Morning all. Thanks for all the good wishes. Falling asleep even earlier than normal at the moment, so up v early too!

@Annb and @maglil55 sorry to hear you’re also not well.

I’m voting for Morrison’s too. Have ordered online due to being stuck inside, so not able to take advantage of I store fish/meat offers, but having been the only supermarket with available delivery slots for today when I looked yesterday morning, they’ve just emailed with the good news that ‘there are no missing items or substitutions in your order’. Guess that’s to do with the lack of carbs/loo roll in the order.

@ziggy_w many thanks for the offer. My bread consumption is purely temporary for ease.

@SlimLizzy the almond squares are very, very easy to make. My recipe is as follows: 100g 90% chocolate (obviously substitute up or down with cocoa percentage depending on taste), 60g salted butter (unsalted would work too, but I like the slightly salty taste), 60g chopped almonds (any chopped nuts will work - Brazils are good), 60g smooth almond butterWow. Looking at the , 0.5 tsp vanilla extract, pinch of salt.

Grease and line a very small baking tray (mine is about 6 x 4 inches). Melt chocolate and butter, add everything else (keep some of the chopped nuts for topping), stir well and add the batter to the greased dish. Allow to cool for a couple of minutes, add the remaining chopped nuts. Refrigerate until solid (couple of hours will be fine), then remove and cut into small pieces. This yields about 24 small squares. But who am I kidding? Might as well be 3 or 4 large squares for the amount of time they last :D :hilarious:

They do freeze well too, so that’s an option for portion control.

Wow. Looking at the time since you posted that was a very early wake up - probably beats my 3.00 exercise bike efforts. Hope the virus subsides before too long. Morrisons delivery service is good, previously we could onlyy use the Milton Keynes distribution centre so no meat, fish or bakery. Now we are served by Ipswich store so all those are available. Prefer to pick our own fish and meat so visit to actual shop needed. Refuse to go to Ipswich and trying to limit number of returns "back home" which is closer and quicker but their pork shoulder, salmon and huge cheap as chips turkey legs are bargains. Think a new small freezer may arrive soon. Take care.

Probably, although it’s not totally unheard of under ‘normal’ corcumstances! I did fall into a deep sleep on the sofa around 6.30 last night and went to bed properly before 8.30 so sleep has been had.

Much prefer picking my own fresh stuff too, but needs must and you can’t go too far wrong with the cuts I’ve picked (famous last words).

Sorry, no pic
they were in the vertical chillers, in the fish section.
Because they are made of fish... but it was a fluke we found them!
If they are in the fishy chiller they are probably like Oomi noodles which are made of fish protein. Oomi noodles are getting really difficult to find up here and they were my favourite pasta substitute. Must have a look for the Lidl one.

Having now eat the ones we bought, they are definitely just like Oomi noodles.

Three scrambled eggs with a little parmesan cheese for brekkie
Pot of black coffee
Sauerkraut and a cumberland sausage for lunch
Big mug of instant coffee
Spinach and a big mackerel fillet for tea
A couple of spoons of butter coz I was still hungry
Another big mug of instant coffee

Possibly too much coffee, but I'm coming off a long run of eating and drinking too much every day, and it keeps me from snacking.

Slept in again today - awake quite a lot during the night but then decided on "just another 10 minutes" at 5.45. Woke up at 8.30! Then I got up and sat in the kitchen chair with my cup of tea and fell asleep again, for another hour. So much for fasting sunrise to sunset. Just couldn't do it today. I've had the remnants of a cold for months now - never went away completely, but now it is developing into another cold - a bit of sneezing and runny nose plus a bit of a dry cough. No way it is this new virus - none so far on the Island, but it will sound suspicious to others. Probably shan't go to the kids' group on Friday - no need to pass anything on to them. I was going to try to make an appointment with the GP for one or 2 issues, but Probably nothing they will be interested in with all that is going on just now, so I'll leave it and see what happens. Nothing major, I don't think.

So - breakfast at about 10 am - 2 slices black pudding, fried tomato and 2 fried eggs.

Made a big pot of green soup in the afternoon but didn't have any then made fish pie topped with celeriac and cheese mash for dinner. Had it about 8 pm - but didn't have much of it. It tasted fine but just was no longer hungry. NOTE to me: in future chop the hard boiled eggs, don't just slice them - didn't particularly enjoy the texture of the slices.

Edited to fix a typo.
I know what you're saying @Annb. I am regarded suspiciously with this cold, particularly the cough. I believe you've got your first case on the island now?
You're right though. It's exhausting.

