What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi all. Bit of a struggle today. Feeling unusually lacking in energy and enthusiasm. Has taken all my willpower to avoid opening any of the remaining chocolate in the house (definitely not a day in which moderation is likely). Hope I’m not coming down with something.

Lunch was pigs in blankets - all the talk of them on here sparked a craving! Made with Tesco Finest chipolatas and streaky bacon and served with a fried egg (over easy). Still hungry so had 4 Gouda and chorizo rollitos and a dessert of almond butter mixed with extra thick double cream.

Dinner was beef short rib. Delicious as always.

@Tori71 my improvements for 2019 are to tame my propensity to overeat low carb treats, get rid of remaining fat around torso and increase muscle mass/decrease body fat percentage.

Hope everyone has a great New Year - I definitely won’t make it to midnight so see you all next year!

Breakfast :Tea then it became urgent to clear and rake raised beds and raspberry beds plus clean chickens - enjoyed all that hugely
Dockey : Tea then Waitrose latte while out
Lunch: Turkey sandwich - granary bread; I do have Livlife and Schneiderbrot Protein but it would just have been insulting to the farmer who reared that turkey to use any LC bread I know of; Dog walk
Afternoon: Tea and 2 slices of Emmental
Evening meal: Flaxseed crispbread and h/m chicken liver pate; a few cherry tomatoes; cucumber sticks with sour cream and chive dip; tea
I am just not active enough to need more than 1 meal per day but need fibre to counteract Naproxen when I need it so sometimes over eat as it were. If we are sharing intentions mine would be to remember it is quality of exercise, food and sleep that count. If you are seeing the New Year in have a great time.

I am so far behind.. offering commiserations, congratulations, encouragement to all the folks with corresponding needs!
I am so new here, and as yet have no MD dx, but this was/is my first LC Christmas. For the new year, I hope that the “good for me but...” LC munchies can be reversed!
My improvements will trend towards adding back in core and weights to my exercise. I belong to a YMCA, but it’s far enough away that much time is wasted in travel. Most stuff I can do at home.
And: to balance sleep, work, family, exercise, taking care of 91-yo mom in memory care, so I don’t have some stress-induced health crisis on top of my now 3 major chronic conditions.
Arrghhh.
So, Happy New Year all!
edit for length and typo

Looking at that lot you get a free pass for improvements - just build in you time. Have as happy a New Year as you can with that agenda.

C058F1A1-8BB6-4494-98CC-B78443560C96.jpeg Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: 2 x fried eggs with smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: LC ‘Bounty’ and a black coffee.
Dinner: Keralan chicken curry with cauliflower rice and coriander and garlic ‘naan’ made from Joseph’s LC pitta followed by LC mini Victoria sandwich with cream.
I have sugar free sweets and nuts to nibble on during the countdown to midnight :hungry::)

As predicted I fasted on ginger tea until dinner this evening. I did indulge myself by adding a slice of lime to one of the cups of tea. Drank plenty of water too.

Dinner was chicken thigh, cauliflower rice, and a Thai style coconut sauce adapted from the recipe @ziggy_w provided a few days ago. Got the thumbs up from Mr Pipp, too. Been drinking lime and soda. Had a tablespoon of Greek yogurt. That is foid and drink done for 2018.
Plans for 2019..... Sleep more, but earlier, and get up earlier. Well at leadt for the first week. :)
Will be aiming to finally complete the house renovations that have been going on for what seems like forever. Oh and make a supreme effort to ignore manipulative behaviour from certain people.
Be well folks. Tomorrow is not just a new day, it is a nice shiny new year. Ours to use, abuse or enjoy, or endure. Hope you all enjoy.

@ianpspurs thank you! I’ve already reared two wildly ADD boys (one of them autistic to boot) to maturity or some semblance thereof. So, what you see up there is peanuts compared to my middle-aged years! Quite relaxing in comparison, except... I’m about to enter my official late 60’s
@Rachox wow that looks delicious!
@Pipp I hope your house does get finished- you must be crawling with anticipation for the last contractor to Get Out! And yeah, get to bed earlier is me too. And a week is about how long it lasted for 2018, too... sigh....

Not exactly waiting to get the last contractor out, just wanting to get them in in the correct order, and for us to be motivated and well enough to do some of the work ourselves.
As for the bed earlier... Epic fail! Here I am at 00:15 new years day, on forum. Ah well, there is always 2020 to make resolutions for. :D;)

Good morning and happy New Year to you all. Recorded my fbgs this morning accompanied by today's date -- positively a strange feeling to see 2019 in writing.

