Hope everyone had a good Christmas - I've been trying to catch up reading the huge number of posts today as have not been on forum for a few days as busy with family.
@Antje77 wow that cheese - I'm planning a new years eve cheese and wine evening with friends so envy your cheese board! I'm cheese shopping tomorrow.
Just a quick summary of my 7th low carb Christmas. Think I've been more relaxed generally about food but have been low carb for so long it's an ingrained habit now but also a few variations don't seem to impact my blood glucose levels as much - my highs are almost always stress and emotion.
Differences to my normal LC routines
Not fasting daily as much as normal probably nearer to a 13 hour fast rather than normal 18 because of much later evening meals to suit others
Adding in some naughty for me lowish carb food - but ones that I have added in as snacks - mainly pesky nuts but also some way too moreish hotel chocolat 70% dark chocolate truffles
More alcohol than normal including a couple of small hotel chocolat chocolate liqueurs.
Pluses
Most meals however have been low carb with lots of meat, fish and vegetables plus soups and cheese and boiled eggs.
I've done lots of extra walking - having Cooper the family poodle staying meant lots of getting out there.
Hoping to finish nuts and hotel chocolate truffles soon and then not buy any more!

2 black coffees this morning
Lunch- H/m sardine fish cakes, did these in the airfryer rather than frying and was very pleased with the result.
D- rolled shoulder of lamb, Cooked at low temp on roast setting. It still cooked a lot quicker than I expected and was a bit dry, it’s a learning curve to be sure. Butter cooked cabbage with it. Decaf coffee with KC Christmas pud and cream. I’m only halfway through it, I wish they’d done individual portions. It’s a bit hard now and I don’t think it’ll last any longer. View attachment 65220
I've not started our low carb KC Christmas pudding good reminder will get it out of freezer for New year's day. Have you tried dousing the remaining pudding in brandy? It may soften it and taste good too?

I don't know about the

I don't know about the KC Christmas pudding but ordinary Christmas pud can be fried in your favourite fat (or air fried, I imagine) and eaten with bacon and egg. That way it can be "refreshed".

I used to love leftover Christmas pud fried in butter in the days after Christmas. Never had it with bacon and egg though - I bet that was a real treat.
The KC one is more a steamed sponge than a pudding though and wouldn’t fry up well I don’t think. It’s a shame it was big enough for 8 when it was only me eating it.

Thursday 28 December - bed 7.5 FBG 6.7. I had to venture out today. Family were heading to the cinema to see Wonka & I wanted something, just no idea what.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with pate. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing out and about.

D. 3 egg omelette with bacon, tomato, mushroom. Skinny Food Co mini LC roll. LC creme brulee with raspberries.

Friday 29 December - bed 5.8 FBG 5.6.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with a fried egg. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing

D. Beef stroganoff a la Rick Stein. The photo is Hubby's plate with the straw chips (I had celeriac fries). LC creme brulee with raspberries.

I managed to get the turkey size correct this year. It fed 6 for 2 days (which is enough for me, to be honest).

And this is what happens if you get a wonderful gift of lots of cheese! :hilarious:
Sharing everything I ate today for a change (usually I find lunch too boring to share). It wasn't only cheese; I had a slice of low carb bread with it for lunch, and a LC cracker of which half with a fake crab mayo thing from Lidl. So I'd call it a pretty balanced food intake really.

Will have some chicory with hummus as a midnight snack too, so I'll even get to eat some vitamins today!

Lunch (I don't do breakfast):

Hi All
I am back because I missed you all. The run up to Christmas a bit hit and miss because of optic nerve pain the week before. So some days just ate a slice of LC toast with tea for the comfort factor. Anyway got through the Christmas food well. Lean turkey, stuffing and mixed veg (inc small bits parsnip & carrots) with a drizzle of gravy didn’t do any harm and I am one of those who can eat on repeat for several days. I did give in to a mince pie once with a cup of tea which was bliss. I had two Big Purples from Mr P’s Quality Street but found them sickly so no repeat there. So now back to normal service.
Yesterday brekkie was usual slice LC toast and copious tea.
Lunch was three scrambled eggs.
Supper was smoked haddock poached in double cream with finely fried shallots and dried fennel
Today same brekkie.
Lunch will be eggs whichever way as need using up!
Supper will be Indian t/a Tandoori King Prawns and cauli bhajee for me.

