What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Evening everyone

Got to Cornwall finally - the last hour in torrential rain - par for the course here. Mr C had cleaned and polished and everything looked lovely so nothing for me to complain about. We popped to the local for a couple of Gin&sodas ( thanks so much @shelley262 for this recommendation I much prefer it to g&t now)
Then he cooked massive steaks he’d got from the brilliant local butcher. Served with fried mushrooms and a handful of leaves. Really nice steak from the butcher’s own herd. I’ll probably see a rise in fbg tomorrow because of the amount of protein, but it will be worth it. Glass of red with it too - perfick!

Earlier in the day - DD breakfast sandwich when I first got up.
A couple of coffees with cream on the journey and an Adonis bar.

@jayney27 I waved to you around 2:30. Congrats on imminent nannyhood again.

@ianpspurs I hope you feel better tomorrow, maybe eating a bit more would help? You don’t seem to be having much.

@ziggy_w kudos for your fab breakfast. Hope things calm down a bit at work for you.
The weather has been dreadful here today most of the day has been dark and wet!
I waved too hope you saw me ;)

A trying day at work, someone who manages to push my buttons did just that and then some today, it takes a lot to wind me up but they seem to manage it without much trying, the worst of it is we need to spend 3 days away from home together for work, to day I’m dreading the drive from Devon to Leeds is an understatement.
Anyway that aside foodwise I’ve been a good girl
Coffee with cream on waking
B homemade granola with almond milk and a splash of cream
L slices of roast pork, cheese and some baby tomatoes, I intended to only have half of the M&S pot of creamy cheese but somehow managed to devour the whole thing, oops
Almond milk cappuccino and half a PhD bar when I got in from work
D lovely piece of cod, sprouts, kale and bacon pieces

Hug for the day at work, winner for the food!

Bed last night was a better 5.1 FBG however was 4 but that was it coming up from 3.7. Poor fingers are getting sore again keeping an eye on things. Stuck to DD today but not my planned menu

B. 4 rashers crispy streaky bacon and 2 scrambled eggs. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.
L. Nothing. Had No 1 at my dentist. He was really good. No fuss at all but my dentist has a great manner with them. Deposited No 1 back at school and went off to pick up meds and some bits of shopping.
D. Changed it to my version of DD fish and chips. Celeriac chips, used bits of hake and my crumb mix was almond flour, flaxseed, parmesan, sesame seeds, hot paprika. I did make the curried tartare sauce too.
Hubby still finds it curious that someone who hated fish and chips now craves it.

Congratulations @jayney27 & @ianpspurs on the news of your latest anticipated arrivals.

Rest assured everyone I'm keeping a close eye on the BGs.

Evening all. On train on the way home from Manchester. Afternoon meeting was cancelled but changing train was too expensive so took the opportunity for some retail therapy. @DJC3 three separate branches of Hotel Chocolat had no tea. And I managed to get out of all 3 without buying any chocolate!
.

Well done on stepping away from the chocolate. Shame about the tea though, wonder why it keeps happening?

Hope tomorrow is less exhausting

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: left over tuna melt with cauliflower and broccoli salad followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: peach chia pudding and black coffee.
Dinner: courgetti bolognese with a sprinkling of extra mature cheddar followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.

Pleased you got back safe hate long motorway journeys especially if it’s raining! Sounds like you had lovely treats to come back to though.
@Goonergal hope train journey home straightforward you are so busy with work long days.
@jayney27 hugs for your work stresses but brilliant that you stayed low carb and chose great things.

Hi All :)

Yesterday was... um... er... belly pork in the leftover venison/chorizo/wine gravy.
Oh, and I’ve just remembered what i had for lunch! Ha! Memory was blank for a mo.
It was a tin of tuna, mixed into a cheese sauce with grated cheddar and cream, then oomi noodles stirred in.
A carni pasta bake! V chuffed.
The oomi noodles are something like 97% fish protein, so the (sort of) fit the bill.

My avowed intention to ease off dairy isn’t going very well, but i feel like some comfort food at the moment, and that ‘pasta’ bake really hit the spot!

Today was a lunch of scrambled eggs with one diced GF sausage and some crispy bacon that needed ( ;) ) finishing up.
Then this evening was diced lamb leg and bone broth (in IP) combined with buttered lamb kidney.
The kidneys were soooo nice. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed them. And i cooked them just enough. Last time i overcooked them, and they came out like little bullets! :bag:

Glad you arrived safe and sound to a spick and span house. As far as I can tell this WOE is all about not eating much.

