What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

No 1 has decided he's going vegetarian. He's in a meat eating household so he's made the decision himself. Told me he loves his pets and it just seems wrong that you would eat animals. Can't really argue with that. He says he'll eat fish but no meat at all. Time to start upping my vegetarian skills again.

How old is No 1 son? I was vegetarian between the ages of 13-22 and I'm positive this helped me develop a keen interest in food and cooking. My Mum was really supportive, but really expected me to take a lead on planning and preparing my meals. It was great for building my confidence and independence, so it could be the same for your son. :)

My nephew is 14, recently went veggie and his Dad is taking the same approach. I got him this recipe book for Christmas and he loves it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1910931...=9046053&hvtargid=pla-488786546040&th=1&psc=1

@maglil55 You have inspired me - I've managed to sort out three kitchen cupboards this morning. :angelic:

@ianpspurs I'm glad your painful back has eased up a bit. Back pain is such a misery.

Lovely sunny day here but freezing cold. The dogs are all laid out flat like giant rugs in the sunlight coming in to the kitchen.

Today...

Breakfast and lunch: nothing

Dinner (which will be whenever it is that my BG gets down to mid 5s): Bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, grilled tomato

Drinks: Morning: black decaff coffee, still spring water, afternoon: Lemon and Ginger tea and still spring water

I haven't yet decided what to do about this WOE at weekends - whether I should be more flexible and just keto or stick with the OMAD keto.

Grandsons - No 1 is 8 - No 2 is 5 (although he's going on 45).
Its since he got his guineas. He has cats and a dog as well. He's been thinking about it a lot more and, as I said, just came to the conclusion is just isn't right. They have never been big meat eaters and favourites are pasta and home made soups. They like mince and stews but mince I can make a veggie version. I take them to school and pick them up every day hence why I'll have to up my veggie skills but it wont be an issue. They've already told me they want baked potato with tuna and corn tomorrow and water melon if I can get it.
He's a sensitive little soul but I'll come up with variety for him.

It’s so lovely when children know their own mind and feel passionately about something!

My daughter (for exactly the same reason) was veggie from age 12 to 16 and only stopped then because the doctor advised it after a blood test showed up she was deficient in some vitamins and iron. I ate veggie with her and was surprised at the variety in our diet.

@Chook - there is something very satisfying about well organised cupboards. I've discovered lots of space I didn't know I had! Loving these rotocaddies from Lakeland. All the spices that were on the counter in multi racks are now in the cupboard in rotocaddies - not cheap but being able to rotate to get the item I want is worth it. All the cupboards I've done so far were foodstuffs , stock , spices, herbs, cleaning stuff etc. The ones still to go have dishes, cookware , appliances etc.
Everything is back where it should be as Hubby has a bad habit of putting things away anywhere then forgetting where they are. I have found 4 packs of chia seeds that went AWOL.
I'm leaving the big upright cupboard for tomorrow. That has an assortment in it.

@jjraak - great size drop! It's quite uplifting isn't it. If you get to "school size" think of the savings - No VAT.
@dunelm - rolls looking good. Is that the DD version?
@DJC3 - like The look of yours too. What's making them so dark?
@shelley262 - hope Cooper is on the way to recovery. Friends of ours have had issues with their 2 dogs recently. Both had coughs but not at the same time. They kept alternating but both finally recovered.
Hi @maglil55, not sure what DD is but did the boiling water version from here;

He sounds like a sweetheart! I'm sure you'll do him proud.

Evening everyone. On the vegetarian theme, one of my daughters also gave up meat between 12-16 she stopped eventually because she just really missed bacon sandwiches. ( and I think she was sick of Quorn)
@Emma_369 I do hope your superhero does his stuff.
Snow is pretty much melted here now, pavements are just slush mixed with mud and dog poo so its hard to know where to tread.

Breakfast was the last spoonful of yesterday’s mince with some grated cheese on top.
Lunch: M&S Orkney crab and prawn cocktail with salad and avocado. Then peach chia pud with a couple of raspberries.

Dinner DD tandoori salmon with cucumber sauce and salad. Far too much garlic in the sauce, I think I’m going to have to keep away from people for days. Decaf coffee&cream in a bit

Breakfast: Hi lo toast and butter
Lunch: Pate, chicken, cheese stuffed peppers, cucumber, tomatoes. Chocolate and raspberry cafloutis with a small scoop of Judes flat white ice cream. Put some halved 100% Hotel chocolate buttons in the cafloutis and found a couple in today's portion. They hadn't melted and tasted really good against the sponge. Will be baking this again.
Dinner: Broccoli and Cauliflower cheese with pancetta.

Can't stop eating today think it's the weather
