is that good or bad news?
I can't decide.
Try and enjoy the rest mate.
keep us informed.
thoughts and prayers for you.
best wishes.

lovely creative @gennepher.
And of course @dunelm as well.

have got a tickle in my throat as well which usually turns into a cold!

hence the 7.0 FBG this morning.
what a horrible cold wet and windy morning we have here on the peninsula. There is puddles, if not lakes everywhere. Bit better this afternoon. Still far too wet to do any gardening. And to get some fresh air. To do my breathing exercises that @ianpspurs recommended, I think! Gotta go. A friend of a friend is coming round with some goods for our freezer.
My best wishes to you all as always!
Thank you @Lamont D and all the best with the breathing exercises

Pleased to hear from you @JohnEGreen - you might need a power bank to keep your phone topped up or a lead measured in yards to reach the nearest socket.

Can't remember this morning's BG but it wasn't sky high.

My komboucha arrived at lunchtime. No sweeteners but it was stared with cane sugar - not much of it left after fermentation though. It has lots of different flowers and leaves in it and smells to me like beer - odd sort of taste, very floral. Looks like beer as well. Might get used to it but it's early days. I wonder if it is effective if I water it down a bit.

Done very little today - cleaned a few plant pot holders which Neil cleared out of the front porch to clear the shelf which had to be removed so that he could take the plasterboard off the wall, washed up a few big pots from yesterday, made my bed and decifed to rest my legs and, at the same time, get into the Find My Past website. That was a mistake. I found that they had lost both ends of my family tree again, or I did, because someone had duplicated some of the entries and when I tried to get rid of them, the rest disappeared. So I've spent the major part of the day reinstating everything back to the 1200's and forward from the 1700's. Didn't even think about having breakfast or lunch or pills. Finally got it sorted out about 1830 and started making some food.

There was a silver lining though - I discovered that the same family married into two lines of my family, one in the 1600's and before her one in the 1400's. That was leading to some confusion but it makes sense now. This takes us back to Gorm the Old in the 900's (an ancestor of Harald Bluetooth Gormisson). Neil is unimpressed but I find it fascinating. I know that going that far back, thousands must be related in the same way to these folk but it's great to be able to find them.

You know you got us all rooting for ya .

Got a little worried things weren't good, but then I remembered ....time is hospital is just in another dimension.

Bonus you've got a bed space, but a little miffed for you the ops been delayed.

Just be careful, I knew this chap who always had a cunning plan...

Hope it's not him doing the op ...eek.

Best wishes

This is not lying.
You are actually being kind because attempting to insist on your own reality will only upset, anger or confuse her.
Am sure you will have experienced this.
A quote for you:
“If you have the choice between being right and being kind, choose being kind”
Such wise words @SlimLizzy .

And I know in your heart you know this @Lamont D .

God forgive me, but I never told mum that dad had died.

She'd be upset, obviously.
But I'd have to remind of that fact every single day because she'd forget ....and THAT, so wasn't happening.

You can't not lie, Mrs L is, as Lizzie says, rooted in THAT reality at times, sadly.

How distressing for her to think that what she deeply believes in, isn't true.

The things love makes us do, @Lamont D .

Hang tough mate & try to enjoy the more peaceful moments.

Just read @dunelm 's post @JohnEGreen
Did you not say a while ago that you had one of those heated jackets?
Sorry if I have this wrong, but if you did say that, then you can run your phone off that power pack. There will be enough juice when it is fully charged to charge your phone a few times. You just need the right connector lead, which might be the same lead, or you can use the lead from your current lead that plugs into the electrics.

Just a thought.

Hope you had a decent sleep last night.

Good morning everyone on a sunny, bird chirping start the to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Early dinner out last night - table for 10. We have a reunion this evening. Mrs Miggins organises them every couple of years. So this afternoon it’s last minute “fine tuning” at the venue and then booking into a nearby hotel readying ourselves for the evening. Art bit - mixed media doodle. Hope you all have a good day. I need koffy.

