What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

@Chook Archie is not only fabulous to look at, he’s an absolute star! I’ve met Medical Alert dogs before who have been specifically trained to pick up particular diseases and low bg but he’s done it all by himself. What a legend. What breed is he?

@Annb hope you manage ok today with your bad feet. Could you perhaps keep some nuts in a more accessible cupboard in case of times like these?

You're quite right, I have bad feet (naughty, naughty feet, they do things I don't give permission for). I should keep nuts more accessible but the only ones I could easily get to were salted peanuts (Em's 2nd favourite after salted cashews) but I didn't even think of them - they would have been better than what I did have (still not confessing that!).

Evening all.

Gorgeous dogs @Chook and Archie is a star!

Looks like being an impromptu OMAD day today. Late lunch after an all morning offsite meeting with my team. Lamb souvlaki meat, tzaziki and halloumi which they let me have in lieu of bread/fries/salad.

Off to an appointment at the gym shortly - weights workshop and will be too late to eat by the time I’m home.

Here's my other one - cant leave her out - 11 years old and she still thinks she's a puppy

Lovely dogs all. Em has a golden lab who is very patient and well behaved with the children. Lovely dog. She also has this huge cross Newfoundland - just over a year old and weighs more than No 2 son, who has to walk him, of course. I think the dog takes No 2 son for a run, in fact rather than the other way round. He also loves taking a bath in warm water which often happens because he gets very muddy and so bath water is left in the bath for him and he comes in from a late run and jumps straight into the bath. Not quite so keen on cold sea water though. His Newfie ancestry hasn't quite passed on the right message.

Something odd about our family - people and animals are all a bit odd/mad.

@ archie you must tell your mum that clever brave heroic hypo-alert actions deserve extra treats. And bone broth. And cuddles. Because they do.

foodwise it has been a v strange day.

b: bone broth. Forgot the hot choc. I know! Bizarre!
L: then i had to go out at midday, and completely forgot to eat lunch before going.
The person I was meeting with had decided that going to Costa was a brill idea (she wanted one of their toasted sarnies and a medium hot choc with cream).
By this time I was peckish and had a bag of their ‘protein nuts’ and got lured in by something called a ruby hot choc.
In my innocence I was expecting a small hot choc, with a red/brown tint. Oh no. Lol.
This is what arrived
upload_2020-1-30_17-19-16.jpeg

Almost tasteless, and utterly bland. I left most of it.
Thank heavens for nuts, eh?
Apparently it is new for Veganuary, and plant milks have no extra charge this month.
But i haven’t a clue whether what I was given was plant or dairy.
Either way, v disappointing.

D: will be steak.

@Chook your hounds are GORGEOUS

3 meals today as daughter wanted encouragement to get up early and finish her essay so I said I’d make us both breakfast.
B: Poached eggs, bacon and avocado. Black coffee
L: 2 h/b eggs mixed with h/m mayo and a dash of hot sauce, in iceberg lettuce wraps.
D: the pheasants which have been hanging in the garage. I used this recipe https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/pheasant-braised-leeks-cider-apples?utm_source=app which I think is the one @maglil55 suggested. Didn’t put booze in it, used h/m chicken bone broth for the liquid. Didn’t eat any of the apple. Followed their suggestion for a side dish https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/celeriac-cavolo-nero-colcannon-thyme-bacon-crumb?utm_source=app this was very nice and I’d definitely have it again ( didn’t do the sourdough breadcrumbs, considered a slice of Livlife but didn’t bother in the end)

@Goonergal that lunch sounds good. Hope the gym goes well.

oh wow you are a nice mum making breakfast for your daughter, hope her essay goes well.

2 x Sencha teas (800 mls) .2 rise at 2 hrs not what I'm looking for; 2 x pints Assam with almond milk .3 drop after 2 hrs - ok; slice belly pork and some cheddar at 2.30 - .2 drop after 2 hrs (there were 2 x 800 mls TWAM in there) -ok; 2 slices from the Christmas gammon, 2 mushrooms, garlic mayo and halloumi chips this evening. I liked the tea and garlic mayo.

