What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Haven't posted for ages!

Read through the comments since last time but it's a nightmare to find names etc to @ people.... so take as read.... sorry to hear that, glad it's better, well done, very exciting etc!!!

Funny day. Mum still in hospital so drove the 2 hours there and back.

Coffee and an apple with peanut butter for breakfast.
Lunch.... Ok.... experiment. Chicken nuggets. 6 of them... up I went! But kept an eye on numbers , didn't panic and managed it fairly slowly back down so no headache. So I'm almost calling that a win. (Doesn't mean I'm having them again... not worth it!)
Dinner chicken Korma cauli rice.

Have a nice evening!

@Annb I agree with @ianpspurs just by posting you are making headway - I find it helps to keep me focussed and make small tweaks to try and adjust this woe to suit me. I haven’t really sussed it to be honest, but I know I’d be in a worse position if I stopped. Keep at it, we all have our own medical and mental baggage to deal with as well as diabetes. Well done for persevering.

Back to today’s food
B: 1/2 a cheese omelette ( didn’t intend to have breakfast but daughter made herself an omelette then didn’t really fancy it so I ate it rather than waste it)
L: at a leisure centre as it was youngest granddaughter’s 7th birthday and she wanted to go swimming. The food was remarkably good a very meaty and well made bunless burger with loads of cheese and bacon. I asked for salad instead of chips and it was lovely - avocado, spinach, radishes, celery tomatoes. Nice coffee too.
D: 2boiled eggs mashed with butter and 2squares Montezuma’s with orange.

Mmm, love the idea of the 2 boiled eggs mashed with butter. Must do that tomorrow. This forum does help me. If I weren't in touch with you guys, I might just fall right off the wagon but having to write down what I have eaten keeps me much closer to the straight and narrow.

Thanks All.

Still only having tea for the rest of today.

Breakfast - none
late morning, cup of tea. MrSlim had 3 mini vienoisserie, don't think he realises how difficult this is for me. Kept fidgeting with stuff round the kitchen until he had eaten them. Then had some peanut butter spooned straight from the pot.
Lunch. Pain Kapor toast and pâté. Lettuce salad. Tea.
Tea and coffee.
Dinner. Pork chop. Potato cauliflower and French beans. Yoghurt and raspberries. Rosé wine.
Evening. Wine, water, cheese to nibble.
Builder arriving 8.30 tomorrow. Better be up !

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: roast chicken, one small roast potato, mixed veg and gravy thickened with flax, followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.
Mid afternoon: chocolate Carb Killa bar and black coffee.
Tea at ILs: cold meat, cheese and salad buffet followed by one Jaffa cake :hungry:

Sorry @SlimLizzy and @DJC3 to hear about your problems with shoulders. It must be difficult to live with, especially long term. Have you had any treatment for it, or is it just a case of putting up with it until it goes away?

And no, you're not alone. Em eats peanut butter straight from the jar, with spoon or fingers, whichever comes in handy. She also does it with marmite, although she has just developed a taste for marmite and butter together and, of course, her favourite - Philadelphia cheese with a spoon straight from the pack. A day or so ago, I had an almost empty jar of choc hazelnut spread she had been working through (also with a spoon when she could get away with it). She asked for a raw carrot, which I happily gave her and then found her scraping the dregs of choc spread from the jar, using the carrot as a carrier! Strange tastebuds my grand daughter must have!

Yesterday (a bit of a boasting posting:wideyed:)

Breakfast: my mock mocha with a couple of teaspoons of double cream with a drop of almond milk and a bit of eritritol/stevia .. Square of 85% Lindt choc.

Lunch: rest of my little reduced pack of crayfish tails, defrosted chopped avocado, & little gem lettuce, with sweet smoked paprika , lemon juice and avocado mayonnaise. 2 greengages with creme fraiche and a sprinkle of toasted almonds. Herb tea .

Dinner: cold roast chicken , feta, and blackberry salad with watercress, bits of walnut, walnut oil, lemon juice & zest, Last my rather tasteless stewed rhubarb, with some extra ginger bits, and more creme fraiche and toasted almonds. Another piece of choc to take the taste of the yucky rhubarb away, and more herb tea.

Water with a few drip of lime juice, and more mugs of various flavour herb teas all day.

