What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

FYI only, the word in bold is a type of pistol used in such literary classics Milord of the Rings, Shylock and hounds of Vogon poetry and of course Red persons of Restricted Growth ;-)
Could well be, could well be. Wah gwaan mhy yute, everting gud? style of thing. Some kind of argot such as Polari or Cockerknee?

Sorry to intrude on your day but I'm confused by this and despite 99 other problems it somehow really matters:
In recent years, male supremacist ideology has become mainstream, promoted by manosphere entrepreneurs who are thriving in the attention economy by feeding young men’s resentment towards women.
I understand and am familiar with the use of all the words but never before in this combination or used in this way. Allowing for the fact the writer is female and almost certainly what many (perjoratively) call progressive, if even 20-30% of this is accurate (and I strongly suspect she is much more spot on) there is a huge gulf between my/our generation and the world of whichever letter gen to which she belongs. This is important to me, way beyond the ultimately futile pursuit of bg control via diet - Keynes had it right about the long run - as I have children and grandchildren - of which 5 are girls - that I love. Manosphere entrepreneurs; the attention economy; political lesbianism??? Just in case anyone is interested, full piece here. Perhaps The Handmaid's tale was not that far fetched - I read about it but haven't watched.
Reading this makes me so sad. It feels like the world is regressing into the dark ages.

Another, like many I'd say with 'skin In the game'

Two much loved women ( wife & daughter ) who I want to protect from those who think like that.

So many, willing to fight back.
IMHO that was the essence of Kamala's 107 days but the toxic side of the manosphere outlined in that piece is where the money and as it turned out voters were so Trump/Musk fully leaned into that.

This is very worrying but I fear that governments will be too weak to address any and all issues that are perpetuated online. Trickling streams always seem to be taken as “nothing to worry about” until they become rivers bursting their banks.

Good morning everyone on a Wednesday special sunshiney start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.6 this am. Diabetic review came and went - all prods on feet from the tickling stick accurately reported and a 3kg deficit from the last weigh in. Other than that, wait for the samples to be examined by those experienced in interpreting the eating habits of chickens. As the sun is shining we are off to Whitby today - there may be some hunter gathering around chish and fip establishments, closely followed by strange body popping to avoid the attention of seagulls. Art bit - red roofs. Hope your day goes well. Quality Street now come in refill bags so get in the shed and empty that tin of nuts and bolts. Best make koffy.

Morning all from L.A. where the weather is as sombre as befits the week of Remembrance Sunday and Veteran's day. My fbg remains a closely guarded secret as I am not checking just now. In an effort to be even remotely useful here is an article which examines the possible dietary drawbacks of Elsie Keto (there’s a crack in everything … eh Leonard?) with some ways to fight back. The table of 27 micronutrients seems useful. It also has free shipping on all US orders - really is the land of the free - for now (per Dolores Umbridge not U Know Who). @dunelm good news on the diabetic review and weight, well done. Thank you for sharing the art: just enough red to lift the whole piece. I think I may have watched too much Masterchef, the Professionals. Quality Street? - so last century. Tins of nuts and bolts? Took me two years to find, sort and dispose of the tins, tubs, sacks, jars, of nuts, bolts, plumbing fittings, screws, pipes, lead, planes, saws, hammers, screwdrivers, two man saws, scythes, wood, cement mixers and bricks my dad kept in three sheds, a garage and large garden. @Krystyna23040 good to hear you will be close to home today. Our grandson is having a hard time lately firstly with Osgood-Schlatter's disease now a bad case of hand, foot and mouth. He has thrown himself wholeheartedly into secondary school and, like many I have seen over the years, towards the end of term one fatigue catches up. Just how much drivel can one bloke pollute a thread with I hear you shout? Enough already, y'all make something delicious with the day's mystery ingredients.

10.5 at 04.30 today. That's the result of a couple of crackers yesterday evening - I was very hungry. BG was up to 15 during the night so 10.5 isn't bad.
Hunger, (and coldness) the curse of the low carb classes. I appreciate what LC has done for me by helping me to avoid the ravages of runaway T2 but I'm not blind to the downsides: we're back to Leonard's crack in everything (talented wordsmith, awful voice - more a growling, grating sound to my ears. A voice made for silent movies :playful: ) Take care.

6.8 this Christmas eve again.
Washing on line, Mrs L decided it was laundry day.
Well it's not going to rain, is it?
And we always have a change of bedding chrimbo eve, don't we?
Yes dear!
Gammon and crown came out of the freezer and went straight back in.
Mrs L lost her purse, but it was were I knew it was.

Of course being prescription day, I have been phoning surgery and pharmacy again, it is something that the doctors and staff should be doing, but it's not.
Every four weeks they have to make three or even more deliveries instead of just one. Madness.

A lot of plans to think about, gonna have to consider what is a priority.

Lots to do, gotta ......
Best wishes on your afternoon and evening.

I do hope your grandson feels a lot better very soon @ianpspurs .

Very interesting article about keto. I hadn't realised that keto was high fat and low protein - so was really pleased that on reading about the problems with keto that I actually haven't been doing it.

I have been prioritising protein and not going overboard with the fat. Have been eating the protein with the fat it comes with and restricting the very high fat stuff like cream. Luckily have been eating seeds, nuts and lots and lots of the green stuff also. Very interesting article.