@Charis1213 -- Not partaking in the buffet is showing a lot of restraint. Not sure I would have been as disciplined. Well done.
@Emma_369 -- So sorry about your husband's infected tooth. What a beasty thing to happen while on vacation. Enjoy your last day in Vegas and have a safe and uneventful trip back home.
@shelley262 -- Happy to read that you've finally got to relax a bit yesterday.
@Pipp -- Very glad that you were able to make something of this admittedly very imprecise recipe. You didn't really put me on the spot and was very happy to share. I'm with you on your plans for the New Year. We need to finish fixing up the flat (no fun living in this mess) and getting to bed earlier would definitely be a positive improvement. Also, decided to cut back on the quantity of groceries I buy. I realized that I am usually eating much less than I anticipate and some of the food spoils.

Haven't posted for four days and definitely don't remember all meals -- didn't involve any major sins, though.

Yesterday ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol.

Very late lunch (around 3:30 p.m): A Wiener sausage, a smallish pan-seared duck breast with sate sauce. A piece of manchego cheese. A piece of homemade low-carb egg liqueur cake.

Dinner: Nothing.

Very late night large snack: A Wiener sausage with mustard. A piece of manchego cheese. A coconut bite (@DJC3's recipe).

Two glasses of red wine throughout the day.

Thought should post yesterday before I forgot it!
Knew new years eve party at friends would be difficult but a bit harder than expected. I was good all day in preparation lots of walking and just a nibble of cheese and nuts at teatime.
Dinner Party - some almonds, followed by what was offered as a pig in blanket but once it was in mouth realised it was a devil on horseback - yuk I never did like them i wasnt a dried fruit fan anyway. first starter a cold soup which I was told was 'super food' it was so full of antioxidants but was a very very sweet elderberry soup which others wolfed down and I was told that a little bit wouldnt hurt me - but I didnt even like it!! next starterwas prawn cocktail tasted a bit sweet too! main full roast with all the normal veg managed to sverve the roast pots , pudding small amount of champagne jelly ( which I was informed would be fine for me as it only had 100g of sugar in it!) second pudding a keto chocolate cake I brought along, cheese course had a nibble followed by cofee and chocolates passed around including hotel choc 70% so got a bit tempted to eat some - it was 1am by then!!!
Social occasions can be hard when people decide you need to have a bit of everything regardless but onwards and upwards hey. I wouldnt mind having treats but the things I didnt really want were not things I like!!

I've been good not had anything from the buffet table and I prepared it all , not missed it at all, I still ate my low carb foods, treated myself to some dark chocolate and thoroughly enjoyed it .

Happy new year everyone hope it is a good one . x
Well done on avoiding the buffet, great when you are able to plan and have your low carb treats instead.

That balance between not offending friends, and looking after yourself can be so tricky, @shelley262 . It takes a while to train them. My really good friends understand and are very supportive. Others, including some family, I need to emphasise to them that I have an allergy to carbs. Which is only just stretching the truth a little as carbs do have an adverse effect. sometimes 'friends' don't understand, but some folks, I believe, whether deliberately or subconsciously, try to sabotage success. Hope you aren't in the company of the latter.

Can I join the thread this year please? I am not sure when you post each day so I will start with yesterday.
Breakfast: 1 slice HiLo toast with butter, tea.
Lunch (late because we went for long walk by the sea in Portsmouth) was Nandos 4 small chicken thighs with roasted med veg and coleslaw.
Dinner didnt really happen. Eldest son came back for the evening so made up party food from what I had in fridge including slivers of left over roast beef with horseradish, prawns with spices on little gem leaves, cubes of cheese with half cherry tomato and smoked salmon on granary squares. Son brought mini duck spring rolls and prawns in filo but I managed to swerve those. Had two g&ts and fell asleep on sofa to be woken at midnight for fireworks and Madness and had two glasses champagne and a boogie.
Really nice day and evening. Hope yours was too. Good BG this morning.

two poached eggs, one rasher bacon, a few mushrooms, one quartered tomato 2 tyvita
scores fbg 5.7..post breaksit 6.6..happy with that

20 mins on my indoors running track.. ;)
( hr 133/97..8 mins intensive..:D )

now getting ready to go won kei in chinatown (soho, london)
first restaurant meal since T2D dx

Duck noddle soup (fav) gonna skip the noodles....:meh:
Chinese vegetables and salt n chili ribs.
lashings of green tea.
will test in loos before eating then 2 hrs later..

