What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Goodness you are taking risks ! Splurging and then fasting? Are you joking ?
You should be eating steadily and carefully- I’m sure you know that. We all go off the rails a little bit but this sounds extreme and very dangerous. It isn’t your gadget you shouldn’t trust but your commitment.
I think your view is a little harsh. The concept and practice of ‘feasting and fasting’ is not inherently dangerous, indeed it’s promoted by many experts in fasting for health, including Dr Jason Fung - see this article. Many on here (including me) find intermittent fasting to be an excellent adjunct to a low carb/ketogenic way of eating.

And to get back on topic, so far I‘ve not eaten anything today. Am peckish but meeting a friend for lunch, so saving myself for that. Details and possibly pics later.

Consumption has been limited to a pint of iced water with fresh lime and pink salt and some Diet Coke! Hopefully lunch will cover me for the day, but if not there are some cold meats in the fridge.

Hi there. No. Not all carbs are off the menu, but many of us choose to take a very light touch with them. That's pretty much what I do and have had decent success with that since 2013.

One thing a number of people do comment upon though is that they don't get on with cereals, and even less so in the mornings.

Do you do finger prick testing on your bloods to see how the things you eat are affecting you? Do you take any meds for your diabetes?
Never been told to prick testing, just go to the doctors every 3 months for tests its usually the one that tells you your average level it started at 94 but for the last 6 months its sitting at 40,

Firstly, really well done on that stocking reductio. Self testing just helps highlight the foods that raise our bloods a lot, and more than the individual cares for.

I don’t eat wheat or grains (for a couple of reasons I’ll spare you. ), but when I did my blood sugars used to increase more than I liked.

To be honest, katittley, I try to avoid telling people they are eejits. I might prefer to ask howtheir eating plan is working for them and go from there.

Many living with T2 like to extend their fasts, sometimes by longer than 24 hours.

looking at the medication @Stephen Bond is on, I can’t find anything in the patient information leaflet that suggests steady eating carefully and steadily is required. Do you have any specifics on that? I‘d be happy to learn So that I can be of assistance to others

10am kefir and my supplements
12ish some bits of blue cheese along with some sauerkraut and kimchi and three LC seed crackers followed by a few frozen berries mixed with yoghurt and four squares of 100% Montezumas absolute black with almonds
3ish LC cookie
5ish venison meatballs in hm passata (@DJC3 feel envious of your venison steak looks delicious) plus a glass of much needed red wine followed by LC warmed blondie with some yoghurt.

Wasn't feeling great this morning, headache and nausea so stayed in bed until noon. Wondering if it was body reacting to the mashed potato I had yesterday lunchtime.

Baked a double lot of the cheesy seedy soda bread, now sliced and in the freezer. Didn't have either butter or whole chia seeds to subbed suet for the butter and milled seeds for the whole. Made a denser loaf but still worked OK. I was worried though because the raw mix was much thicker and heavier than usual. Baked ok though

Mid afternoon broke my fast with 2 éclairs found frozen in the freezer.

D: the M&s chicken shwarma. Served with carrot, runner beans and fried mushrooms. Very tasty.
As everyone else says, wouldn't serve 6 and quite pricey but will mean many a try to emulate it cheaper. I got 4 portions out of it.
1 sq hm lc coffee cake with half a scoop coffee ice cream

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a food dr bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Dinner: cheesy scrambled egg on marmite on LC toast followed by SF blackcurrant jelly and cream.

Went to the sea today, definitely the wrong spot for collecting seaweed. Technical story to do with it being the 'wantij' (couldn't find a translation) where two currents of the upcoming tide meet, resulting in lots of muddy sediment. Long story short: can't walk out far enough for seaweed without getting stuck in the mud.

Found a cool video on how to transform nori sheets to tasty crunchy snacks like the ones that scarred @Annb so much though!
So much better than the store bought ones!
I used olive oil, that being the only cooking oil I have, worked fine. :)
It didn't go as smooth as in the video, but I guess it wasn't her first time as it was for me so that's ok!

Turned the last of my veggie-pork belly-peanut sauce dish into a thick peanut soup with a semi soft boiled egg and some of the nori chips. Had more nori chips when passing tham on my way to the bathroom. Will have to buy more nori, I absolutely love this!

