@jayney27 Both my parents died on the same day very suddenly so I really do get the "here today gone tomorrow" theme. I too am more healthy than I was 4 years ago but for me that doesn't preclude working as hard as I can to be a better/healthier version of that person. If I will the ends I also have to will the means and if that means work, restraint or whatever then that is what I will do. I can only see this in sports terms as I understand that best. Right now I know I have "left a few out there" i.e. under performed and that is what has always burned away inside me until I have been given the chance to put it right and satisfied myself that I have done so.
I think we are on the same page it is just that this has become my make the most of life task - become the healthiest I can so I can live as long and actively as possible. I see it as honouring my promise to my wife in wedding vows as much financially as anything else - 1/2 my pension dies with me. Those results show me I have more to do.