( Pray for me the Noodles don't just pull me right in.
there's an entire menu down there i could eat, before all this...:woot:)

We used to go to the Won Kei ( wonky eye) a lot when I worked at St Paul’s hosp in Covent Gdn ( no longer there sadly) food was great but had the rudest waiters I’ve ever come accross, they inadvertently provided the entertainment for the evening. Also you could only pay in cash, is it still the same? ( I’m talking about 30yrs ago so probably not)

A very Happy New Year to everyone. Although I was happy to close out 2018 it was quite emotional too remembering all the loved ones that are no longer with us. New Year - new beginnings
Bed 5.2 FBG yesterday was 6.3.
B. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream. Slice of Morrisons high protein wholemeal with a boiled egg.
L. Nothing
D. Was out at the venue son's band was playing at. He had given them details of my dietary requirements and I have to say my meal was excellent! Started with my own personal canapes - monkfish piece with a ground pork scratching crumb, mushroom stuffed with spinach and feta and a very large olive with a hot sauce pipette. To start, salmon and smoked salmon terrine with finely sliced picked veg, pickled cauliflower and rocket. Main chicken breast stuffed with a cheese and red pepper stuffing, delicious gravy, celeriac rosti, green beans and broccoli. They made me my own personal dessert as well - meringue made with a granulated sweetener, a mixed berry sauce again with granulated sweetener. They filled the meringue with whipped cream and some blueberries and then the mixed berry sauce on top. Must reproduce that one at home.
They even laid on gluten free Melba toast to have with bacon after midnight.
Can't fault the meal at all but way, way too much alcohol! Champagne on arrival and at midnight, white wine with meal and more than a few vodka and diet cokes. I did drink a lot of water but still feel a bit fragile this morning. It was a very good night though - even Hubby said he wouldn't mind doing that again and , of course, the band were excellent.

Welcome to the thread @PenguinMum look forward to reading your menus x

Course you can! Welcome :D

I haven’t posted much the last few days. The flu is well and truly over, but appetite hasn’t returned, and tiredness is ongoing.
Due back to work tomorrow. 2 x 9hr days this week. Perhaps not the best idea. Will reshuffle and do 3 x 6hr days instead, I think...

Food has been carni + xmas choc :D:D:D
I made the mistake of ‘not bothering’ and opting for one meal a day, around 6pm.
However, because of my peculiar digestive tract, still doing The Victorian Heroine Languish, that lead to indigestion in bed.
So have learned that, for the moment, 3small meals is much better than 1 large.

Yesterday was:
A coffeesub
A chunk of cheese
3 Black Farmers sausages

Today:
2 fried eggs (so far)
And will soon cook the DietDoctor chicken, feta, olive, pesto thing. Yum.

Mr B is experiencing the tiredness too. He went back to work for a 3 day shift pattern, and it wore him out. He’s feeling good, but very tired, and entering a New Year low carb cycle. So we are both taking the opportunity to do as little as possible. :D

Hi all and Happy New Year.
Welcome @PenguinMum it’s lovely to see you here.

My post is yesterday’s food before I forget.
Breakfast: smoked salmon 1/2 avocado and a scrambled egg. Coffee&cream

Lunch: Handful of mixed nuts with the cashews picked out.

Dinner: buffet at daughter’s. My contributions were chicken strips with the pork scratchings/ parmesan/ almond flour crust, asparagus wrapped in Parma ham, fat head sausage rolls, mackerel pate and strawberries dipped in Callebaut chocolate. I had a bit of all of those things which I was very happy about. Many thanks for all your suggestions. Looking at other people’s plates piled high with beige carbs wasn’t even remotely tempting. Had far too much Champagne but a jolly nice evening all in all. Stayed overnight and spent a long time this morning searching for daughter’s purse which she said she’d left on the kitchen counter - eventually it was found in the middle of the lawn near a guilty looking Huxley who had already disgraced himself by pinching an avocado and slobbering over a jug of celery sticks.

My improvements for 2019 include trying to do a bit more exercise, I find it so easy to make excuses, it’s daft. Also will limit purchase of almond butter to 1 jar a month. Oh and curtail my Amazon habit.

Oh dear.. Yesterday started well enough with bacon, egg and mushrooms with black coffee for brunch. That was after I had ginger tea first thing.
Two more coffees afternoon.
Dinner was beef casserole, and there was crusty bread and butter.
Evening I fancied a beer, so had two. Someone brought out sour cream and chives Pringles. Couldn't find matches, so I ate 3. They were disgusting. I went on to have rather a lot of cashew nuts instead, as I had the munchies. Finished up with rather a lot of chocolate. Tesco 74% stuff, but surely it wasn't me that ate half the block of it.

Today I am fasting with just ginger tea and coffee until dinner this evening. I will be abstaining from the booze too.
I'll be abstaining from booze for a while after last night!