I haven’t read all the posts but skimming see @MrsA2 has had a sad bereavement, condolences for your loss.

Hope you all had a good Christmas and sending best wishes for the new year.

Good to see you back @PenguinMum and great news the Big Purple ones didn’t trigger you.
My food today: usual goat milk kefir and black coffee all morning.
Lunch- scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and avocado
Mid aft - 30g almonds
Dinner - liver ( carefully weighed 100g, I’ve come a cropper in the past not realising liver is a lot higher carb than other meat) bacon ( not weighed, had lots) mushrooms and broccoli. Followed by red wine and vintage cheddar.
@Annb I hope you enjoy the fishy fritters. Also that the problems the weather is causing you with food supplies, are easing up.

I ran out of steam again and didn't make the fritters - just had some more soup. Tomorrow, I promise myself.
Weather still causing some problems, although the ferries sailed, but vehicles couldn't get to the port at Ullapool. Mail plane also failed again - one day last week, it broke down, another, it couldn't fly due to the weather, today it broke down again.
I never knew that liver was higher in carb than other meat. That's really interesting.
I was given a box of After Eight yesterday. Today, I gave it to Alistair to share with the other posties in the sorting office. Didn't dare to keep it in the house for very long.

@DJC3 hadn't realised that about liver being higher carb although only eat it occasionally as pate.
@PenguinMum welcome back you've been missed - hope your eye injury is recovering.
@Annb hope ferries get back to full strength soon so that your fresh food supplies return - it must be really difficult. Our weather is causing issues with flooding locally but it's just causing us to drive further round to avoid flooded roads.
Today
Breakfast kefir and supplements then two boiled eggs and LC roll
Black coffee while out and about . @Antje77 my cheese supplies are now replenished ready for New year's eve must remember to take photo tomorrow before friends arrive.
Late lunch a few nuts and cheese and two hotel chocolat 70% truffles - more left from Christmas still - will be better once all eaten as finding it hard to ration them!
Dinner hm chilli with black olives cooked in rather than kidney beans and one slice of LC cheesy garlic bread

Just had coffee and one hotel chocolat 70% truffle.

Coffee and unsweetened almond milk
Cup of full fat milk. (too much got delivered) Really don't want to throw it away.
2 Sausages
Beef and tomato

Just as well we don't tend to suffer from flooding. There is only one road from here to town. If we can't get through that for some reason (occasional car crashes) we are stuck on this little part of the Island. It's the same from where my friend lives. The only way to town is via a causeway, which is closed if the wind and sea combine to make crossing it difficult. People often get caught out on the wrong side so either can't get to work or shops, or can't get home. Such are the joys of living in remote parts.

My diabetic nurse says look for 5g or less in a 100g if buying in store . But she doesnt say what is a good yardstick for a day or a month?
How and where can I post this?

An odd food and bg day today.
Woke after a long good sleep at bg of 6, which was up to 9 within 30 minutes, and stayed there all morning.
I was preparing carby food for visitors but only nibbled gammon and cheese myself. So no reason for high sustained bg.
Around 1 pm I did have very small piece of (shop bought) panettone. Did rise me from 9 to 10.
Bg finally came back down to 6 about 4pm.
However I then had cheese and pickled veg, but then (while funeral planning) nibbled 3 pieces panettone and 2 small slices pizza and 1 Thorntons milk chocolate. Bg zoomed from 6 to 11.5 and is only now (4 hours later) coming down again.

Although the simple answer is too many (processed) carbs I don't understand the high baseline all morning. I wasn't badly stressed, just busy and excited.
At least it shows me in no uncertain terms that processed carbs aren't good for me.

And, worryingly, I'd prepared food for "fussy" children who only eat white carbs, so they had white bread sandwiches, pizza, cake, biscuits and chocolate, drinking coke and fruit juice. I feel so bad for the next generations...
(I did provide cheese, cucumber, tomatoes and salad as alternatives but none of it was touched :()
