What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Panic stations! My hard drive gave up on me. Right in the middle of reading postings as well. What to do? How to cope? Answer - call Neil. Unfortunately, when I went along to his room, it was in darkness and he was asleep, I realised, so backed off as quietly as I could and sat for the next 10 minutes feeling sorry for myself. Then lo and behold, Neil appeared, asking what it was I wanted. Bless. He checked and then started reprogramming the hard drive to sort it out. He has found the fault, put a patch on it (ring fenced it so it can't affect the rest of the drive) and got it going again. That was late last night. We went out and bought a new usb pen to backup all the files I had just left lying around on the desktop. I'm told I will have to get a new hard drive asap, because it won't keep going indefinitely and I really should buy a new external device to back up my files (the old one gave up the ghost a while ago). It will all have to wait until after Christmas now (and probably after the next car repair as well). But it is working and I am back in touch. Hurrah for Neil.

Along with that, the night before last, our oil ran out (I obviously misjudged the timing). So no heating or hot water. I ordered more yesterday but was told that they are very busy and I might not get any delivered before Christmas. I told the lady on the phone my tale of woe - cold, no heat, no hot water etc and she said she would try to expedite it. It came today. Now the boiler is back on and the radiators blasting out heat. Thank goodness. Thank Certas Fuels.

Yesterday I had chicken broth at about 12.30 and bacon and eggs at about 7 pm. Lots of tea and hot water, of course.

Today, at about 1 pm I had a couple of chaffles (made with ricotta because I couldn't get mozzarella) and a couple of slices of streaky bacon. This evening I will be making some veg soup and that will have to do for today. Fluids as well, of course.

@Chook - the cauliflower is still working on me - shouldn't have had quite so much but I bought another couple of them today and will put reasonable sized packages into the freezer for future use.

Good morning

Beautifully sunny but cold day - murder on my arthritic bits and bobs but I'm enjoying the sunshine. Just back home from a drive out in the new car. I was a bit dismayed to see all the computer stuff - why can't we go back to the pre-computer car days.

Absolutely - why can't cars be old fashioned - so they can be fixed by a mechanic when they go wrong rather than an electronics fix, also done by computer. We have had various issues with cars, sometimes breaking down in dangerous situations because of a computer fault, or being told there is a fault when there isn't - just a glitch on the computer. There again, why can't we go back to the good old days when everything was so much better (and/because I was so much younger). I also don't like automatic cars - prefer to be in control of the gears myself.

I'm so glad its working for you.

LOL - Mr C's cauli rice is working on him too. He couldn't work out what might have been causing it.... I didn't explain.... just funny watching him hurtle towards the loo and tripping over a dog who always sleeps in front of that door :angelic:

A bit of catching up required. @Chook it must be such a relief your Mum is now more accepting of the care home, it will be a load off your mind. All those parcels you are taking in must make your home look like a sorting office. I hope your neighbours appreciate it! @Annb so glad you got your oil quickly. I am with Certas and agree they have really upped their game on Customer Service, they used to be awful. @ianpspurs respect for the long fast, I just couldnt do it, would be like a bear with a sore head. @SlimLizzy your poor shed, we have certainly had some battering weather. Love the sound of your foodie gifts. Today I am eating as follows.
Breakfast: slice LivLife toast, butter, tea x2.
2 flat white coffees with a friend so late lunch of mug of h/m Leek & Broccoli soup.
Supper will be spatch**** chicken and broccoli (I know its all thats left in the veg drawer).

Evening all. @PenguinMum I’m still chortling over your supper which was automatically asterisked to avoid causing offence.
Well done on the fast @ianpspurs I’m chuffed if I miss breakfast but find longer abstinence torture.
@Annb I wish I had a Neil! Glad your oil came quickly. I was in a similar plight a few days ago when we ran out of gas.
Today has been another day of ridiculously high BGs but I’m trying not to be downhearted.
B- CWC
L- chaffle toasted with a slice of cheese.
D- Cawl, I’ve been craving this comfort food from my childhood, probably because I’ve been under the weather. Made it in the IP on the meat/stew setting. No potatoes though sadly but apart from that it tasted great. Swede and just a bit of carrot. Pud was DGF peanut Blondie.

Hi all definitely slowly improving thankfully
Breakfast two boiled eggs
Lunch a few bits of cheese and two home made keto truffles
Dinner beef casserole and sprouts followed by SF jelly and yoghurt.
Had a more relaxing day today - definitely what was needed.....gum starting to heal still on paracetamol but getting there.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: left over roasted Mediterranean veggies with melted cheese followed by Greek yoghurt, raspberries and macadamia and coconut keto granola.
Mid afternoon: coconut chia pudding and black coffee.
Dinner: I had a tiny portion of left over chicken curry and cauliflower rice in the freezer so Googled what to make with left over curry! I ended up with a curry omelette, it was very tasty :hungry: followed by SFJelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.

Saw a programme yesterday where they made left over bits from Christmas dinner into a frittata good idea to use up leftovers!

Evenin’ All,

B: bone broth
L: ham, edam, cream cheese and Branston roll ups followed by goatsmilk yog with peanut butter
D: stew

there will be a lot of stew during the next few days, since we have 7 litres of it :D thanks to 2.5 kilos of skirt steak.
However, i have miscalculated on freezer storage, and if we want to store stew in it, other things will have to come out. Not sure what.
And the problem remains... how much can we eat? Probably not 7 litres in volume...

Do you have any neighbours or family who could babysit a few brown blocks for you, whilst you resolve the storage challenge (by eating other things)?

Curry omelette! Why have I never thought of that? Definitely trying it next time I have a bit of curry leftover ( doesn’t happen often )

Why are you up, @DJC3 ? I have no idea why I am awake.

I could kid myself it's political interest, but as my constituency has a 99+% prediction, I sort of know how our seat will go.

You’ve made me laugh twice now! First at the unlikelihood of leftover curry. Then because I was wondering the same about you - why were you still up?

As the best sleeper in the land of sleepers, I just couldn't last night.

Nothing on my mind, so just one of those things.

Today 12/12/19
Breakfast: Usual low carb porridge and 90g greek yoghurt
Lunch: 120g butter leaf lettuce, 80g roast pork lunch meat (nice low carb one), 16g full fat cheese. 30g peri peri biltong
Dinner: Savory mince, 250g extra lean beef mince, 270g cauliflower, 170g green beans, added some curry powder to this batch and it worked out well. Ran out of Vegemite to add in replacement of stock, my jar finally ran out after 8 months.
