What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Evening all. Finally a day with a sensible start weather wise - no fog/mist or grey skies. We were a smart casual little boy for a meal out today but that didn't ruin my day.
Usual tea fest. Carvery meal of Mediterranean vegetable and mozzarella salad followed by beef, pork, crackling, cauliflower cheese, broccoli, leeks, red cabbage (cinnamon in there) and gravy then cheese and celery. Yes, since it was commercial there were undoubtedly "non pukka" substances and it does seem to drive a coach and horses through my best avoided ( just now) foods. Since it was a restaurant the meat portions were never going to be a problem and I eschewed wine and coffee. Cheese portion was quite generous as was the celery. Setting was good - peacocks and ducks roaming car park and parked in front of crocodile house plus butchers open. 4 wood pigeons and a portioned rabbit purchased Julie couldn't face the whole Hare. 89 y.o.MIL enjoyed it all and insisted on paying.
@DJC3 I thought the £17.50 each for that entitled us to a seat on the board :angelic: @Goonergal ****nal for everyone??:arghh:

Hi everyone, got to post yesterday’s food before I forget
Breakfast: DD breakfast sandwich to line my stomach for boozy day ahead
Lunch: starter was pressed duck leg and a slice of pigeon breast with ‘aromatic broth’ which was poured over my bowl with a flourish at the table. Lots of other pretty looking bits and pieces in there too.
Main was ox cheek - deliciously tender with buttered greens. Sent my first one back as it came on a bed of ‘pomme puree’ which I’d specifically asked them not to do. It would have been too difficult to eat without scraping up some of the spuds.
Pud obviously the cheeseboard and one very small cracker, just wanted the crunch.
Far too much to drink really - large gin and soda before eating, red wine with the meal and 2 glasses champagne afterwards. Don’t regret it though, it was a lovely day and the glorious weather made it even better.

Edit for typo
Your meal sounds amazing!

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: chicken balti curry with cauliflower rice followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: brownie PhD bar and black coffee.
Dinner: left over crispy duck, two small pancakes and veggies with a smidge of sauce followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola

Busy day doing nothing much really. We took some stuff to the tip, which was ridiculously busy. Lovely impromptu lunch at our favourite Italian café. It's brilliant, as they always have lots of low carb options, including a daily frittata.

Breakfast: Lemon chia pudding. Coffee with cream.
Mid morning: Almond milk cappuccino.
Lunch: Mr B had the Parmesan, basil and tomato frittata with salad. I had bresaola with rocket, tomato, Parmesan, lemon and EVO. Two americanos with cream
Dinner: Roast beef, roast celeriac, one small Yorkshire, cauliflower and broccoli cheese, sprouts, unthickened red wine gravy (a jus or reduction , if you're being posh!). Used dripping for the Yorkshires and celeriac, which were delicious. Very full! Just about to make decaf coffee.

Only a rough idea of carbs, as the My Fitness Pal app for iPad is on the blink!

Evenin’ All,

Brekkie out. Lovely buttery scrambled eggs and bacon at dog friendly cafr, which meant that the joyous hounds had a scram egg each of their own. Followed by a gloriously sunny walk in park. Daffodils sprouting beautifully, and am very pleased that the dogs survived a number on uncontrolled children, on even more uncontrolled bicycles, while their parents gossiped in groups not paying attention to their murderously speeding brats.

L: last of jerk chicken (yay!) followed by cocoa and cream greek yog with peanut butter.

D: not needed, although i have just snaffed some v nice port salut cheese.

Dinner: Mutton shoulder chops and veggies.
Breakfast today: Usual omelette and bacon.

Yours sounds like good value to me - mine was London prices though which usually means a 200% mark up at least.
Good value? The animals and vegetables were from the fields around the farm so reared and grown on site. Fortunately, I had no intention of drinking a pot of tea for £2 - outrageous. According to the LC newsletter I should be able to feed a family for a decade on a tenner:angelic:

We can buy fifty tea bags for the price of that pot o' tea here.

I like rabbit, before I came to Australia we sold Chinese tame rabbit in the last place I worked at. It was good stuff baked or put in a curry.

We can get the the local feral rabbit here, the last time I looked it was around $20.00 a kilo as it was being sold as game. They are not often sold as the rabbit calicivirus gave the rabbit population a big hit a few years back.

Think I need to go on Sundays.

The nearest M&S for us is a few miles away, so it's not an everyday event, but Saturday early evenings and Sunday afternoons (when we might usually go) can bring home some astonishing bargains. I'll often end up coming home with an armful of cut flowers, amongst other things.

When it comes to the foodhalls, M&S know how to clear stuff fast.

Hi all

@Chook thanks for the M&S Sunday morning tip. Great bargain with the steaks. Will also look out for that cheese in Aldi - don’t usually go to Aldi, but sounds like it’s worth a trip.

@DJC3 sounds like you had a lovely evening.

Didn’t manage my usual OMAD Sunday today. Was playing in the Arsenal for Everyone tournament this morning and found myself very hungry on the train. Had time to dart into a cafe for 2 fried eggs and 3 rashers bacon.

Dinner was roast shoulder of lamb scored, salted and coated with garlic butter and a few sprigs of fresh rosemary. Prepared before leaving this morning so flavour had really seeped into the meat. Delicious. Dessert was whipped Jersey cream (for some reason the extra thick cream had gone runny) with almond butter.

I don't know where you shop Goonergal, but I had one of these lurking, replendent with yellow sticker in the freezer when I was doing my carni week. It had been there a while, as MrB will only buy chicken from supermarkets these days. He won't every sanction meat. (Luckily we have a fab butcher locally).

It was absolutely fab, and clearly very quick.

@shelley262 will be thinking of you and mum and whatever crew you have with you. Probably your day has already started... that is a LONG day you’ve got scheduled.

That does look good. I shop anywhere and everywhere these days. Mainly Waitrose but most of the other places from time to time.

Nice, I like Kimchi and sometimes make it myself. Rather than buy the gochugaru I just use cayenne pepper as it’s already in my kitchen.
