What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Yesterday

For breakfast I had 'muesli' again and for lunch I had pate, celery, the last of the rollitos and a roll I made from a Dr Almond mix - totally palatable! I don't really miss bread (and I certainly don't miss white bread) but every now and then I just fancy a roll or a sandwich!View attachment 30330

That roll looks excellent.

Plans for 2019..... Sleep more, but earlier, and get up earlier.
Will be aiming to finally complete the house renovations that have been going on for what seems like forever.
Be well folks. Tomorrow is not just a new day, it is a nice shiny new year. Ours to use, abuse or enjoy, or endure. Hope you all enjoy.

I'd love to sleep more but with 2 small grandsons about I just have to make the most of school holidays.
I can so relate to house renovations. We got all the big stuff done with the extension but there were a number of smaller projects put on hold until the extension mortgage was paid off (which has now happened). So get fully organised first then start working through my list.
First task though will be the annual clothes clear out and trip to the charity shop.

@shelley262 - my meal worked out loads better than yours but I had to smile at "there's only 100g of sugar in it". If I had a £1 for every time I've heard a little bit won't hurt. They are good intentioned but just don't understand. Thankfully, I believe things are getting better.
@ Brunneria - glad you are recovered but why is it recovery always seemed to collide with a return to work?
@DJC3 - glad the nibbles worked out. I've added a couple more to my list after last night. Huxley's escapade did make me laugh. They always put on that "it wasn't me" look despite the evidence right beside them.
Well off to get the IP on the go with stew which will become steak pie for Hubby.

I'm baaaaaack! New Year / New Leaf and I need all the help and support you lovely people can give me.

Today.....

Breakfast: M&S Kippers and scrambled eggs. (Those M&S kippers were gorgeous).

Dinner: Roast lamb, sprouts, cauliflower, a couple of bits of carrot and one lovely (but small) chunk of parsnip plus gravy.

Drinks: black decaff coffee to midday, plain water until dinner then a glass of red with dinner and (being realistic) probably another glass after.

I got called in to doctors for an 'urgent HbA1C blood test' and flu jab yesterday - no idea there was such a thing - but it was a fasting test and she filled four of those little phials. I've got an appointment with the diabetes nurse on Friday for the results. :cyclops::confused::eek:

@Chook so happy to see you back. @Brunneria and I often thought of you and were concerned when you vanished. A very warm welcome back - we've missed you. Xx

Urgent A1c? Probably meant someone hadn't reached their target for monetary payment thresholds.

Of course that's pure speculation, but hey ho.

Breakfast :2 x 1.5 pints Tea - Dilmah English breakfast
Dockey : Nordic walk with dogs then Cocoa ( Rowntrees) with almond milk and cream
Lunch: Very large Mackerel, avocados and stilton salad with plenty of chia seeds. Proper Safeway that one (everything you want from a salad and a little bit more)
Afternoon: Dozed off but had some water - both quite unusual; (missed 2 goals in Forest Leeds game whilst shutting up chickens)
Evening meal: Tea; Sandwich or nibbles would have worked but LC versions don’t work for me. Lots of high carb versions in the house which start to look tempting at times like this. If past form is anything to go by will be very early wake up tomorrow
Good to see you in this thread @PenguinMum. Just time for more tea before Spurs Cardiff.

We used to go to the Won Kei ( wonky eye) a lot when I worked at St Paul’s hosp in Covent Gdn ( no longer there sadly) food was great but had the rudest waiters I’ve ever come accross, they inadvertently provided the entertainment for the evening. Also you could only pay in cash, is it still the same? ( I’m talking about 30yrs ago so probably not)
I remember that place about 30 years ago. We have friends who are half Chinese and they always rated it as the best but the waiters were famously rude. Our friends were keen on Dim Sum (which I think is brunch?) but I always preferred a dinner. We didnt go often because we had a 15% mortgage and in any case our friends cooked fab meals in their house and we brought the drinks. I wouldnt know what to eat from a Chinese menu now.

