Morning all. Been racking my brains to remember what I had for lunch yesterday! My memory gets worse the older I get. I think I had hm soup with left over sausages chopped up in it and a tin of tuna with mayo for tea. @DJC3, I have no self control either! Hope everyone who is feeling poorly is on the road to recovery and hope all problems have an easy solution. Have a good day folks. :)

Advice please: I’m going to a charity Christmas fair at the Eden Project on Thurs. tickets cost £20 which includes a ‘light lunch’ and glass of wine. They’ve just emailed the lunch options. What on earth am I going to choose? View attachment 64428
Yikes! The lentil would do too much damage, the Ginster's pasty - no thanks anyway, which leaves the Tuscan bean concoction. If they haven't pureed the beans into it, it may be possible to eat some and avoid the beans. Take your own bread. If it's pureed.."Can I have 2 glasses of wine, please, since none of your options suit my dietary requirements?"

Tuesday 21 November - bed 8.1 FBG 7.7. @JenniferM55 - it sure is doing the rounds. The youngest grandson has gone down with norovirus, DIL has succumbed to it, one of the eldest's grandson's Guinea Pigs passed away (which resulted in a funeral service beside her mother & auntie Guinea pigs), and the rest of us are awaiting contamination!

B. TAG and NLCK seed and chocolate granola with sugar-free coconut milk and raspberries. Benecol dairy free.

L. 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ox tongue and Philly.

D. Ostrich burger with a cheese slice on a Portobello mushroom. Lettuce, tomato, 1/2 avocado, coleslaw, veggie salad. CC Little chocolate pot.

I've had a niggling sore throat which had progressed by evening. I plastered myself with Vicks, dosed with paracetamol, and hoped!20231121_190307.jpg

Breakfast: 3 of the mini crustless quiches from yesterday.

2nd meal: will be more cabbage and onions, cooked in some veg stock with bits of bacon and chunks of sausage added towards the end. That's the last of the cabbage chopped and ready to go so Neil will have to get some more for me tomorrow when he goes shopping.

The Scenic went in for its MOT this morning and Alistair has loaned Neil his car for today and tomorrow (so that I can get my leg bandaging done). I really don't know if it will pass the MOT. I do know it needs work on the electric windows but I don't think that is an MOT fault. Everything else seems to be working fine, but who knows what the mechanic will find?

Thanks for your speedy responses. @Annb @shelley262 @Antje77 (and another excellent BG result after the onions!) @PenguinMum ( your reply really made me laugh, I’m just not brave enough to do that though!)
I’ve already paid for the ticket so that’s a done deal and I can’t not go as I’m going with a friend for a day out and a bit of Christmas shopping. There are some good stall holders booked there apparently.
I expect the middle of the pasty will be mixed with lots of potatoes and onion, so unlikely to do my bg much good.
I think taking a lc snack with me might be the best option. I don’t want to not eat anything, I think that’d make my friend feel awkward and she might not enjoy her lunch if I’m not eating.
I’m glad they thought to email the lunch options, it was a bit of a shock but at least now I can be prepared. Thanks all.

If you are doing plenty strolling around, your bloods might perform more favourably than usual?

For me, none of those options would ever have been my choice (from a choice of everything), but, personally, provided it was gluten free, I might choose one of the soup options, and wing it. It's one day.

You're having such a difficult time @maglil55. Some of it may be that you are over-tiring yourself with all the running around you do after your family. I, for one, wouldn't criticise you for that, but couldn't you find a little time, somewhere, for yourself to relieve the pressure? Hug for your grandson with the :arghh: noro-virus. Miserable for everyone but I'm sure he'll bounce back. Problem is to stop it spreading, if possible. :doctor:

@DJC3 - Allegedly this is going for £75 in Sainsbury's at the moment. I haven't seen it myself (haven't been in Sainso's this week), but it came up in one of the related FB groups:

In order to be on-topic-ish, we had some fab pork chops this evening, cooked in our new AF.

I thought the same re the Ginsters pasty. There are so many better ones here. At least it makes the decision to turn it down a lot easier.
I like the 2 glasses of wine idea!
Just read one of your later posts - I hope your sore throat doesn’t get worse, there does seem a lot if it about.

Gosh still lots of poorliness out there - sending hugs to everyone poorly or going down with a bug. I've had a hearing problem for last few weeks- no pain or feeling poorly both blocked with wax - but local surgery won't syringe so paid for a private syringe today and wow I'm now able to hear again yay! Mum developed severe deafness with age so was a concern for me. The person syringing did a check on my ears and one has some possible issues developing but I'm happy my hearing is restored!
no breakfast just small glass of kefir as out early, travelled to nearest city for syringing and shopping
L whilst out two boiled eggs and small pack of mixed nuts
D hm chilli con carne and LC garlic bread with glass of red wine followed by LC crumble and cream.

