Today would have been my brother’s birthday so I bought tins of his favourite baked beans and rice pudding ( he had terrible taste!) and donated them to the food bank in his memory. I miss him.
Just had today's meal - vegetable hash with eggs. The vegetables (half a small butternut squash, a medium courgette and half a medium sized onion) were fried in butter, as were the 2 eggs. It was quite a large lunch, but I don't want to get too hungry later and I figured that amount would be reasonable.
I have to go out this evening, and this is when I get into trouble quite often - to get to the children's class venue, I have to walk further than I would consider doing normally (most people wouldn't consider it any distance at all but it takes me all my time and energy and I often end up the evening with a hypo, or at the very least not able to drive home (I would be illegal). So I think I will probably have to eat something to keep BG up to about 7 just before I go out, if I can. That way, I shan't drop too low. But I'll have to be careful: if I get it wrong and overdo it, BG will shoot up and could make me feel unable to drive anyway. It's a pain, don't you agree?
@DJC3 and @Penguins223 totally agree about stuff for Xmas. I usually try to buy useful or consumable items. But this year there will be homemade pickled walnuts and Apple chutney. Both apples and walnuts are from our own trees. If i had thought about it sooner could have made blackberry jam. Or mint jelly.

Weight has dropped to 47.7kg.
Breakfast: coffee with cream, 2 slices of pain kapnor toast with peanut butter. More coffee with cream.
More coffee.
Lunch: soup de Poisson. Small piece of baguette with ham and tomato. An apple. The Apple was wonderful. Fragrant, juicy and flavourful. Totally unlike any in the orchard. We might need to plant a Chanticlerc tree.
Several chunks of emmental cheese and a cup of tea. Dinner was chicken casserole, sprouts. No potatoes and only Few carrots. We had the rest of the cheesecake topped with raspberry crumbs. Glass of white wine.
Estimated carbs for dinner 25g. Well pleased with that.
Tea and then bedtime tea.
Hello all,
@shelley262 -- Have a safe trip up to your mum's house.
@DJC3 -- Hugs for missing your brother. Agree with @Goonergal, what a lovely way to remember him.
@DCUKMod -- The yoghurt is awe inspiring. Does the spoon really stick in there? Thanks also for the tip using the SV for infusions. Never considered it would work for this.
@maglil55 -- Wonderful that the new TV finally arrived. I remember your saying that it was a bit larger than originally intended. Should be lot's of fun watching movies on it.
@DJC3 -- For the ox cheeks in the beef broth-red wine-tomato sauce-onion sauce, I set the sous vide stick at 80 degrees and it ran for about 8 hours, to be honest it needed a bit longer than this. Then transferred everything into a regular pot the next day and gave it another half hour at a slightly higher temperature. Came out perfect.
Hardly slept at all last night, so guess that's why blood sugars a bit higher today again, but not as bad as on that day last week.
Today's food ...
Very early breakfast: Two half DD keto rolls with mayonnaise and gouda. Later (after my husband got up) two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol.
Lunch: A bowl of beef vegetable soup. Two small squares of 85% chocolate (about 7g).
Dinner: A small serving of the ox cheek in sauce (all gone now). One glass of red wine.
Now leaving to go to the local jazz club. Googled the band on youtube. Should be good.
Evening all. Lovely day out in Cambridge with old friends and colleagues.
Lunch was ribeye steak with a fried egg.
Some of the group went to watch Cambridge v Blackheath rugby while I and another had a river walk to Grantchester followed by a cup of tea and 40g pot of clotted cream before walking back for a pub rendezvous.
Dinner was a bunless bacon cheeseburger with mayo and grilled onions at Five Guys before heading for the train home. Just downed a tea with cream on the train.
