5.7 on libre this morning. Like others I find it a massive help to keep an eye on things despite the almost prohibitive cost. I have been watching the Glucose Goddess on the television. She gives tips and advice mainly about weight loss and reducing BS. Unfortunately she shows folks bringing down the BS and having very little spikes whereas although my BS has come down the libre graph looks like a hedgehogs back! There is nothing I can eat, even the recommended nuts in small portions adds a baby spike on daily curve despite using some of her tips to avoid spikes. Much like @JoKalsbeek and @PenguinMum everything I eat spikes my BS it is just a matter of how high and even low carb days don't seem to have much effect for next day.

I have always been baffled by the BS logic (if there is such a thing) but have learned enough to at least reduce my medication however I cannot see a pathway to eliminating medication altogether as suggested by many in the world of diabetes. I think for some of us it is just the way our bodies work and we have to manage it as best we can with meds, diet, exercise etc and using all the tools and measurements available. Sounds a bit negative but certainly for me the most practical.

If it's any help at all, sometimes we just do what we can, and the rest isn't up to us. A friend I met on here hasn't been on in ages because she feels like a fraud: Knows what to do and how to do it, but was unable to shift weight or get blood glucose control. Because sometimes, there are other factors at play, and we just have to work with what we've got.

It's nice if others can manage to get to their ideal, but for me, I'll just be pleased to avoid complications. Which might not be entirely possible, but I've learned there's only so much I can do and control. Hard lesson to learn, though, I have to admit. ;)

I get you

If I stick to mainly meat and eggs fish and butter I’m ok.

Almost everything else raises my glucose levels

Of course this would be academic if it wasn’t for the “ side affects” , the harms, which raised blood sugar creates and is associated with.

When I’m at home eating carnivore or ketovore is easier

Being out is much tougher

Been up for a while, but fasting, so a 7,9 on the Contour thanks to my beloved liver. Yesterday we ended up spending the morning in the frost covered heather, walking about 5,5k and with three camera's hanging off my shoulders, and we ran into some sheep and goats. I know not everyone loves the cold, but I sure do! It was breathtaking. :)

By the way, the Libre came off on Saturday morning, and there was a little dried blood under it, which I guess can happen when something punctures the skin. Just a little surprised I still have a red, Libre-shaped bruise, even if it is fading now compared to when it first came off. After removing it the area remained warm/angry to the touch for a while. Is that normal? Because I would like to repeat this experiment every year, or 6 months or something. When I first put it on it itched and burned, but that improved when I took some antihistamines, and I don't see any blisters... So it should be okay to repeat should I be curious about something again, right?

Anyway, thanks guys. :)
Jo

My last morning post using the expensive but amazing libre. I somewhat regret my concern about cost as it’s made the last 2 weeks in this unusual ( for me ) environment a useful and interesting exercise . I’ve tried local drug stores and there’s none to be had here

Anyhow 5 on the libre on waking , currently 6 while sipping coffee awaiting breakfast

Have a good week end all if you possibly can
It is a shame they are so expensive .
