What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Evening all. I struggle to remember which thread I’ve said what to so apologies if this makes no sense but daughter had cheerleading tryouts yesterday - sad to report she didn’t make a competitive squad but she’s got into a pre-comp squad where they train and learn a routine to showcase later in the year so get the practice and ‘feel’ of a team but don’t compete yet. She’s still so happy - a team is a team to a 6yr old!

Breakfast - usual peanut & chocolate protein bar with coffee
No lunch
Dinner - courgettes, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, jalapeños, streaky bacon & chorizo all roasted in the oven with a sprinkling of fajita seasoning and then mature cheddar grated and melted on top at the end. Followed by 2 squares green & blacks raspberry & hazelnut dark chocolate and more coffee
Good news on cheerleading and plenty of flavour in the food.

Back home after a long and stressful day. We left at 12.30 for the Eye Hospital and didn't get back home until after 6pm. They ended up running behind after the air conditioning broke in the treatment rooms, which meant suspending all injections until it was fixed. The whole process usually takes between 2-3 hours, but this time it took over 3 and a half hours! Mr B was so anxious with all the waiting around. Anyway, the good news is that his right eye is still stable and there has been some more improvement in his left eye (the good one). The bad news is that this means we have to back again in four weeks! Food today has been a tad topsy turvy.

Breakfast: Coffee and cream
Brunch: Bacon, sausage, black pudding, eggs, tomato and mushrooms. Coffee.
Dinner: Couldn't be bothered to cook, so we had chia pudding with raspberries and almonds. Followed by a luxury hot choc with Willie's Cacao Peruvian Black, almond milk and cream. We always have this on treatment day....it lifts the spirits. :hungry:
Is that as in Willie Wonka?

There was a lady on here just recently looking for raw cocoa. I told her about my wife’s cacao that brought back from her home country. I was actually enquiring about some yesterday.

breakfast: tea, 2 slices burgen bread toast with PB and strawberries sliced on top
lunch: half a can of tuna, coleslaw and mountain of salad. Berries and cream, cauliflower cheese, nut cutlet, leeks and peas.
Glass of water and wine.
short on calories so had handful of brazil nuts, and chunk of cheese.
Really fancied the last three strawberries, but already up to carb allowance, so left for tomorrow.
Several cups of tea and coffee during the day.

Still finding it hard work to eat enough calories.
Now, what can I have with those strawberries for breakfast? Very tired today, so off to bed

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: Chinese style pork with cauliflower and broccoli salad followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: raspberry phd bar and black coffee.
Dinner: ginger, coriander and lime chicken with roasted Mediterranean veggies followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.
I love coriander.

Weird night of <3 most of the night. Woke feeling very tired. Blood sugars beginning to pick up, thanks Mr Liver.
Ate cheese, drank water.

Lunch. Early at around 1100; bacon, egg, mushroom, sausage.

Dinner; a poke bowl. Lettuce, tomato, seaweed, flying fish eggs (quantity unknown), pickled cucumbers and ginger, marinated tuna and avocado.

Hello all,

Somehow got very much behind on posting on this thread again. Also have another 30 pages of posts to catch up on, not sure whether I will manage to, but I will try to do my very best.

Hope you are all doing well, I have missed everyone.

On Saturday, we went to Antwerp. Had two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol, a salad (lamb's lettuce, Ranch dressing and grated cheese) and two scrambled eggs with okra before leaving. Some sardines with lime zest and a small plate of razor clams with a glass of chardonnay while we there. A Wiener sausage (chicken) and a slice of keto poppy seed cake (ordered online, 1.5g of carbs per 100g) on the way back.

Sunday ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol.
Lunch: Lamb's lettuce, grated cheese, and Ranch dressing. Half a DD keto roll with goat cream cheese and smoked salmon.
Dinner: Cauli mash with butter and potato fibers with an Thai dish of coconut milk, green curry, eggplant, chicken and Thai basil. A serving of rhubarb with whipped cream. A glass of red wine.
Late night snack: A slice of keto poppy seed cake with whipped cream and low-carb apricot-lime jam.

Today ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol.

Lunch: (Same as dinner yesterday, except for the wine). Half a DD keto roll with cream cheese and smoked salmon.

Dinner: 125g of chicken liver pate, a Wiener chicken sausage, two glasses of red wine.