Three hard boiled eggs, two slices of toast for breakfast.
Savoury pig liver and bacon, and onions, tomatoes in the brew, hope that will keep the blood count on the straight an narrer for lunch.
Cold chicken leg, handful of cherry tomatoes for supper at six.

Glass of single malt before a early night to bed, turned the home oxygen up by 0.5 litres a minute t0 2.5 lltrs / min as my SPo2 was down. Back up to 98% this morning.

Your dinner looks good!

On the question of currents I wonder if confluence is what you mean.

Almost 8am here, so yesterday was:

Brekkers: Yog + persimmon for the carbtastic MrB whilst I had a couple of hard boiled eggs with some cucumber, tomato and a dollop of mayo (and a little sriracha on the side)

Lunch didn’t happen, although MrB had a yum yum with his coffee whilst we were doing what serves for a big shop.

Dinner: I have Tom Kha Gai, which is a coconut based main course soup type dish, with lots of chicken. Very aromatic with rich coconut milk. No low fat here! MrB had Masaman Curry with white rice

Cow's milk day today. FBG was 7.0 at 3.45 am. One cup of tea with milk and 2 teaspoons of yoghurt to take pills. BG at 6.45 - 8.4. That's different to yesterday when BG remained in 7's most of the day. We shall see how it goes.

Breakfast will be bacon and eggs.
2nd meal will be that mince and egg casserole that Goonergal described a few posts back with some braised leeks.
I will be drinking tea/coffee with milk during the day.

Thursday 19 January - bed 8.2 FBG 7.8 Legs are being a bit off again. Hopefully, it's not another bug!

B. TAG and, when I returned from school runs etc, a bit warmed up crustless quiche (that's it finished again)

L. Nothing. Grandson got out 30 mins earlier for lunch as he'd cut his hand on ice. He was perfectly happy with a relaxed lunch at ours instead of the usual rush.

D. I'd been pondering on this and decided to use a SRSLY (is that SLCs new moniker?) Seeded roll to make tuna melts. I mixed up tuna, mayo, mustard, lemon juice, chopped parsley, jumbo spring onion - chopped and chopped tomato. Grated 4 cheese mix also stirred through. Split the SRSLY seeded roll, buttered, piled the mix on and popped in the oven for a good 10 mins. I can confirm the SRSLY seeded roll makes a very good tuna melt. The roll was crisp and the filling stays put.
DGF vegan brownie with 4 strawberries and a dash of cream.

I really like these rolls. I haven't had a melt in ages. I recall the early days when Oopsie bread had to be made for them due to the lack of LC alternatives. Having said that, I do like the Oopsies.

Edited to add - I didn't have the gin yesterday but I did have a gin and zero lemonade today (with a strawberry) before dinner. Still drinking the Tasmanian gin.

@Stephen Bond we seem to be haunted by tibs of Roses/Quality Street etc everywhere we go at this time of year. I used to love them, but now I know they'll taste far too sweet for me. Hotel Chocolat gin truffles are an entirely different matter though

As usual around 10ish a few spoons of kefir with my daily supplements. I try to restrict proper breakfasts to weekend only so that have regular longer periods of fasting during most of week. I also try to restrict any alcohol to Thursday to Sunday and try to stick to one glass when do drink.working out what's workable for you is key to trying to manage your blood sugars.
1ish portion of sauerkraut and kimchi with a few walnuts followed by two eggs fried in butter on one slice of low carb toast then a couple of squares of 100% chocolate
3ish low carb cookie
5ish salmon in lemon butter with a few peas and a couple of hm new potato chips with glass of dry white wine then for pudding LC chocolate brownie warmed and served with yoghurt

B: hm lc yoghurt with milled chia seeds and 6 frozen cherries
Pub lunch: fizzy water, omelette with bacon and brie, mint tea
Back home, munchies hit whilst straining some damson vodka I'm making, so 2 or 3 of the vodka soaked damsons and 5, yes 5! Sqs of 70% raspberry chocolate. That's 45g carbs in chocolate alone. Was going to guy more tomorrow but think perhaps I shouldn't

Nothing else today.

Yesterday:
Breakfast: scrambled eggs
Lunch: Tinned salmon, baby spinach, tomato, onion, black turtle beans, beetroot
Snack: Pistachios
Dinner: Chicken mince with ginger, garlic, fresh chilli, lemon grass, oyster sauce, fish sauce. 1/4 cup of rice to counteract insulin because the rest was almost zero carbs
Dessert: low-carb protein bar
