@annabell1 Thank you so much for this piece of good news- it seems the best (ie lowest carb ) alcoholic drink is
Champagne. :joyful: Here in France there is a huge range and much of it at a reasonable price.:D
Also.lovely pics of your flowers.
The other less palatable fact is alcohol will hit harder and faster people eating low carb. Risk of :hungover: So drink less champagne.
@maglil55 thanks for the lnk. Once finished with making xmas gifts might make some treats for me. Respect for you ploughing through all our posts.
@Annb hugs for the fall. they can really shake you up. goodluckwith the shoulder hope its not badly damaged.
Might be grabbing your idea for roasted caulliflower.
@ianpspurs Totally with you about brisket. Remember chewing some for what seemed like hours as a child.
My mother knows how to wreck a piece of beef. It would be Sunday lunch. Monday, served as cold slices, with hot gravy (ugh) and Tuesday the remnants turned into rissoles..... argh going to have nightmares tonight. Probaly starring her rice pudding.
@Goonergal and @Chook what is a Gooner? Have always assumed Goonergal is a reference to Gongoozling - watching canalboats.
@DJC3 How did cutting out eggs go? Have all the itchy lumps gone?

16-12-19
Breakfast. 2x CWC, nut granola, flavoured with the grated rind of the orange from yesterday and cinnamon. Very seasonal.
2egg emmethal omelette. Sudden brainwave. Grate more cheese than needed for one day. Why didn't i think of this before?
Lunch: avocado, tomato, cheese and salad. tea.
Dinner BBQ refugees. They hid in the freezer to avoid it. So a thorough grilling for the pork chop, 2 rashers belly pork and three sausages. Red cabbage, and green beans with mine.
The last batch of parsely honey is too liquid, simmered to reduce a little more and rebottled. Of course no longer two full jars.
MrSlim and his new sidekick have made great progress today. MrSlim is looking happier, but now no chance of earlier return to UK. So will not be seeing any of our friends this christmas.
Finished faffing with parsley honey and other jars, drank my nearly cold tea and poured myself a glass of wine. But new evening regime; No wine after nine. Bedtime tea by ten. Had to put it back in the fridge. Consoled myself with a nice lemon and ginger tea. Somehow doesn't have quite the same effect, or is that emotional appeal?

Breakfast scrambled eggs and a piece of bacon 1/4 low carb bread roll with butter.
Dinner pizza was going to make fathead crust Low carb but I lost track of time so normal pizza base already made that I brought made my own tomato base sauce and added soppressa hot salami cheese ham and fresh pineapple ate 3 slices. I also had a scoop of icecream. Rang the diabetic center again regarding high readings with prednisone and cravings and left message but they didn't rang back my BSL 5 hours after taking prednisone and breakfast was 12 mmol/L so at dinner I took another 30mg sr diamcron thought I see if this helps just annoyed the clinic hasn't rang back.

Champagne it is works for me enjoy

Champagne works for me, too - and Prosecco and red wine... and the occasional G&ST. As for beer and the other spirits... I've carried out extensive research and all of them affect my BG - especially those sugar free hot rum toddies I medicated myself with when I had a cold recently. I'm having a go at making a sugar free version of mulled wine. Not expecting much but at least it will be cheerfully seasonal.

@DJC3 - I'm so glad your itchy lumps have gone. It will be interesting if they come back after duck eggs.

So, my menu for yesterday Monday 16th December

Sunday bed: 7.7

Monday FBG: 7.6
Breakfast was a chaffle with carb free syrup
2 hours later: 8.4

Lunch: 7.3
Lunch was a 20g advent calendar cheese
2 hours later: 6.3

Dinner: 6.2
Dinner was 160g marinated tofu (1.6g), a small amount of cheese plus a huge bowl of salad with chia seeds basalmic and olive oil dressing
one square of Lindt 70%
2 hours later: 7.5

Bed: 7.7

I've noticed that the breakfast chaffles are no longer stopping DP at breakfast. :arghh:

Now that is STRANGE. I was talking to a friend today, explaining what and why I eat like this (she is also very ling term T2 on insulin) ... We had a look at my food diary and she pointed out that every time i have a day with higher than usual BG its immediately followed by a hungry day. It seems you have the same issue.

I find I'm very hungry when my BG is especially high and, of course, I try not to eat extra, but it doesn't always work out and that puts the BG up even more.

A tentative start to Christmas today with an OMAD after a day signing forms at solicitors then in Cambridge. Tea and coffee until about 18:30. Salmon and tuna (sashimi?) from Waitrose Suchi bar (loved it), sirloin steak, ceasar salad (sans croutons) and small piece of Wookey hole cheese. Dangerous visiting the mothership Waitrose in Trumpington - never knew I wanted needed a cheese curler until today but once seen it needed rescuing and giving a home. Steak was another air fryer win although I would have mine much more rare. We used the burger preset but I prefer not much more than the sashimi if I'm honest. This was very tender. (just not enough blood) An evening watching White Christmas methinks.

Good to hear you in good spirits and glad you enjoyed your food. I would love all of it bar the suchi. I prefer my fish tomhit the pan! But glad for you.

Evening all.

Had some almond butter and cream for breakfast, bacon eggs and cheese for lunch followed by some 85% chocolate - shared with colleagues to avoid eating too much of it - and chicken wings 50/50 split between garlic Parmesan and lemon pepper flavour. Manager of the store came over to say she’d give me a meal on the house next time I’m in as I’m one of their most regular customers :)

Updating to say also finished off the mini flourless chocolate cake when I got home.

It’s also never occurred to me to grate more cheese than I need. I hate grating cheese - always catch my thumbnail, and I hate washing up the grater so it makes perfect sense to grate a big batch, thanks!
Have been grating fiddly little bits for my morning omelette every day. Like you it's the washing up that gets irritating. Longing for the days when breakfast used a mug, bowl and spoon.

Today I woke ridiculously early. Drank a lot of coffee but couldn’t bring myself to take Dennis out for his morning walk in the cold frosty beautifully wintery day without breakfast. 2 rashers streaky, mushrooms, spinach.
Lunch after the long walk was a tin of mackerel in oo. 1/2 avocado, coleslaw made with the vegan mayo ( which had gone a bit runny) and a couple of celery sticks. Then sf jelly&cream and a grated HC button on top.
Dinner the Iceland Wild Red Shrimp recommended by @maglil55 I agree it was delicious. Didn’t have any lc noodles so served on a bed of spinach. Pack says 2 servings but tbh I’d happily scoff the lot, still <2g carb. Oh and a slice of the new Skinny Bread to mop up the sauce! Yay what a difference the yeast makes!!!!! Choc orange chia pud to follow.
