It didn't taste particularly bad but I don't think I'll bother with the rest of it because it didn't taste particularly good either. Just like eating a bowl of liquid turmeric. Nourishing, I'm sure. However, BG is 10.9 just now. That's lower than today's starting point (13.9).
But did it taste good?
It is a high standard. Norman the Beaver was a joy in Week 1. (That's not a spoiler if anyone has still to watch).
Brilliant looking carrot cakeBreakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and an Aldi protein bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a phd bar.
Dinner: tonight was the last night of my 12 week ’lifestyle course’ which I actually enjoyed in the end. It was a deal I did with my diabetes nurse in the spring. The Eatwell plate reared its head but even non low carbers thought the amount of carbs was way too high!
We all brought in food. There was plenty of salad, someone had cooked a potato free frittata. Someone else made some sugar free chocolate truffles then there was my low carb carrot cake, so I ate well!

Brilliant result!Evening all
Today's HbA1c result 35 mmol/mol, (down from 44 in September 2022). I'm so pleased.
Logging my food intake here, it must be said, helps to keep me motivated, especially when readings drift upwards due factors beyond our control like infection.
Ah, but tumeric is supposedly very good for you.It didn't taste particularly bad but I don't think I'll bother with the rest of it because it didn't taste particularly good either. Maybe that's why I made it with so much turmeric - I don't remember making it at all. BG has been dropping today - down to 4.5 but is now 5.4. Maybe that's the turmeric effect, who knows? Maybe I can think of some way of adapting it to make me more enthusiastic about it. Have to put my experimental thinking cap on.Ah, but tumeric is supposedly very good for you.
Can you use it to add to a soup or stew in an amount where it helps the flavour instead of kill it?Maybe that's why I made it with so much turmeric - I don't remember making it at all. I've added some small chunks of ham and some celeriac and some swede so it looks more like a stew than a soup now. I'll see how it looks/tastes tomorrow. Can you use it to add to a soup or stew in an amount where it helps the flavour instead of kill it?
There's an article here about Tumeric (and its active ingredient curcumin.I've added some small chunks of ham and some celeriac and some swede so it looks more like a stew than a soup now. I'll see how it looks/tastes tomorrow.
I've no experience of gout personally (although I know a number of sufferers) or tried this supplement. I'd rather have the cherries, tbh, but they're off the menu obviously.Has anyone tried this supplement?
active edge cherry active capsules for sale on Amazon
There doesn't seem to be anything in them that would cause issues. I have 2 neighbours who swear by them for keeping gout at bay. All they contain is freeze-dried Montmorency cherry powder and Vitamin C. Sugars, carbs etc is fine too.
Coffee and cream x 2
Coffee and unsweetened almond milk
Cheese and onion Omelette
Lamb Hogget, tomato and mint
Tea
