Saturday 12 August - bed bed 7.9 FBG 8.2. I woke up this morning to find that standing is a problem, and driving would be impossible with the state of my right leg and foot. Pins and needles on the left, too, but nowhere near as bad as the right.

B. 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ham and egg mayo and usual TAG. Benecol dairy free

L. Gin and zero - to take the edge off the P&N!

D. Made a quesadilla with 2 SRSLY wraps - cheese, red pepper, spring onion, pancetta, tomato.

CC little chocolate pot.

Most of the day was spent working on my legs to try to relieve the pain. Hubby has had to take on all cooking duties.

Sunday 13 August - bed & FBG both 7.7. We were all going out today for a late lunch/early dinner as it was the last Sunday before schools go back on Wednesday. Driving is still out of the question, so a taxi got me door to door with 2 crutches.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ham and a cheese triangle. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing

D. Peroni 00 - didn't feel like anything alcoholic. Smoked salmon to start. Beautifully served and dressed. I couldn't resist the roast beef dinner. Rare roast beef, asparagus, carrot, parsnip slices, roast potatoes (I ate a half), and the biggest Yorkshire pudding I've ever seen! I did eat half of that, too!

CC little chocolate pot when I got home.

Rest of the evening consisted of water and paracetamol. I'd had a dreadful night's sleep (or lack thereof), and I suspected tonight would be the same.

Low carb wrap turned pizza.
And here's how that experiment ended.
Thankfully I could save just enough to know it tasted really good, and next time I'll give it a little longer than the 11 minutes this one had before disaster struck, I also think heat from the top only will be better.
I hope chickens like pizza and all evidence will have disappeared in the morning.

I had raw chicory leaves with hummus and some chocolate instead of the lost pizza. :)

Not sure about the chickens chances: One of the dogs just jumped on the bed with a very round belly and breath pungent enough to scare off a whole squadron of vampires.
Other dog smelt (smelled?) it and disappeared in the direction of the garden 10 minutes ago and hasn't returned yet.

B: some cold cooked chicken with mayo
Lovely long beach walk with dogs, sunny but breezy
L: manchego cheese with cucumber, tomato and radishes. Coffee ice cream with added cream. This is a supposedly low calorie ice cream but it's so sweet, and the portion size is huge so I halved it and added double cream
D: 2 90% sausages broccoli and cauliflower. I did eat an onion bhaji while main was cooking.12g carbs. Blaming hubby for having them in the house.
1 glass red.

We head home on Wednesday so starting to clear fridge.

Morning all. Pensioners lunch was mostly carbs yesterday so I was very surprised to get a 7.0 reading at bedtime. Didn't believe it so did it again...6.8! How? When I had so many carbs? But I am taking Cinnamon since I stopped the Metformin. Could it be working? Hopefully. It's a carb free day today. I have chicken breast to air fry and l/c sausages to nibble on plus a made-up salad. Fingers crossed. Tomorrow I am going on a coach trip and we are stopping for a carvery so I can be good again. Have a good day folks

Step daughter came for the day yesterday, didn't know when she would arrive and I didn't want to waste time in the kitchen faffing when we could be chatting, so I made a chicken a veg soup in the slow cooker. SD and OH had had pieces of s fresh French stick and butter with theirs, I had a lovely splash of cream in mine. Had strawberries and cream for afters.

For supper had some leftover soup, a small chunk of cheddar and a handful of almonds.

Hope everyone has a lovely and pain free day today. how I do sympathise when legs play up. Belated Happy Birthday Ann!

Thank you @JenniferM55, it was a happy one. Well, the fact that it happened at all has to be a positive. Very much enjoyed the medieval music CD Neil gave me - just listening to it again now. Had a surprise visit from Em and her mum late in the day - Em had been in Stornoway all day and came in when they were on their way out again to go canoeing. And contrary to "standing orders" brought gifts - a batter dispenser for pancakes and a digital weighing spoon. Very kind and imaginative. Not sure how much use I'll make of them, but when I can stand up again, I will give them a go. Probably the first time Em comes in from school, we'll make some pancakes. I'll mix the batter and Em can bake the pancakes. She'll be eating them after all.

