What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi All, am days behind!
Not sure I can remember it all.

Did a cauldron chicken. And had chorizo crisps a couple of times, including today.
The yesterday was out and ended up having a v small, v anaemic steak with an egg on top and the smallest portion of chips i have ever seen. It was a mere garnish. Anyone else would have whinged, but it was perfect for me. Lol.

At some point I had scrambled egg too...

Today we had 100% beef squished together as burgers. With chilli cheese.

And i had one blob of the new ‘low cal’ icecream that Mr B bought.
Unfortunately, he didn’t read the lable properly. He saw 320 cals and thought it was Halo, only it wasnkt and it is lower fat and higher sugar. Only a single teaspoon raised me more than a big tablespoon of Halo. So it can stay in the freezer indefinitely.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream (2 tsp) washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch at Prèt a Manger with my daughter: avocado and crayfish salad followed by chocolate coconut bite.
Mid afternoon: dark chocolate and raspberry phd bar with a black coffee.
Dinner: mozzarella and mushroom omelette with cauliflower, broccoli and spring onion salad followed by strawberries and NEW FLAVOUR Oppo, chocolate cookie dough. It tasted like cookie dough but I was disappointed that there weren’t any actual lumps of dough :(

Evening all
@Goonergal the new GP sounds quite switched on re ketogenic diet. Glad your blood tests were ok
@shelley262 I hope your antibiotics and meds kick in soon so you start to feel better. I hadn’t heard about the high bg being good for ridding the body of viruses. It’s possibly the same reasoning as why we develop a high temp during infections - the viruses and bacteria cant tolerate it so it’s part of the body’s defense mechanism. How are you coping with looking after your son while being so poorly?

Today I’ve come to Cornwall - I said hi to @jayney27 and @vanillapie as I drove past - did your ears burn

Breakfast was scrambled egg, smoked salmon and 1/4 avocado. Coffee and cream.

Lunch was supposed to be a DD keto roll filled with chicken, avocado and mayo but I forgot my carefully prepared packed lunch. I do hope my daughter ( the one who still lives at home) has it for her lunch tomorrow, although the avocado may not be so nice by then. What a waste.
Luckily I’d already packed some low carb snack for emergencies this week so had a pack of pork crunch and a PhD bar ( cookies and cream) which saved me from having to get something from Costa. Did buy an Americano with cream from Costa for the journey though.

Dinner - with youngest daughter, cod fillet fried in butter and olive oil with mucrowave style cauli cheese and a portobello mushroom stuffed with spinach and feta. Couple of glesses of dry white wine ( so far)
Glad to read you have arrived safely and are already enjoying yourself, such a shame the weather has turned though, it had been beautiful until today. Never mind I’m sure you will still have a lovely weekend.

Hi all. Today’s menu was:

Breakfast - none

Lunch - M&S Serrano ham and manchego rollitos with a side salad. 5g carbs total and my BG shot up by 1.8 mmols!!! Had both items before (including together) with no issue. Bizarre.

Dinner - fathead pizza with pepperoni and Polish sausage topping followed by 3 Hotel Chocolat 100% buttons.

Yesterday Bed 7.7 FBG 6.2 but still sailing up into the low 8's and back again.
Still went to Aqua as the steam helps the cough. Busy day yesterday as today is No 2 grandson' s 5th birthday so had to pick up a cake and cupcakes for preschool and get his present - bent on roller skates so a quick tour to find them.
B. Slice Tescos high protein bread, lurpack , 6 slices small German sausage, lettuce and tomato.
Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream
L. Nothing
D. Air fried drumstick and thigh. Cheese and chive dip, lettuce, tomato, mozzarella pearls, 2 Walnuts and a baby beet.

