also, I froze my membership again to cover the upcoming operation.

Wednesday 15 February - bed bed 6.8 FBG 7. Morning taken up feeding boys and trying to convince youngest that a cupcake was not an acceptable breakfast. Nor was a raspberry Magnum.

B. Eventually, TAG and a bit crustless quiche

L. Nothing. Busy restoring order and dealing with a croup cough youngest had developed. Great!

D. Got son and DIL late afternoon with fractious and bickering children in the car and got them home.
