What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Yesterday's doings - funny old day as it was mums funeral. However, it was very sweet and touching and not as overwhelming as I've found all the previous parents' ones. Probably because I've done a lot of my mourning over the years but anyway ... that's a bit glum.

Late brekkie: wholemeal toast, butter and sweet freedom choc spread, tea

Lunch: nothing, but went for family catch up after (that was nice) and I'd taken one of my low carb wafers with me so I had that and more tea

Dinner: hunk of paté plus a mountain of celery and some chilli jam daughter got me for Christmas - delicious! It was a gift set which came with chilli oil and salad dressing as well which I will be sloshing on lots of things

Supper: mexicana cheese and pecans (fave snack)

I've now lost 1st 2lb so am well chuffed with myself IMG_20181228_184245_440.jpg

Hugs @Kingmidas

Was same with my mum passing..

i think it's the fact we are saying goodbye over a long period (dementia for mum )
that eases the grief, but not the love .

Yes very much so. My dad had Picks disease and mum had lifelong mental health problems so it was a very long goodbye for both of them. I feel very peaceful. Lots of things were resolved before she died so that was good

Breakfast today after returning to the sub 200(lbs) bracket
was
a few mushrooms, two slices of tomato, i piece of bacon, one poached egg and one toast
and half an avocado, which can be boring, if healthy..so i mixed it with a few, jar bought jalapenos, all cut up
and mixed in...lovely..will do that again..

Oh and two mugs of tea..one sweetener in one..other sans chemicals.

Have a great day all.

I’m glad the funeral went well - I’ve often found they can be ‘the best of times, and the worst of times’. Lovely to see friends and family but sad because of the gap the missing person has left. Both my parent’s funerals felt like that: I felt sick and terrible beforehand, but by the end I felt happy in an odd sort of way.
Very well done on your weight loss.
Your snack sounds like just the sort of thing I’d like but daren’t try - I’d eat the whole pack of both!

Yes, I felt pretty awful yesterday morning but I knew it would be ok.

I have some little glass dishes (used to be mums!) which are my snack dishes so I don't inadvertently a while block of cheese - and I totally could!

Hi all missing a couple of days due to travelling, Mums 88th, and her boiler conking out. However after going up to York’s for mums hospital appointment three weeks ago! And having her stay and looking after her at her home too for those three weeks I was happy to hand over the baton to my younger brother earlier today! He lives 2 miles from mum just a bit nearer than my 120 miles away! He also has a warm house and hot water! Boiler kaput and scheduled for new one on Monday - New Year’s Eve - we are crossing fingers and toes that it will happen and meanwhile brother is main care giver for mum with phone support from me. Will see how it goes.......
Yesterday mums 88th birthday
Breakfast bacon and egg
No lunch too busy preparing buffet and organising replacement emergency boiler
Pre going out ham omelette then gin and soda while at party. Buffet very carb heavy mum requestedthis as she said that what people expect at her club! I was busy so easy to swervethe carb stuff. Did go to bed hungry and cold though at 1am this morning so clearly didn’t eat enough!
Today
Bacon and egg
Lunch big journey so just a few bits of cheese
Dinner left over turkey curry may have sliver of hotel Chocolat Yule log with coffee later.
Can’t tell you how much I enjoyed my shower when got home boiling water to wash in a cold bathroom is nowhere near as good an experience!
@Goonergal good to see you back. Lovely to see some new regular contributors such as @jjraak and @zauberflote @Kingmidas sorry about your loss and good to hear you managed your mums funeral - difficult times and important to look after yourself take care.
@DJC3 new dog sounds huge!
@Brunneria pleased you sound a lot better
@ianpspurs well done on surviving some of your Christmas challenges - my film challenge was a very loud marvel film Avengers civil war and my almost daily soap challenge was Emmerdale and coronation street at very very high volume.
@maglil55 sorry to hear about your losses let’s hope 2019 is better
@Emma_369 enjoy your hols
@Tori71 your brownies sound amazing.

Lovely to catch up with all your news all of you there’s a lot of it and haven’t mentioned everyone hopefully will be back to regular stuff again unless need to whizz back up to yorks

Hi all

Another 1.5 meals/staggered OMAD (if there is such a thing) today. Out for lunch with old friends and colleagues. Half a roast chicken, ditched their sauce and asked for garlic butter instead, with a side salad sans dressing and added mayonnaise. Was given a small piece (about a quarter) of a strawberry and a small blob of cream (garnish from one of my friend’s desserts). Wow, strawberry tasted INSANELY sweet and cream also suspiciously so. BG begged to differ - 2 hour reading exactly the same as pre lunch.

Have just had dinner/delayed dessert of almond butter mixed with extra thick double cream and 3 Hotel Chocolat 85% batons.

Breakfast :Tea Dockey : Tea; Lunch: Dog walk (95 mins was plenty for my 13 y.o. lab)- then almond milk cocoa : Afternoon: watched rugby, drank tea, ate h/m flaxseed crispbread and h/m chicken liver pate quite a slug of brandy in there;; Jarlsberg and stilton (very disappointed with myself but hungry; should have been in my gym but liked being in the same room as Julie remembering a lovely Christmas present of tickets to a box for equivalent game at Twickers from our son: Evening meal: Christmas curry MKii - Turkey, sprouts and chestnuts, mushrooms, coconut cream, couple spoons shop bought balti paste - not a bad day from carb viewpoint but I really didn't earn the right to eat that much
Last try to make flaxseed bread failed but made better flaxseed crispbread from the failure ; still very much want a turkey sandwich. Oh and a better manager than Poch

Huxley a new family Dane puppy who is 11 stone! I just can’t imagine it he could easily flatten us @Goonergal by the sounds of it! Sure @DJC3 will fill you in maybe a photo? Would be good to see what he looks like.

Definitely missed that. Pic please @DJC3

There is an old couple around here with two Great Danes. Looking at where they live I have no idea how they all fit in.

Here are the Danes. Huxley the puppy is the grey one. Very playful but a bit thick - still hasn’t learnt that the cat doesn’t ever want to play in spite of several swipes to the nose to put him straight.

Got to agree. @Kingmidas - totally agree with @DJC3. I've had more than my fair share of deaths and funerals this year. I felt very much like that at my brother's funeral and it was so nice to reminisce with so many people. My sister's was the long , drawn out goodbye. Just New Year to get through now. I was reassuring my niece at Christmas that the time will come when she can speak about her Dad and smile. Hugs xx

Evening all. It’s quite nice to be getting back to some sort of normal routine I think. Lovely to see all the regulars back - so glad your mum is being cared for @shelley262 and you are able to return to a nice warm home.
I spent most of the day cleaning and changing beds after all the visitors. I could never run a b&b! still got a load in the dryer.
B: streaky bacon and fried eggs
L: Brussels pate and a few of the lc seedy crackers
D: Crustless quiche, trying to use up the massive ham we have, with salad. Then a slice of the HC yule log

I’m experimenting with freezing cream in ice cube trays - when I visit my daughter I often forget to take cream for my coffee and she doesn’t often have it. I wondered if I could freeze it in portion sizes and put in her freezer, then just bung a cube into my coffee. Turns out it separates so you get an unattractive yellow oil on top. I’m wondering if whipping it first would make a difference - anybody tried?

Ah yes, I do hope she knows the time will hopefully come when she can. I used to work in counsellor training and we did a lot of work around loss and grief so I know the territory and the process, but it's not quite the same when its your own x

Yes. Its a pain.
You can actually buy individual cream portions (you sometimes see them in cafes)
Or just buy an aerolatte and re-blend the cream into the coffee. :)
