Please forgive me for being forward (but I tend to be that way), but I think Mr Slim should be with you at this point of time in the sale of your house to ensure it all goes through smoothly.

You and Mr Slim need to have a heart to heart, albeit by Skype/Zoom. You need to stop keeping things from him, in your belief that he won't be worried. You need to lay everything out to him, and both of you discuss, properly.

This is doing your health no good.

(PS...I am the person who would have been exactly as you are now, shouldering everything, so I do understand how you feel)

Hugs @SlimLizzy x
@SlimLizzy I totally agree with everything that @gennepher has written in her post.

That's despite a very late dinner, bowl of nut granola and small glass of red wine at 11pm when I suddenly realised I hadn't eaten.
Red wine opened to use in lasagne and also red onion marmalade. Kiki doesnt approve of the onion chopping, she was squinting and frequently sneezing.
A kilo of onions produced two small jars of marmalade.
It's sunny today with a light breeze so might wash the sheets.
However the biggest issue is that i have found out why the glass door is stiff. Some if the plaster between the wall and the runners has cracked and shifted. Think it will be a very tricky repair. And on pulling out a piece of furniture discovered flaking plaster behind there too. Not sure if we have any if that colour paint left. The unusually wet weather a month ago has apparently caused some rising damp and there is limewash flaking off in the hallway, on the opposite side of the wall. MrSlim joked that the house will resent being soid and it seems he is right.
Really need MrSlim here,
The French legal system requires us to be responsible for faults in the building for ten years, even after it is sold. So we would have to bear the cost of any repairs for a further four years. I have known about this and worried about it intermittently, but MrSlim is says its not likely to be a problem. Doesn't look like that to me. Don't think I can live with it hanging over me, so again am reconsidering whether to move just now. And wondering what the financial penalties would be if we did drop out of the sale now. The agents have expended considerable time and effort finding us a buyer. Surely that can't be free?
Also I know that there is a legal clause frequently applied to non proffesional work on a house, whereby the seller declares all known faults and problems and the buyer accepts the house as it is with no redress for "hidden" problems that appear later. Essential to declare everything in this case, because if it is believed the seller did know about something and not reveal it , then prosecution is possible. Was expecting to have this applied, but the agent is very definite about our obligations a ten years guarantee for the work MrSlim has done. With liability if anything fails.
Spent hours looking for a suitable home yesterday, but with my anxieties about the sale it's not going well. Haven't heard from MrSlim for over twenty four hours, which is very unusual. Apart from email confirmation of ferry ticket for myself to attend the wedding and return to France afterwards. ON MY OWN.
Kiki is no help, a cuddle would be great, but she will have none if it.
Stressed and almost immobilised with panic but I had better try and do something useful. Perhaps coffee will help?
@SlimLizzy I totally agree with everything that @gennepher has written in her post.
@gennepher of course forgiven.
The only thing I hid from Mr slim was the mower getting stuck, which I did tell him about once it was safely recovered.
He doesn't know about the problems discovered yesterday yet. Its not kind to hit him with bad news when he has only just woken up.

7.2 this morning. Still a little high after our wonderful, but naughty meal out on Saturday. It was worth it as I really enjoyed it. Tomorrow it should be a much more normal reading for me.

Had a lovely day yesterday teaching classes and my ankle was pain free at the end of it. I walked up the road to the pub during the break using my nordic walking poles properly as my ankle now has a much better range of movement this week.

Morning all on a bright start to Tuesday in L.A. The bill for the sunshine yesterday became due this morning in the form of Hive triggering the heating as the temperature where the thermostat is was 16 °C rather than the 17 at which it is set from 7.30 until 9.15 (16 overnight). Interesting stories of skulduggery with bins. Much as I have a low opinion of this area we have not experienced such problems so you all have my sympathy. Our bins are inspected and labelled if too heavy or contain the wrong items (plastic bags in the recycling bin is the top problem) - not seen anyone actually measure the size of branches but no food waste in the brown bin, big no no - as yet there is no malicious dumping. @gennepher and @dunelm thank you for sharing your creative talents. @gennepher I had never heard of rag paper so thank you. @Krystyna23040 good news on yesterday going so well and the pleasure of that meal carrying over into this week. @SlimLizzy hug for the stress and worry of the house selling and buying process, especially with Mr Slim not being there, you have my admiration. Here, there is still some of Sunday's goose meat left - all the wonderful skin has been eaten. I'm full of respect for those ancients who observed the whole fast for St Martin's Advent (see attached) - admittedly probably meant something like OMAD with no meat. Have as good a Tuesday as possible, everyone.