Last evening the easiest thing for me to eat was raspberries and yoghurt. So that's what I had. BG went up a bit to 9.4 after a couple of hours and looked to be carrying on up, so I took a tiny correction dose and it held steady at 7.4 by bedtime. 6.4 this morning.

Feeling fairly peckish after 2 cups of tea and my basal insulin. Maybe I could have a RyVita with some cheese. I do have some eggs within reach but the hob is so high from this silly chair. Might manage to scramble a couple though.

2nd meal will have to be some lamb leg steaks -probably do something in the oven with a bit of left-over broccoli and some baby plum tomatoes. Should be able to manage that all sitting down.

I wonder would a perching stool help you at the hob Ann thats if you can get from wheelchair to perching chair safely and back again.
I tried a perching stool a few months ago but it wasn't much help in terms of reaching the hob - must be the design of the cooking surface - too far back maybe. I'll figure something out. Breakfast ended up being microwave baked cheese and eggs using some Edam that Neil brought in with the shopping - easy to reach the microwave.

Spicy food which is too hot. Nasty people who have no idea on your life journey but feel the need to comment and be cruel.
Coffee and cream
Coffee and unsweetened almond milk
Sausages tomato and avocado small.
Chicken breast and tomato

Just persuaded DIL to try LCHF. She had thought that it was just low carb but she needed to keep going with the low calorie, low fat, meat heavy diet she had tried before. Her diet recently has been fairly high carb, low fat, low sugar, reduced quantity plus exercise which she can no longer do due to the injury to her spine. She finds it easy enough to refuse if she is offered "treats" because people know she is diabetic and she would be embarrassed to be seen to accept, but when she is alone and hungry, she will reach for something carby in all likelihood. If she can, instead, reach for cold meat, cheese, nuts or somesuch (which she has been denying herself), she might actually see some results. She agrees it is worth trying anyway. The family will do their best to help by altering their diets to include less dependence on carbs.

I have just put a veg/lamb mix to braise in the oven for my 2nd meal today - chunks of lamb leg steak with broccoli, onion and tomato in chicken stock. Quite a bit of fat on the lamb which I may, or may not, eat. I like lamb fat but it will flavour the dish anyway.

Would something like this help?
They're cheap, and you can use it on a table from your chair instead of cooking at the counter, which is too high.

@Annb congratulations on helping your DIL hopefully she'll enjoy the foods shes able to eat as well as seeing results - it's all a lot easier if enjoying. When I started Keto 6 years ago after lots of years of very very low fat and strict calorie counting ( whilst feeling hungry and staying diabetic and overweight ) I couldn't believe that eating full fat and not adding up calories was acceptable and also, as I saw results straight away, I'd never go back.
black coffee until 12
12ish hm hummus with a couple of radishes and stick of celery followed by a few berries and yoghurt and two squares of 100% chocolate
5ish pulled pork with LC wrap and a salad of spinach leaves, a few garden tomatoes and avocado and glass of dry white wine followed by LC summer fruits blondie.

There's a thought. I have one put away somewhere. I was using it on the countertop before Neil bought the new hob for me. Never thought of putting it on the table. There's even a gas one somewhere - standby in case of lengthy power cuts.

I had a perching chair initially. I could never adapt to it. I kept sliding off!

Monday 14 August - bed 7.9 FBG 6.7. Another miserable night. I think I overdid the boots. Muscles in both legs were solid, and it took me ages to loosen them. Even worse, the same solid tightness surrounded both ankles, which made it nigh on impossible to walk. At least the pins and needles have gone, but there are signs of inflammation in the right foot. I'll give it a couple of days, but if it's still the same, I reckon I'll have to try to get a GP appointment.

B. TAG and a bacon/egg sandwich with 2 slices of SRSLY bread. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing

D. Hubby found salt and pepper squid in the freezer, which I had with salad. CC Little chocolate pot with 3 raspberries. Moretti Zero later, when I felt a little better.

I'm wishing I'd kept the zimmer from my post operation days all these years ago.