And almost flat line glucose levels (6.0-6.4) all day with a tiny rise (6.7) after dinner, which I'm super pleased with :) as I've been seeing some real low/high seesaws mainly due to stress for ages now. (And I've done more comfort eating over the last 12 moths than I ever did in total over the previous 5 years...) :banghead:

Hi All
Yesterday’s food:
Brunch: 1 slice HiLo toast, 2 rashers, 2 fried eggs, tea.
Early supper at Nandos after going to see Downton Abbey.
Chicken thighs, roasted veg and tenderstem brocolli preceded by two glasses Chilean merlot in a pub.
Later got peckish so had some rollitos. FBG this morning not good.

Hello all,

@Annb -- I really empathize with your frustration. It really doesn't seem fair, does it? How are your overall blood sugar levels, have you at least seen some type of drop while eating so little? Someone might have mentionend this before, but have you ever had your c-peptide levels measured? High consistent insulin can prevent your body from accessing your fat reserves. Alternatively, starving yourself might increase your stress hormone cortisol, which might also work against you. Other than this, I am at a loss, why you don't lose weight on so few calories. I admire your dedication.

Yesterday ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol. One DD keto roll -- one half with butter and bresaola, the other half with mayonnaise and cheddar.

Lunch: Another DD keto roll, each half with mayonnaise and smoked salmon. Liver pate 120g and a square of 95% chocolate.

Dinner: A small hamburger patty with melted cheddar. Two glasses red wine.

Homemade bitter lemon throughout the day.

Hi All,

Yesterday was
B: sausage and fried eggs
L: forgot
D: a curious comb of moo grob and a gluten free goats cheese pie that I was gifted by someone who knows about the GF but not about the carnivory or the keto. I was sufficiently curious to eat it, and was pleasantly surprised by the pastry, and oddly repulsed by the goats cheese and vegetable interior. I think it was the hot veg that was causing the revulsion. Anyway, a once in a lifetime 50g carbs, and certainly never to be repeated! The moo grob was by far and away the most enjoyable part of the meal.

Today
B: bone broth
L: mackerel pate with horseradish and 3 x 3g oatcakes (easing down after yesterday's carby pie)
D: will be a large lamb burglar

Oh, and some Lindt. :D

B=tea and a little water. Lunch = 2 eggs inside a breakfast mushroom with reduced sugar tommy K (treat) after #1 of 6 chemo. Evening= beef mince with some onion, Italian herbs, passata and a little bovril, topped with slices of celeriac and cheese. Attempt at LC comfort food (bit of an oxymoron but that was ok) - think the bovril (1 tsp in meal for 2) was a god idea and I have always liked passata and onion.

Evening all. Posting live from Nando’s tonight :D

Just done an interview with the researcher whose research appears at the top of the forum when you log in. Very interesting.

Eaten a lot today.

Mid morning ate what was intended as lunch. Leftover lamb and short rib. Warmed in the microwave and had colleagues drooling.

Lunch. Usual at the cafe. Bacon, eggs, cheese (less of the latter than usual).

Later than usual dinner at Nando’s. 2 plain legs and grilled halloumi.

Made discoveries at Pret. DELICIOUS dark chocolate covered salted almonds. AND 30g pouches of almond butter @DJC3

Now hoping rain will subside.

@Annb your granddaughter’s culinary tastes made me laugh - she sounds just like mine ( the one who used malt loaf to dip into hummus!)
@Goonergal thanks for the heads up re Pret. What’s the carb count for the choc almonds? I will be able to pop in there tomorrow as we have come back to London for a funeral this week.
B: CWC
L: Packed lunch at Mway services. Hard boiled egg, slice of Emmental and about an inch of smoked sausage. Costa coffee with cream.
D: back in our very empty house DD Philly Cheesesteak casserole. I’ve no idea what that means but it was very good and very filling. Still had room for 3 HC batons afterwards though.
We only have 1 armchair left in the house so we are arguing over who sits in it ( me obviously) and there wasn’t a single sheet of loo roll here so first task was a trip to Sainsbury’s.
Dennis is rushing around like a whirling dervish, not sure if he remembers being here before - he was only 3 months old then.

Hope the Chemo went well