I have seen people scour out eating unripe fruit.
Scour out? What’s that?

You mean scour her insides out? :D

She used to eat a lot of unripe fruit. They all do. Mostly with salt. Also strawberry’s ripe but with salt. Yuk.

I have had under ripe papaya in a salad. Quite nice, but very expensive over here for papaya.

Diarrhoea in livestock, especially cattle and pigs.

People who work in the meat industry use the term loosely in people who have gut problems.
Ah yes. She used to eat unripe vedge all the time. Have you ever tried fried green tomatoes? Very tasty.

@Hungry19 my little converter tells me that is US 225. I am a scaredy cat. I’d call my dr. If I thought I were dehydrated (occasionally I do let that happen) I’d then drink a lake, then test in an hour unless the dr sent me to ER (I have no idea what a dr would do!!! I am not a medical professional and am simply telling you what I’d do. and lolol hours after I wrote that, I saw that “walk n water” was not a typo for walk On water, meaning pass a miracle! :hilarious: How did the rest of your day go?
@Chook I hate when avocados are like that!! They are up to a dollar apiece now. Your meal sounds good to me!
I just ran a home HbA1c test. It said 5.9, which is .5 lower than what the dr said a couple weeks ago; still pre-d but closer to the NON-d line than the T2 line. I am going to use a different lab next time.
@shelley262 hope you can enjoy your trip?
Good good news @BibaBee ! I am so sorry Mr B had to have extra anxiety. And of course the repeat in just 4 weeks.
@Emma_369 happy for your daughter! She will have a ball, and anyway you don’t want to be driving to competitions every weekend now do you?
@Tipetoo Paw paw is papaya? Not here in Virginia! It’s a native fruit that tastes sort of like banana custard. I had fun looking that one up to find the connection. There was mentioned a type of yellow papaya which in Australia is called papaw (in Virginia Papaw is granddaddy! )
Hi @ziggy_w ! Glad to have you back :)

Bfast whole avocado (forgot I was going to mash and freeze all the extras while we’re gone is my story and I’m sticking to it), egg, decaf/soy/cream, two choc
Lunch rest of the decaf and 2 cans different flavors seltzer.
Supper roasted seaweed snack stuff- delishhhhusss!!!, celery, eta spinach wilted with hm dijon balsamic vinaigrette with extra mustard, 7-yr cheddar which is still not impressing me with its supposed seven-year-ness, and a really aged Gouda, which I haven’t tasted yet. The cat sniffed it and didn’t drag it away so I’m not getting my hopes up! PS I didn’t care for it either so had a little stick of string cheese that I was given at my mom’s place the other day.
Nice 3 mile walk in the actual spring weather. The time changed yesterday so it was all in daylight! Much fixing of little time consuming problems and running errands to return pants (don’t laugh, here trousers are men’s dress wear or what Katherine Hepburn wore.)- apparently in that brand I am now a 6!???!, and buy various things at the pharmacy and pick up a second key for my car!! I am inordinately happy over that key. I’ve driven the car for almost 2 years with no emergency backup. Last week I bought a specialty battery at a place which advertised that they do replacement chip keys, and way cheaper than the dealer would have been. I can stop worrying about losing my keys now.
Off to buy son tshirts. Online. May get some packing done, which was originally my main goal for the day <eyeroll>
Edit for forgotten food item

@Goonergal - These rounds of insatiable hunger seem a relatively regular thing. I have them from time to time, but probably not as often as you seem to of late.

When I have one, or a couple, I tend to put it down to being a bit too relaxed on my eating on the other days; in terms of not quite having enough, and with my body already being pretty slight, it yells out for a bit of something to be working on.

I don't know if you have tracked calories at all. I never have, with any regularity, but when I was initially this skinny, I did some calorie tracking for a while, just to see what was going into maintaining my amazonian body. (Actually, it was as a result of my OH saying, "where does all that food go?" ) I was rather stunned to find that to maintain I need to be getting around 2000-2500 calories a day inside me, depending on how active I am. Being as active as you are you may need at least as much as that.

I hate calorie counting, so I'm not suggesting it as a way of monitoring for you, but more a way (once you know what your number roughly is) of sometimes just sense checking if you've eaten enough.

Folks often chime up that they'd love to be in the maintaining phase, and I get that, but if your body has recovered well, it can take some work to keep the weight and energy levels up.

Just a brain dump, really.
