What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone on a wonderful quiet start here in the dark and dangerous north. It’s phlebotomy time this morning, I shall be playing Tony Hancock and in a surprise twist, Dr MacTaggart will be played by Floella Benjamin. I know, a member of the House of Lords pretending to be a doctor. We looked at all the festive foods on offer by M&S yesterday - how we laughed! Probably going to be sea kale and line caught crabs again unless we go for the cheaper option and order in from Fortnum’s. Art bit - moving along. Bin day today and it’s a double dip day - that garden bin feels heavy. Mrs Miggins has been playing Percy Thrower again. Have a wonderful day if you can. I shall drink koffy and then get off for my blood letting.

Hope visit went well and only half an armful, required... ;)

Uhtred of bebbanburg comes to mind with that pictures..mmhh.

Good morning everyone from a very wet part of The Brecks here in the Exotic East (phew, predictive text behaved there) I rolled the bin out in the dry last night since the local BBC weather girl predicted this - well, that one is a Cambridge born girl. JKP is currently still in bed but a cereal bar and tea are delivered - outside the room. Nespresso travel cups keep drinks hot for ages. JKP has found coffee still agreeably warm in Southampton when made and placed in said vessel here in The Brecks. No, no refills per Trigger's broom. @lindisfel enjoy your potato - you can take the boy out of The Fens ..... @dogslife I too hope the face to face appointment tomorrow goes well. Hugs for the fbg and the trim blowing off the conservatory. @alf_Josiah I'm sure Mrs A j's trifles are divine dahling, simply divine. @dunelm thanks for the latest edition of and addition to your art. Good news on the mini MOT. @gennepher more wonderful autumnal colours in today's creative. Thank you. @Annb hug for Neil and your obvious concern for him. @SlimLizzy winner for yourself and Mr Slim leaving food for the wildlife and working so hard to make the home you want and deserve, Any news on either the missing art or your grandchild? Paxlovid mouth seems to have gone but thanks be to God and those to whom He gifted the skills as the tablets seem to have worked. Fascinating Fitbit stats from before the pills and during. May not be accurate but the direction of travel clearly mirrors how I felt and how the symptoms virtually melted away. Have the best day available
Thank you

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all those who were constantly told in their childhood to do their laces up.

A 5.7 on that meter of deviousness, ah if we drop the decimal point 57 is not a prime number, shock horror.
.
Firstly a warm welcome to @Claudia 1961 to this to this thread, tucked into a corner on this useful site, me, me’s and myself do hope some of our postings bring a smile to your face.
.
Well fellow posters and painters, I do hope you are well. Today here in Tilehurst Towers the day is taking shape, with a highlight of being unsupervised at lunch time.
I would like to report Mrs J and myself had our covid jabs yesterday and we ha no after effects. Talking of after effects let’s hope our regular poster and decorator @dunelm survives his pummelling on his back pain course and the course issuccessful.
I have been asked to store an electric bicycle for 6 months in my top shed and given permission to use it. Mrs J bless her talons and fangs also is not best pleased about me using said bicycle, muttering something about bunny hopping up kerbs, broken ribs etc,etc etc, but is happy for said bicycle to stored here. One word temptation.
.
Stay safe all.

Enjoy the bike! But don’t forget to pedal! We did 25km on our rental bikes on our holiday. Loved going so far. Husband’s one was nearly flat batter on return as he had not used his legs much. It can still be exercise if you pedal!

A fan of them here, in the big city.
A whole swathe of electric offering, but the e-bikes was a revelation.

May even consider buying my own..mmm?

Cat &Fox

Midnight (cat) appears to be getting exasperated over the comings and goings of the fox over a period of a couple of hours...

I managed, somehow, to put these clips together back to front! So the latest time is first, and the earlier time is last!
I am not redoing it!

When the sparrows swoop in the garden, they are accompanied with Mrs Bluetit, Mr GreatTit, Mr Robin, Little Dunnock, and the two new blackbirds (a pair, male and female). But a new male blackbird has entered the picture, who has intentions of stealing the Mrs Blackbird for his own. So there is a lot of chasing, and swooping across the garden by Mr Blackbird and the newcomer blackbird. Mrs Blackbird does not appear to have a choice in the matter...

Creative is a painting of autumn in Procreate.

Time for a cuppa!

It has been a clear cold night and now there is a white ground frost on the garden and fields around us. The trees have lost their leaves and suddenly winter is waiting on the doorstep.

Some people I know of have a very hard day to face.
Please Lord give them the strength to face it.
Shalom to you all
Derek

Beautiful art - enjoy that cuppa!