Today - Friday
Bed 6.1 FBG 6.4. Still getting the yoyo effect and thus cough is annoying. Took No 1 grandson swimming in between delivering No 2 to pre school complete with cake, candles and a big Birthday Boy rosette and Yes - he got his roller skates.
B. Slice Tesco high protein bread, cream cheese and slice of ham. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.
L. Nothing - away swimming
D. Burger, cheese, onion , lettuce, tomato, 1/2 avocado, bit applewood smoked cheese, 3 walnuts
Lots of water.
It's Edinburgh Marathon weekend. It ends at grandsons school across the road from our house so it is a case am of making sure to get everything you need before tomorrow evening. The barricades are already going up. Boys still have to get to swimming so it will be permit on the car and allow 3 times as long and head for the back roads.

Good luck getting about during marathon @maglil55 and hope your Ill health resolves soon. I read about why bgs go up during illness today and learnt that it’s because of the stress hormones released as a reaction to infection so decided to tackle my stress more than usual and did a bit more resting and also three sessions of mindfulness only 10 mins each but got big results with all bgs back nearer normal again. This also helped the stress! Did not enjoy seeing high readings over past couple of weeks. Not better yet but improving slowly and enjoying the enforced rest ( ps don’t tell my OH) a bit weird for me though! I’m usually always rushing around. also I decided that I need a break from caring so passed the baton a bit more today and encouraged outings without me !
Breakfast boiled egg and one slice of buttered low carb bread
Lunch small mackerel salad
Dinner small chilli with low carb garlic bread and low carb raspberry mousse.

Happy Friday everyone!

Very typical menu for me today but scales suggest I've lost another couple of pounds. High fasting glucose this morning upon waking but I've been sleeping poorly for about two weeks so I'm hoping it's just that or the dawn phenomenon!!

L: Low carb bagel with a smear of butter, filled with Mattessons sausage and Red Leicester cheese
D: Chicken and chorizo kebabs with brie and mayonnaise on the side
Snacks: Adonis blondie, Cadbury's Highlights mocha with cream.

@vanillapie Those kebabs sound gorgeous!

I forgot to eat, then got ravenous while travelling, to did the 2x Maccies quarterpounders, with no buns or chips. :D
Then once home, Mr B wanted Bratwurst, but I could only face 1.

Oooh, oooh, oooooh. I might be inclined to give the chicken and chorizo kebabs a go, on the BBQ, then add some chunk of brie or camember cheese at pretty much the last minute.

MrB is a real BBQmeister. I think I'll lay down the challenge. :)

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream (2 tsp) washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: 2 x boiled eggs with Marmite soldiers made from one slice of HiLo followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon cup of black coffee, unusually for me I wasn’t hungry so no snack.
Dinner: 1/3 of a Pizza Express cook at home gluten free pizza (13.2g carbs), cauliflower, broccoli and radish salad and some pork scratchings followed by well it was supposed to be low carb cream tea. The low carb scones went into the oven in neatly cut circles, but all spread during cooking and joined together! They browned nicely on top but remained quite soft in the middle! I ate one with raspberry chia ‘jam’ and cream. It put me in mind of a crustless Bakewell tart, very tasty as it turned out :hungry:

Edit I put 2/3 instead of 1/3 of the Pizza. Put right now!

Hi all, back home now so will start eating and testing tomorrow. No solid food today but I guess an almond milk latte from Starbucks would count. Genuinely beginning to wonder if I am becoming a little too picky about what I will eat. I am now really phased if I have not chosen all the ingredients myself and supervised the preparation. Basically I would rather fast for a day or 2 than eat food someone else has bought or cooked.

That's what I tend to do! Also considering adding halloumi, too.

Wow that is a very reasonable carb count for a ready made pizza. May have to give this a go.
I added some mushroom as it was just a Marguerita, the base was very acceptable, good for a lazy night cooking. Blood sugar was only up 0.1 2 hours post meal, so happy with that :)

Welcome back it’s a difficult one to deal with but not always easy to avoid eating completely in situations like this. Always good to be back and in control again!
