Changed my veg. Still having spiced roasted cauliflower and broad beans but dropped the green beans and mushrooms and replaced it with cabbage! All that talk of our cabbage memories on the DD thread made me fancy buttered cabbage.I'm very happy today. Off to bed on 5.7 which delighted me. FBG was 6.4 which also delighted me and pre breakfast was 7. To top it all I've also lost 5 lbs after sticking for weeks. Now I need to work out why.
B/L 3 rashers streaky crispy bacon, 3 cherry tomatoes, 2 chestnut mushrooms and a fried egg. Tassimo morning coffee with cream.
D. It's Sunday so usual campari and soda and a wee prosecco.
Prawn cocktail to start with bits of smoked salmon in it. I make my own Marie Rose sauce.
Battered free range chicken breast flat and I'm dressing in a mix of well seasoned ground pork scratchings , parmesan cheese, parsley and paprika. Roasted spiced cauliflower , a few fresh broad beans, mushrooms, green beans. The carb eaters have the ever lovely Jersey Royals.
I may have some Alpro coconut ice cream too.
And it's only 3 weeks to school holidays and a rest!
Will need to go into reviewer mode and report on the taste and effect of Motezuma.Brunch: Eggs, bacon, chipolatas, grilled tomatoes - and one of the Montezuma chocolates (its official - Christmas and birthdays are the only days you can have chocolate for breakfast!)
Dinner: Mr C is cooking - roast lamb, asparagus, home grown chard or broccoli, runner beans, two jersey royals with butter
Pudding/supper: fresh raspberries / some Alpro almond yoghurt - first time I've had Alpro yoghurt so looking forward to trying it
One of the Montezuma truffles
Prosecco and/or red wine
Those Montezuma chocs are the ones that had nil impact on my bg. zilch. zero. nada.
And they are delicious!
But too pricey to gorge on...
Fortunately I have never liked doughnuts but my one is a Scotch Pie now long out of the oven and still warm. Morrisons do a really nice one and it was a lovely quick bite on busy Saturdays when there was no time for a proper meal. What it would do to my BG is enough to leave it as a fond memory of Saturday's gone by.Anyone else ever get a longing for something they know they shouldn't eat? Ever since we walked past one of those ring doughnut stalls (at the seaside on Saturday) I've not been able to stop thinking about them. I can almost taste them. I even dreamed about them. Its strange really as I never was that keen on them when I did used to eat carbs.![]()

Another is afternoon tea at Betty's . Wonder if they could be persuaded to do a low carb version before I'm next there later this year?
.
You need to get there early as the queues are horrendous. Love their fat rascals, unfortunately it whacks my sugar levels. It's a treat I have very rarelyOMG - Betty's - we were in Harrogate last week and I couldn't even walk past it. I had to cross the road and look from the other side. I didn't even feel capable of going in for a cup of tea because of the temptation.
Afternoon teas are a big of a problem for me at the moment. I keep getting asked by my old workmates to go for one and haven't yet felt able to go. We have a restaurant near us that does a fabulous afternoon tea with a four tierred cake stand per person with beautifully cut sandwiches, individual gorgeous savouries and to die for cakes and scones. I've looked at the menu and there is absolutely nothing I could have at that time of the day as a substitute. Odd really because it is a fairly rubbish evening restaurant but brilliant for afternoon teas.
@Chook its the smell of the doughnuts cooking that attracts me at the seaside.