Morning all from L.A. where spring most definitely ain't sprung. Bitterly cold wind and heavy rain at times yesterday but marginally better today in that the showers will only be light and the breeze fresh.:arghh: @JohnEGreen I hope you are more comfortable and cared for today and there really is a plan for your treatment that actually works. Thoughts and prayers with you. @dunelm thanks for sharing the art and enjoy the reunion. @Krystyna23040 how kind of Mr K to drive you in his new car - wipe your shoes first please. Bizarre speech by Rish! yesterday basically telling everyone that 14 years of the party he leads pumping hate into the nation has made people hate others. In that sense and that sense alone the plan, if there ever was one, is working. This year has seen a sprint for the line in that regard and the last week or two have been a disgrace. Here #1 son and JKP will try to gently persuade 94 yo MIL that the entire remaining contents of her bungalow can't come here and will need to go to house clearance . My very best wishes go with them - not an easy situation for any of them. The good news is JKP has organised for a local business to do this for free as they are confident it can be sold. Enjoy your day.

Great song choice.

Not sure that the komboucha works for me. Had a really bad turn last night and this morning which could have been a reaction to something but may not have been. The only new thing I had had was komboucha. Short of breath (sats 92%) and very fast pulse (120 but eventually 99/100). That would be normal for a reaction for me. On the other hand it may be that I haven't been taking on enough fluids the last few days. Especially yesterday because it took so long to get my glass of komboucha down. Not pleasant while it lasts but improving now (95% and 78 bpm) as long as I don't try to move around very much. Intending to have a fairly easy day of it. BG at 0345 was 9.4. Just had breakfast and insulin so we'll see how that goes. No more of the komboucha for a while, then I'll check again and see if the result is the same. Then I'll know. Actually wondering if the komboucha could be alcoholic at all - it is fermented after all.

@JohnEGreen - hope the weekend in the hospital isn't too boring for you and that it is all organised for the procedure on Monday. At least now you are in a proper space, not a cupboard or a corridor, but even so, their treatment of you has done nothing to reduce the stress level for you. Still praying for a swift end to this for you and a speedy recovery from it all.

Hug for the bad turn and downbeat vital signs. Are you still on antibiotics and/or still have the infection? As for Kombucha this may clarify things somewhat - or not. @jjraak thanks for validating my song choice - when did people start desperately needing validation? I guess does my bum look big in this or do you like me in this dress was always asking for validation. As you were. It does seem as if Gens X and Z seem to accuse their partners of not validating them enough every 30 seconds. Is that really so heinous? Anyone else find that tedious? Policemen look younger as well though.

Reply Just starting a new course of Trimethoprin this morning. That's the 4th course and at the moment, symptoms are less painful but still there in a different form. After this, I don't think there is much point taking more, if the result is the same. I don't think taking so much antibiotic is a good idea.

Thanks for the information on komboucha - I didn't know there were 2 kinds. Checked the label but can't see anything about "hard" komboucha and no mention of any alcohol at all. I suppose that means that there's just that small amount in it (0.5%). Since I don't take alcohol in any form, even that 0.5% could cause me problems - not sure. There was a time when Tom got drunk on brandy butter at Christmas on one ship, so a little could cause issues. However, I imagine that a cook on a ship would put plenty of brandy in the Christmas brandy butter, so maybe not.

Found this on line@Annb.

Some unpleasant side effects are sometimes associated with drinking too much kombucha.15

These include:

  • Stomach pain
  • Allergic reaction
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Headache16
However, scientific studies show the majority of sufferers either had a pre-existing illness or drank a contaminated batch of kombucha.17,18

Like with any live food or drink, it’s advised to allow your digestive system to adjust by building up the amount you drink gradually.

For example, start with 100ml a day for the first week and increase slowly. Also, it might not suit everyone.

Thanks for that advice. I actually do think it was the komboucha that did it. Over it now and getting back to normal. There appears to be a very small amount of alcohol in it, which may have triggered the effect. I'm told I don't hav e allergies because I don't swell up or develop a rash. It seems I have intolerances. Whatever they're called they are not pleasant.