Can I join the thread this year please? I am not sure when you post each day so I will start with yesterday.
Breakfast: 1 slice HiLo toast with butter, tea.
Lunch (late because we went for long walk by the sea in Portsmouth) was Nandos 4 small chicken thighs with roasted med veg and coleslaw.
Dinner didnt really happen. Eldest son came back for the evening so made up party food from what I had in fridge including slivers of left over roast beef with horseradish, prawns with spices on little gem leaves, cubes of cheese with half cherry tomato and smoked salmon on granary squares. Son brought mini duck spring rolls and prawns in filo but I managed to swerve those. Had two g&ts and fell asleep on sofa to be woken at midnight for fireworks and Madness and had two glasses champagne and a boogie.
Really nice day and evening. Hope yours was too. Good BG this morning.
Welcome to the thread

Everyone posts at different times, sometimes several days together if members miss a few days.

ps I love your penguin picture!

I still felt full all day after yesterday evening so decided would wait until felt hungry before eating which ended up to be one meal just now. Bloods went nicely down all day much to my relief and ended up at 3.8 before eating.
Chicken, braised celery, cauliflower cheese and small glass red wine
May have small bit of my hotel Chocolat Yule log with a decaf coffee in a bit. ( that choc log looks like it may be around a while but probably will keep well - it’s so rich that you only need a little bit to get the choccky hit!)
Lovely to see the thread busy with more new people including a returner too. More contributors means more ideas for all of us on the forum.

I think you are right! I am supposed to have bloods done every six months and, while transferring stuff to new calendar, i found my last hba1c was the beginning of last March and that was only hba1c and nothing else.

There was one dish I was fine with at our local Chinese then they had to go and change the recipe and it sent my BGs through the roof. I do better with Thai and I take cauliflower rice with me which the chef stir fries for me brilliantly. Best cauliflower rice ever.
If I get a longing for Chinese betterthanbreadketo.com has some excellent Asian recipes which are low carb.

Fresh crab with ginger was my favourite. Fancy 3 of us here all knowing it. I might even have sat on a neighbouring table to you 30 years ago!

Very quiet and relaxed day today, now we have a roaring fire and books we received as Christmas presents to read, so feeling very content with our lot.
B: coffee&cream
L: Buck Rarebit made with 90 second bread and a slice of Edam. 30g HC Yule log.
D: From the freezer Lemon &Garlic Chicken. I must start labelling with where I got the recipe when I shove stuff in the freezer. Was v nice, served with broccoli. Coconut bite/ lc Bounty bar with a cup of tea and almond milk to follow.

4 - I was also a frequent visitor to Won kei back in the day. Visits were often followed by drunken manhunts at Brahms and List wine bar - oh the joys of a mis spent youth!

Wow this is amazing. It was pretty cheap I remember, maybe that’s why we all gravitated there?

Back in the big smoke after my dash up north and Christmas spent there too
Sugars were moderately well behaved over xmas - some higher than usual readings but I think most of those were more stress than food related, although the low sugar hotel Chocolate gift box shared between 3 of us may have contributed on xmas day and boxing day. The journey home capped it all off - the train was fuller than a london tube in rush hour and was involved in a fatality as it hit someone on the line - a 2 hour journey became 41/2 hours.
Todays food has consisted of bits and bobs rather than full meals
Hebba pap porridge, 2 lemon muffins, a josephs pitta bread, scrambled eggs & smoked trout, Rocket & lambs lettuce have all featured alongside 2 soya milk cappucinos and 10 smoked almonds

Happy New Year everyone,
Breakfast: Hi lo toast and butter
Late lunch: Roast chicken, sprouts, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower cheese, gravy and onions soaked in vinegar! Natural and low carb kitchens recipe for tiramisu (8 grams). A glass of wine.
Not sure if I want anything else to eat for a while

New things I am trying for 2019 - cbd capsules for the chronic pain in my feet. Will keep you posted!!