Good morning everyone from beneath a wonderful pale blue sunny sky here in the dark and dangerous north. Last up this morning and water has only just been poured onto the koffy in the cafetière - ah!, the aroma. Zoom conversations with my sister yesterday - she has new hair and it has never been washed! Not much just yet and I think that she looks like Prue Leith. Still whacked out with her latest round of chemo but the hair looks well stylish. Today, who knows but a walk in this sunshine is a must. Art bit - moving along. Have a marvelous day if you can. That koffy is ready now.

Enjoy that walk in the sunshine @dunelm
You might find that archway to another world on your walk...

Been a while since I visited the forums... things still very much up and down job wise and blood results due on Monday (have not been the cleanest living being over a busy summer)!

Lots if interesting changes - what happened to signatures at the end of posts? I had to find my stuff so that I could see what my bloods were when I was diagnosed (on a Ninja Foodi group on Facebook - and let's just say there are some... interesting... views to eating from various newly diagnosed diabetics. Have pointed a few this way (well to this site) for better info.

Anyway - sensor going back on this Sunday and I might document swipes!
* never mind - sig showing up!

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and a welcome to @Claudia 1961 to this quiet little back water of this useful site.
Bloods this morning were 6.4.
Here in Tilehurst Towers Mrs J and me, me’s and myself are hoping for an enjoyable morning stroll, lunch with friends and then most importantly an afternoon nap.

To those undergoing a not so pleasant time, I would like to offer a little advice, look for the silver lining in every cloud and nick it.
Stay safe all oh and welcome back @RFSMarch

Morning all from a chilly but bright and sunny day in this area of the Exotic East. Welcome back @RFSMarch, our very own favourite Bear, good to have you back on board. @lindisfel so thoughtful of you to remember and pray for those facing a hard day. @gennepher thank you the gifts of the video and latest autumnal creative. @dunelm thank you for sharing the latest development in that wonderful piece of art. Good news on your sister having hair and you being able to have a video conversation. I hope the results from yesterday are as you would want. @dogslife thoughts and prayers with you for today's face to face. I am so thankful for all the good wishes and prayers over the last week. I'm acutely mindful of how differently things could have turned out in the recent past or if unseen people hadn't done their jobs so well. Thanks be to God. Have a jolly, jolly day if at all possible but If not it is always ok not to be ok. Lying to yourself takes you nowhere good. Not every day is instagramable - or one of these alternatives.

You have your best day.

FBG 11.4. PIlls and tea took it up to 14.9 and eventually, after breakfast to 15.3 - that's even with full doses of insulin. But now - 4 hours later, it's down to 11.1. Probably due to my chesty cold, which is feeling a bit easier today.

Just received my first Christmas card in the post today! An ex-student of mine who is always organised and quick off the mark. I believe she always writes her Christmas cards in April. Kind of her to remember me after all these years.

I don't think it will be a very festive Christmas this year - I just worked out my budget for December after the hefty bill for my car this month and it looks as though I'll be in the red from 4th of the month. Not that what I eat in Christmassy terms, is important. Just that I do eat is sufficient. I have bought some small gifts for Em and the 3 great grandchildren but I think the adults will have to wait for anything until the new year - if then.

Just have to hope that the oil lasts out until January. I am conserving it fiercely at the moment.

Can hardly believe that Alistair will be 53 tomorrow. My sons' birthdays always make me feel even older.

What a tribute to your impact on that ex-student's life. Many happy returns for tomorrow Alistair. You may not be able to choose your parents but Alistair wouldn't have been able to select a better mum. God bless and keep you both.

Good afternoon all. Discussed my blood test results this morning face to face with a doctor. To save time I had tabulated my fb sugars since my increased Gliclizide on 2nd Aug., then during Covid and since testing _ve. He announced that we need to give the situation a "big push".( Yeh!) He has increased my Gliclizide 80mg tablets from 3 to 4 a day and my Metformin from 2x 750 mg to 2x 1000 mg a day for 3 months then retest. If that doesn't do the trick he has a new medication up his sleeve that works in a different way to those used so far. ( Something ending in-----zone). We were both also concerned about my liver tests particularly my Serum ALT which had increased to 138 but he reckons that would improve when my blood sugars decrease. Prescription was sent to the local pharmacy electronically but they usually take several days to get prescriptions ready so Monday or Tuesday next week? I have also requested more test strips as I have none left. The pharmacy tell me they received the prescription yesterday so it may be ready to collect tomorrow. At least it will give my fingers a break from testing! That's my update. Thanks again to those who wished me well. I appreciate you taking the time and wish you all well too. :)
