What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

@Goonergal bet you’ve got plans for Friday 1st of February you’ve done so well - only four days now

There just happen to be a few portions of flourless chocolate cake in the freezer so one or two of those may be coming out along with the half packet of macadamias sitting at the back of one of the kitchen cupboards.

Have friends coming on Saturday 2nd. Out for lunch at a Turkish place, but will bake something for dessert at my place.

In the main enjoying eating this way, but have learned I wouldn’t want to do it 100% of the time.

Kudos for trying this and sticking the course. If you feel unable to eat that way full time how might you incorporate it into your regime going forward?

Think I’ll probably be 90-95% carnivore. First two weeks were plain sailing, just started wanting some non-animal items from time to time. At least part of this was about regaining some lost self-control, which is why I’m determined to see it out. Then to see if moderation is a bit more possible vis-a-vis nuts, choccie etc.

27-01
8am Cup of tea
9am Pre breakfast 5.9
Breakfast scrambled eggs. Spinach with butter, tea

11.06 am Post breakfast 5.9
2pm Pre lunch 5.3
Lunch 90g pate, Toast 31g Warburtons mixed grain and seed bread, Apple 80g, Water, tea
Small piece of toast and pate, not very satisfying, needs side salad?
Brisk walk to town and back, around 5k steps

4.11pm Post lunch 4.9
Snack tea and 30g nuts

7pm Pre dinner 5.3
Pork, green pepper and beans casserole, leeks fried in butter, carrots.
Yoghurt and berries
Glass of wine

Total calories 1440 carbs 71g
feeling full, but ap still says 347 more calories needed to maintain weight.
Have some spare carbs in allowance, maybe couple of squares of chocolate?
or not, since one square is only 70 calories and 4.5 carbs would need to have have four.
is this a good idea?

Post dinner BG 4.9 so opening the chocolate :D

So, I can't count on you as a customer for my new vegan cookbook then?:angelic:

Last night I had a little experiment.

When visiting the butcher last week, I noticed he was making bacon lardons, from some decent, meaty streaky bacon. Lightbulb moment.

I bought a slab of the fatty bacon, which took hime and air dried it, then cut it into chunks, about the size of a strips tube, laid on it's side. I then put those into the airfryer, rind side up. As I wanted to really be sure the fat would render/soften nicely, I turned the temperature down to 160c.

Because I had zero idea how long it's take, I got on with doing other things, whilst keeping an eye on the pieces. About 25 minutes in, my meat thermometer told me they were hot enough, so I slammed the temperature right up, but literally only for a couple of minutes.

Oh boy. Totally, crunchily delicious and very moreish indeed. I didn't use all the bacon as I anticipated last night would be labelled work in progress, at best, so it will be (hopefully!) repeated.

In contrast tonight, I had a beautiful piece of cod, which I managed to overcook. Overcooked fish just isn't my thing.

I can't quite decide what went wrong there, as I don't think I cooked it longer than usual, but I must have done. I can usually do fish really well.

Hey ho. Every day is a school day. :)

Please remember that this is the 'Low Carb Diet Forum' and that this thread isn't for low carb debates :)

completed 30hr weekend fast. Decided to end the fast as was cooking something tasty and not going to be hard on myself as I am only practicing until I can do 3 days Friday lunch until Monday lunch.

Was the piece of cod was thinner than usual? That will affect cooking time. Have made the same mistake myself and its always disappointing.

That bacon sounds fab. There must be an opening for a kitchen gadgets hire business for those of us living in small spaces.

Evenin’ All,

B: 3 butchers GF sausages. Disappointingly not as nice as usual. Usually they are excellent.

L: a bunless burger with a thin slab of blue cheese on top, with a rasher of bacon.

D: roast chicken

That’s a LOT of food. :couchpotato:
Probably have a lot LESS tomorrow.

I know Brunneria hasn't indulged in an air fryer, as she has great success with her halogen oven, so she may have ideas for similar outcomes with a different alchemic approach.

The slab of meat was also under £3, so cheap, cheap cheap. I hadn't gone in for it at all, it was literally, I saw it and though,............. that's for me! :hungry:

Turkish meal to celebrate your month of carnivory sounds a grand plan. I love Turkish food. I bet that chocolate cake will go down a treat too.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: DD keto pancake with bacon and SF maple syrup followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.
Mid afternoon: Jaffa Carb Killa and black coffee.
Dinner at Wetherspoons: gammon steak, eggs and side salad (I asked for the chips to be replaced with salad, they bought it with salad and a baked potato :wideyed:, I didn’t touch the potato honest, except to remove it from my plate! :joyful:)

Are you having Jaffa Cake withdrawal symptoms? (It is Jaffa Cake day isn't it?)