@Chook lovely dogs and so impressed by Archie’s diagnostic talents.
@DJC3 well done dealing with the pheasants and producing what sounds like an amazing meal
.@Goonergal good luck at the gym a weights workshop sounds challenging
@Rachox jealous of your hols - sound great
@Brunneria im not a hot choc fan and the Costa one looks truly yuk!
@Annb sorry to hear about your feet and increased disability today it does sound difficult and hope you manage to get out shopping tomorrow for some low carb options
@Quinn1066 phew it still sounds very hot over there!
@Winnie-the-Pooh hugs heading over
@PenguinMum hope you source your cauliflower rice
@SlimLizzy good news about your shoulder hope it continues to improve
Hungry day today -always is when Im lucky enough to manage to start the day with a swim - which I did today. Achieved a record 50 lengths this morning - usually I reach 41 or 43 if lucky and then get incapacitated with calf cramp which stops me in my tracks - but it seems to be really improving recently long may it continue! Meant spent 50 mins in pool wonderful treat for me.
Breakfast two boiled eggs with half a chaffle
Lunch a fair few hm lc seeded crackers - made first batch for ages mid am - with celery and tin of sardines in olive oil and a bit of cheese followed by coffee and some 100% chocolate hc buttons.
Dinner large piece of salmon in lemon butter with cauliflower cheese with glass of dry white followed by hm lc lemon and lime mousse

going for 38 degrees today, at least the 34 degree day and today's 38 helps the paint dry and allows me to have my window open to air out the fumes. As they are not helping my asthma or pneumonia.

I think you’d like the celeriac colcannon, I know you’re a celeriac fan too.
I went to Asda today, but same story here - only the semi skimmed Lacofree milk available, so I didn’t bother.
Glad the swimming went well and no cramps. 50 mins is really good going

My Iceland hasnt had cauli rice for a couple of months. Anyone else found the same? Tesco has similar frozen packs of 4 on their website but thats not in my local Tesco either. I think Asda do them too but its a bit of a jaunt for me so will wait to see what you good people advise. TIA.
I never buy cauliflower rice, I just buy a cauliflower and grate however much I need that day. The rest of the cauliflower keeps way longer than a bit of leftover storebought cauliflower rice.

Breakfast: Cheese and mushroom omelette, bacon, tomatoes, spudlite.
Lunch: Prawn and crab sandwiches.
Dinner: Steak and veggies, pan juice gravy.

Drinks: Black coffee no sugars, water.

We caught five feral cats in the traps out at the block, that's five less to breed up and destroy the native fauna.

It was! Only 4 in the group but the others are all about half my age LOL They obviously took pity on me as one of them offered to carry my weights back to the storage area at the end! Just having a tea with cream in lieu of dinner.

Day 4 of my holibobs.
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: cold bbq chicken with leafy salad and Wildings lamb crackling followed by LC carrot cake and cream.
Mid afternoon: raspberry phd bar and a Diet Coke.
Dinner at a restaurant: half a roast chipotle chicken with side salad and coleslaw in place of chips, the waitress said “I’ll mark your order potato allergy”! I got a little flag in my dinner! Followed by SF jelly with cream and LC chocolate granola.

PS I shared the coleslaw as it was a huge portion!

@Debandez Good luck with the house sale. How many projects have you done now?
Also nearly choked when the penny dropped ... Hubsta hahaha.
@Brunneria your dogs are so cute.
@jjraak @Krystyna23040 suspect portions are larger partly because we have bigger plates.
MrSlim has lost over 4 stone since we moved, due partly to increased activity, but also the dinner plates already in the house are smaller. Portion control by stealth.
I have a freezer story too. (Suspect there are many out there)
Before prediabetes was cooking, from the freezer, scampi and chips. Served up little golden nuggets in breadcrumbs with a few veg besides. First bite, horrible, literally spat it out, extremely pungent taste and slimy texture.
Had no idea what was on my plate.
Turned out to be garlic mushrooms.

This was when I realised glasses were no longer just for reading.

Back to today's food.
Breakfast, 2x CWC, nut granola, 2 scrambled eggs.
Lunch lettuce, radish and half a tomato. Ham and cheese. The end of a fresh baguette and one slice pain kapnor. Thought I was still hungry so had half an apple. Which reminded me I forgot to mention that yesterday Bad Lizzy! Weighed the Apple today. Was 180g. That's why only half. CWC
Teas in the afternoon.
Dinner mince with thin layer of potato slices on top. Cauliflower, carrots, little bit of cabbage. Yoghurt and raspberries. One glass of white wine.
Lemon tea.

Edited potato lives = potato slices.

I read a heart warming story about this beautiful dog who is born with some problem with his eyes . The breeder had kicked him out because of his eyes. He finally found a lovely owner. I adore this doggie

Edit :
That is the dog story

If it doesn't rain it pours. So can't use my washing machine till Monday.

Is it possible to just try replacing the washer/hose? If it's the connection twixt machine and plumbing, it only takes a moment, and requires no tools, other than a decent grip. Although final tightening might be best with mole grips or whatever.
