A belated Happy Birthday @Annb. xxxBreakfast: ham with some crackers - had to break the crackers up and cut the ham into small pieces so that I didn't have to chew too much - gums still very sore. About 24 g carbs.
2nd meal: not long finished. Stupidly, I chopped up some salad vegetables into chunks, quite forgetting that I can't chew. Quite a bit of pain later, I gave up. Had a cup of milky coffee and left it at that. That put the BG up and it is now 10.9.
I guess it will have to be soft foods for a while yet. I'll make some veg soup tomorrow - quite a lot I expect, to keep me going for a while.
I'll be 76 tomorrow, so will be "celebrating" with milk shakes and soup. I received a birthday card from my brother today and when we spoke, I said that I didn't feel very celebratory and that I haven't really enjoyed my 70's. He agreed and says he's not really looking forward to his 80's (arriving next year). He has had a pre-op consultation with the anaesthetist at his local hospital who told him that while they would take the greatest care, a stroke is a very common result of this surgery at his age. Happy thought! However, there is very little choice since they have to find out if the tumour is malignant. **** 70's!
Doctors sometimes need a good injection of bedside manner. I appreciate they have to tell you the risks but a little bit of "coating" wouldn't go amiss.