It’s a difficult course to chart isn’t it?
I was hungry all week doing the 30hr fasts, it worked brilliantly for bringing down bgs but I found out this morning that I’ve lost 2.5 Kg. Doesn’t matter as a one off but don’t want to keep losing weight.
I’m sure there are individual tweaks we can make - it’s just finding what works. Being hungry makes me grumpy so for the sake of my family I’ll probably limit fast type days to 2 a week from now on.

Yesterday:

Breakfast - couple of little spoonfuls of chocolate coconut manna fat bomb, and a mug of my poor ladies mocha with hazelnut milk and truvia

Lunch: smoked salmon, cream cheese and baby cucumbers with slightly sad fresh dill and lime juice; Halo Top vanilla ice cream and some frozen Blackforest berries; lemongrass & ginger tea

Dinner: spicy lamb mince with mint and lime juice cooked with courgette, piccolo tomatoes and baby aubergines; pumpkin purée with a dollop of cream, homemade pumpkin spice and sweetened with Sukrin Gold. (I'd made some so called pumpkin bread earlier - it turned out slightly gooey and sweet so more like cake than bread, and I was using up some of the remaining tinned puree.) Mint tea.

A bit of snacking - usual Lindt chololate and a couple of pieces of pumpkin bread with a liberal dose of Kerrygold butter. Several checks required at intervals to make sure it remained edible....

Today

Breakfast: more pumpkin bread and butter; hazelnut decaf with matching nut milk

Lunch feta with back olives , piccolo tomatoes , basil and a few drops of olive oil; Halo Top vanilla with pomegranate seeds. Turmeric tea.

Dinner roast chicken thigh with crispy skin; sprouts cooked n butter and nutmeg, with a few tiny chestnuts and cranberries; More pumpkin purée mix with a slice of pumpkin bread; turmeric tea
(Chestnuts can actually spike but I was still under my 2mmol/l rise limit 2 hours post meal.)

Lindt chocolate again today, and plenty of flavoured water both days....

Fasting is very obviously a bonza weight loss tool. As an article I read asked about something else, you can but should you? It is certainly by far the easiest way to deal with bg control for me personally but I want to limit it to the Ember days. Recent food intake has been inconsistent due to family disruption, not planned. I feel a a bit like all I have done over the 3 years is a "cheap market knock off" of the real deal in bg control, exercise, body composition and wellness. None of it actually stands up to detailed scrutiny. Feels too much like I am using an off the shelf package when I really want something much more bespoke. Take care.

I've had a very stable morning having had The Rachox DD porridge with 6 raspberries.
Wasn't too sure about the cooking so mixed butter with the coconut flour, physillium husk, pinch salt, 1 egg in the pan and cooked it a bit before I started adding the coconut cream bit by bit. It gave it a kind of toasted taste. Got it to the right texture and really enjoyed it.

Have had a few very similar diet days!

Breakfast - porridge (50/50 oats and desiccated coconut) made with coconut milk, tea

Lunch - large mixed salad, rollitos, olives, chilli cheese and pecans. SF jelly

Dinner - pan friend steak and veg, Halo Top and double cream

On Sunday however I did treat myself to a cream tea. We went on my daughter's very long awaited birthday present which was an alpaca walk in North Devon followed by a cream tea! Oops ... since losing nearly 12 lbs I think I am slightly more energetic, and I certainly didn't find an hour and a quarter walking any problem at all (apart from having to wear wellies)

This is me and my noble steed Ernie - he didn't like me at first, but we resolved our differences by the end of the walk IMG_20181103_212725_177.jpg

Good evening members of the Great British LC menu club. Early start, 4.20 ish, but cricket and Mid Terms to entertain. Fasting (about 40 hrs in the end) seemed to cure coldness so only 1 light jumper today. Hopefully, sleep later tomorrow morning.
Quite pleased with my adaptation of DD breakfast sandwich below
Breakfast: - Lots of tea - started with 2x1.5 pint mugs around 4.25; bean to cup coffee with double cream (felt chuffed to remember how to use that toy)
Dockey : Tea; Dog walk
Lunch : Rainbow stir fry extra mushrooms and pak choy; 3 mini chorizo sausages; 2 tsps Thai green curry paste; 2 slices Jarlsberg; Tea
Mid Afternoon: Soya milk hot chocolate (raw 100% cacao powder for magnesium) ; cinnamon - went to sleep watching some Christmas film the girlies were watching
Evening meal: My own adaptation of DD breakfast sandwich; 2 x portobello mushrooms each filled with mashed avocado and mackerel in olive oil, then 2x streaky bacon then 1 x slice jarlsberg and topped with a fried egg