I would like to write good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen, so I will. Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.2.

It’s been a busy time in Tilehurst Towers the last few days, culminating yesterday with a trip into another county, luckily past ports were not required, just glare from Mrs J as we crossed the border.

Now I must away be, to darken other doors, stay safe all

Sorry to intrude on your day but I'm confused by this and despite 99 other problems it somehow really matters:
In recent years, male supremacist ideology has become mainstream, promoted by manosphere entrepreneurs who are thriving in the attention economy by feeding young men’s resentment towards women.
I understand and am familiar with the use of all the words but never before in this combination or used in this way. Allowing for the fact the writer is female and almost certainly what many (perjoratively) call progressive, if even 20-30% of this is accurate (and I strongly suspect she is much more spot on) there is a huge gulf between my/our generation and the world of whichever letter gen to which she belongs. This is important to me, way beyond the ultimately futile pursuit of bg control via diet - Keynes had it right about the long run - as I have children and grandchildren - of which 5 are girls - that I love. Manosphere entrepreneurs; the attention economy; political lesbianism??? Just in case anyone is interested, full piece here. Perhaps The Handmaid's tale was not that far fetched - I read about it but haven't watched.

More lighthearted than my last offering here are two pieces. The first is the Evening meals at chateau P for the next few days - well it is white truffle season and Carlo Caporicci flew in for a couple of days :D The second requires some knowledge of football (ers) US politics, deep fakes and AI. I know @SlimLizzy finds football and its culture distasteful but this is, imho, very well done and brings together seemingly unconnected ideas very cleverly. What did happen to Jimmy Dimly or is he just a sleeper for a couple of years?

tried that, but for some reason can't get this newish PC to take a screenshot. It will at other times but it won't give me screenshot on my menus on this jpg. The jpg itself is too big for the site to accept. There's probably a way, but I just don't know what it is.
Hi Ann.

Had meant to get back earlier, but life.....meh.

I've used irfanview for many years on our laptop.

But my use of laptop has declined greatly since accident.

But your pic issues intrigued me, so checked it out to see the benefits in such situations.

It offers easy resizing.
A pic that at 1200 pixels was 2.8 mbs

At 600 pixel size came down to 89 kilobytes.

Much more than I thought it would.

Anyway
I use it on W10, I was able to access it when I had Linux dual operation on previous laptop, using WINE.*

I see no reason why it would have changed, but no expert with Linux distros.

Just thought id mention it.

Edit:
Seems wine 'may' be temperamental and also link offers alternatives if Linux only

I have seen and been amongst, the same peer pressure from many different aspects of the male dominance, misogynistic attitude prevalent among the many parts of my working and leisure life.
from my single sex grammar school, to my football playing, coaching and working.
from supporters of my club, to my many family reports with their experience.
from my metropolitan background in a deprived area.
Dockers and car factory workers.
to the media and social networks.
it is in your face, everywhere.
So, why are some critics surprised, when someone expresses the insistent propaganda of British thinking and expectations that are taught.
Privilege breeds it in our societal mindset.

I gave a funny but it could be rude and need reporting. Vigilant I know but that word in bold???
FYI only, the word in bold is a type of pistol used in such literary classics Milord of the Rings, Shylock and hounds of Vogon poetry and of course Red persons of Restricted Growth ;-)

Should be on one of them postcards from New Brighton.
First thing my trekkie brain came up with in reply to the cloaking bit from @dunelm.
I am running on fumes, as I've had only three hours sleep.
6.6 this whatever it is.
Mid afternoon and first chance to sit down. I have much to do and no etc.

So, I'm gonna do my kitchen duties, try and return later.
Best wishes.
