What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

So jealous. I am in love (obsessed) with New York. 13 night stay coming up in the summer :)
My only memory of New York was en route to Houston from Manchester (I think it was) where I had to get a connecting flight. Huge airport, I seem to recall. But I also remember taking off and seeing the Statue of Liberty at night while doing so. It was quite a picture.

Always ask if unsure. *** is Nando's and what may I expect if I catch one in the wild - shoot it/skin it or what?
Ha. I thought the same. :D

I noticed one in the Trafford Centre years ago. It was always queued out the door. It aroused my curiosity. This place is blooming popular, I thought. Then we both decided to give it a try, in Bolton. Again, massive queues. I said to the guy managing the queue, this food must be very good, what’s the secret? He said “Chicken n chips, mate”. And he was right. But they do the chicken how Mrs Listlad likes it. So no contest there. What I didn’t know is that you can get low carb options there.

Thanks for that. About as useful to me as a Tutu but may be useful one day.

Hi,

Members are politely requested to stay on the thread topic.
The thread title clarifies this.

Attic clearances & flights over the "big apple" are no exception.

Thanks for compliance...

Whoops, forgot to post yesterday...

Breakfast: egg, bacon, high meat content chipolata sausages, mushrooms, couple of tablespoons of baked beans

Lunch: Cheese followed by sugar free jelly

Dinner: Tandoori spice marinated chicken thighs followed by cream whipped up with almond butter

Drinks: black decaff coffee, not enough still spring water, red wine

Today...

Breakfast: Nothing

Lunch: Nothing

Dinner: slow roast beef rib, probably followed by double cream whipped with almond butter

Drinks: Black decaff coffee and still spring water

Oh no. I wear a tutu all the time. :D

@ianpspurs Do you mean too carby or you can’t physically get to one?
Guess I could get to one - if'n I wanted to either go to places I really don't want to go to or areas of places I generally avoid like the plague. Also, why eat out just to have chicken?
OK. What is the SP on this whipped cream and almond butter? Are there ratios/protocols to observe and what are the assumed benefits - does 1 make the other palatable?

Ah. Ian, apologies there. It wasn’t easy but I did manage to find a lower carb offering. It was all chicken, cheese, avocado and some beans and greens (lettuce, kale). It was as low carb as I could find. I did only go because my wife enjoys their food and it was Mother’s Day.

@dunelm safe trip, happy trails!
Note to @Jaylee tried to delete this as being OT per your post but did “not have permission to perform this action”. I’m sorry, I tried.

@ianpspurs you may have to like both almond butter and cream to bliss out on the combo.... the proportions depend on the consistency of the ingredients and what texture you find most pleasing. “Spoonfull of this and spoonful of that”. Two alternate possibilities that I’ve loved together for decades are yogurt/Siggi’s skyr and peanut butter.
My preference is for an end product that slips down easily, and doesn’t leave glue in my mouth. Peanut butter is better at that.
I haven’t experienced double cream yet, but it works just fine with liquid cream!

B - strawberries, Greek yoghurt
L - forgot to take in soup that was in fridge:( Ended up having a plain croissant.
D - will be an eclectic mix of stuff - half a baked avocado with mozzarella and pesto (if there is any left in the pot), beef sausages, fried eggs. Waiting for the TV technician to come and fix the TV before eating. However, he is clearly running on Ethiopian time so goodness only knows when that will be!!
S - chunk of brie:hungry:

It depends on your version of palatable. I enjoy it and I find it filling but i know i enjoy things that you don't like.. I believe the idea behind it is to increase your fat intake. @Goonergal knows more about that sort of thing than me.

i don't think there is a proper recipe - all I do is put 150ml extra thick double cream in to a small bowl and a very heaped teaspoon of almond butter - and add a bit of sweetener to taste - then beat it with with a very small whisk or teaspoon until its thick and well blended (think mousse texture).. Then eat. I think @Goonergal adds chocolate to hers but I am still on my quest to find a suitable chocolate that I like.

You can make it with normal double cream but it takes much longer to whisk and there is a risk of RSI.

Thanks for that @Chook. I don't think I am brave enough to make that today but I can see how the cream will make the almond butter less salty and clingy. 150 ml of cream seems quite a lot to me - I'll see what 150 mls of water looks like.
Edit: OMG - small pond of cream

@ianpspurs I forgot: my known benefit of the nut butter/cream or yogurt mix is that it’s the perfect pre-ballet class boost. Filling but not large, easily digested or something that behaves like easily (i.e. no bellyache from too much or wrong kind of food right before physical effort), easy to eat while driving, and doesn’t raise/dysregulate heart rate/rhythm.

Hi all very hectic day so ended up with one meal but powered by a fair amount of coffee with cream - took two flasks out with me! - and lots of black tea
Dinner quick cook - chicken, cheese and mushroom omelette with green salad followed by SF jelly with yoghurt and cream now decaf coffee and cre@m and a few 100% hc choc buttons.
@DJC3 hope journey went well and wishing you a fun day tomorrow on your birthday.

I also find that it serves as a dessert for those days when I crave something 'sweet' after dinner. It is only a couple of tea spoons but hits the spot!

I swear I am going to go nuts with how much science I have been reading today (looking towards doing keto and diabetes meet ups in the Humberside area and maybe even a low carb cafe!) but thankfully I did remember to make the keto ginger snaps so I can get my Dad out of snacking on super sugary ones and they were lush!

Brekkies: CWC as always!
Lunch: Technically the one cookie I had after baking them...
Dinner: Lamb shank with red wine gravy, mushrooms and asparagus with some red pepper and another snap but at like 1 carb per snap? They fell into my macros for the day!

Hope that things have been well with you all.