Having a naughty day. I had 2 different leftovers, the first a slightly burnt cheesy omelet with lots of veggies, the second an experiment that didn't turn out too tasty but good enough to put in the freezer. I already had the omelet on monday. Yesterday I thawed the experiment, thinking it was something else, so I had experiment with omelet yesterday. It was alright but a bit disappointing, thinking I had thawed a very yummy meal.

Today should've been the same, because although not very yummy, it's still good food and I don't like to waste it.
But I've just fed the omelet to the dogs and cats, who thought it was very good, and the experiment can stay in the fridge, likely until it's gone off :D

Instead I marinated pork belly pieces in an exciting spicy marinade this afternoon and I'm about to put them in the oven. I'll cook string beans to go with it, and try shiitake mushrooms for the first time too. I plan on frying them with some onion, garlic, a chilli pepper, ginger and add a bit of either Thai fish sauce or soy sauce at the end, not sure yet.

If it turns out well I'll post a picture later :)

Breakfast nut granola. 2!x CWC, Scrambled eggs with bacon.
Lunch was meant to be avocado, tomato and cheese salad, but most of the avocado had gone over, so it was cheese, tomato and avocado salad. Not quite the same. Lettuce, cucumber and coleslaw. Tea to drink.
Mid afternoon Tea.
Going out shopping , at 6pm. So had chunk of cheese before we went and several more when we got home. Nearly died at the price of electrical bits. Switches, sockets and cable points. Over €200. We also bought two parts for showers and a 30l can of xtreme blanc paint. Am hoping that is brilliant white.
Today used about half the creamy white paint on the biggest bedroom walls. Usually I would paint the ceiling first, but MrSlim was still working on some of it, so that is tomorrow's job.
Dinner; another Christmas duck leg, MrSlim had a cheese and potato pie. With more potatoes. Did suggest they were not neccessary, but he insisted. Both of us had leeks fried in butter and oil with cabbage and the last of the frozen green beans. Put them on the shopping list Liz.
Glass of wine. And bedtime will be lemon tea.
@PenguinMum thanks for the sympathy and the hug.
@Goonergal And @DJC3 like the sound of chocolate almond squares. Are they easy to make?
@maglil55 you seagull theif reminded me of being robbed by one. Swooped out of the sky and snatched my icecream cornet.
@shelley262 Thanks for posting the low carb crackers recipe. Can I ask which band of psyllium husk you use. Have looked at it, but never bought any. Completely put off by the idea of purple bread.
And to round off the day- the bed collapsed.
So MrSlim and I attempting to reconstruct at midnight. Not the best fun in the world, as it is very heavy and really more than either of us should be lifting at the moment.
No doubt we will sleep well after that little bit of drama.

Hi all
@Goonergal hope you feel better soon.
Weird day today - our queen Mary cruise - planned by us as mums 90th birthday cruise as it’s on her bucket list - was cancelled today because of impact of cv19, probably for the best as she has asthma and we got a refund and a future cruise credit in addition so will rebook for later maybe next year will give mum something to aim for! A 91st birthday cruise?
Breakfast two boiled eggs and half a toasted chaffle
Lunch lc seeded crackers and cheese
Dinner sausages, halloumi chips and coleslaw with glass of dry red wine followed by sf jelly and cream square of 95% chocolate with decaf coffee
Should be caring and at medical appt tomorrow with autistic son but he’s just cancelled on us - think whole virus think is very scary for all of us but especially the more vulnerable members of society. So hoping to head out for a walk tomorrow weather permitting!

Glad your cruise was refunded @shelley262 although your mum must be disappointed, as you say, it’s probably for the best.
Black coffee all morning.
Lunch was a Scandi type quick meal of lc seedy crackers ( used Shelley262’s recipe - made them ages ago but they have remained crisp in a Tupperware) topped with cream cheese, smoked salmon and chopped h/b egg. Then 1/2 individual pot of M&S seed and nut mix.
D: DD bacon cheeseburger. Rushed off to give blood with daughter but they wouldn’t take mine, fair enough, I probably wouldn’t want mine either! One of the staff there said that there was a cv19 case in our village now. I asked in the local Coop this morning if they might start a volunteer list so people ( like me) could take shopping round to vulnerable people. The manager who is new seemed unimpressed. I shall ask at the Dr surgery tomorrow.
@PenguinMum I hope your OH feels better soon, and before your friend comes to stay.

Ian - Where are you finding your rhubarb? Ours looks great, but I'm nervy if I start harvesting too early it won't crop so well over the longer term.

I miss my stewed rhubarb at brekkers.