It’s a disappointing choice isn’t it? I’m assuming there’ll be some lovely local food producers there so I might just buy a load of cheese and olives as I stroll.

B- boiled eggs mashed with butter.
L- the liver from yesterday’s chicken, fried in butter, a couple of Edam ‘crackers’ and way too many almonds. DGF Crimbo Crumble.
D- Rump steak ( the last of the defrosted freezer steaks) from local ‘pastured for life’ beef farm. Garlic mushrooms and spinach. Followed by Montezuma’s Absolute Black with almonds.
@Annb fingers crossed for the MOT, my car has cost me a small fortune this year, everything seems to be wearing out at once. IMG_3699.jpg

Wednesday 22 November - bed 7.9 FBG 6.9. I have now succumbed to a lurgy. Just a cold, thankfully. Eldest grandson has a tickly cough and sore throat. Younger one is on the last day of his 48 hr norovirus quarantine. I am getting a kind of rest @Annb, as the "quarantine" meant no journey out to transport him to basketball or tonight's swimming training. We're meant to be out for dinner this Friday and Saturday. What's the odds of us all being healthy again?

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast. One with coronation chicken, the other with Philly and ox tongue. Benecol dairy free. Only one grandson to transport today.

L. Nothing

D. The cure all for colds! Home made chicken soup, packed with veggies plus 15g of NLCK low carb pasta. Hubby was occupied for hours making stock and vegetable chopping/grating. 1 slice of SRSLY bread. Not had it yet, but CC little chocolate pot with raspberries will follow. Currently, I am easing my throat with a gin & zero lemonade.

Hubby also "kindly" woke me up this morning "because I was too quiet!" He pulled my arm! 20231122_182645.jpg

Garage hasn't done the MOT yet. They say the brakes need new parts, which will take a day or three to come. While they're at it they will fix the windscreen washer, which I didn't know was faulty and they'll fix the electric windows, which we did know about. Total is going to be in the hundreds. No choice but to keep going though.

Been out this afternoon visiting my friend's son's family in Stornoway. He arrived home from work while we were there. Lovely afternoon. We (my friend and myself) were invited to eat with them which my friend accepted but the only thing I could have eaten was a salad which was mainly broccoli (one of the vegetables I have discovered I can't eat) so just picked at bits of cucumber and tomato. No complaints, it's not their fault I am so difficult to feed.

I mentioned a few posts ago that I had bought some tins of jackfruit to see if I could use it. Neil and I both had tiny pieces (about 1/4 inch) to try it. Tasteless (also had some chemicals in the brine for some reason) and we both developed headaches after about 2 hours. Not an experiment to take any further, we are both agreed.

Just had a hard boiled egg to fill a gap and will now have a cup of tea.

Hope you're meds work @maglil55, take care of yourself. I feel almost like I did when I had Covid 18 months ago, I haven't tested, not sure if people do that anymore. It doesn't matter really as we're not going out, and I'll stop anyone from visiting until we're 'mended'. I'm just treating it as a bad cold. I'd really appreciate a good night's sleep though ;).

At 2 different times in the morning had a chaffle topped with cream cheese. Also had about 5 walnut halves.

1x coffee with cream

Dinner was Italian Meatballs (recipe from Diet Doctor) which was meatballs (125g mince beef) mixed with an egg and grated parmesan cheese, plus Italian seasonings, sauteed then baked on a bed of chopped tomatoes from a tin, served with sauteed mushrooms, and swede chips.

Five med strawberries with thick double cream.

2 squares of 90% Lindt chocolate, 5 pecan halves.

Carbs roundup, approx. 19.5g.

Hugs for all suffering illness, recovering from ops, unable to make sensible food choices or enriching garages. My venerable 19 y.o Range Rover (retirement present to me from me, classic shape imho) passed its MOT within my budget. Food today veered twixt worrying and outcome fine but the journey was interesting. Without Libre I'd never have known the full story.
Tea and water then 2 baybybels to take tablets
Almond milk latte (Nespresso) with usual syrup and cinnamon
Srsly large roll with cheese and 1/2 bag salad leaves - the roll ingredients worry me but freezer space needed and my bg fell by .4
Main meal was the fun journey. By 2 hrs bg was back to 4.7. Look at that plate of food for LC (or nutrition) - sprouts, fried roast potatoes, sausages (Morrisons Old English) random Chantenay carrot. Mostly cooked Sunday and refrigerated. Tommy K - squirted later - was Dr Will’s. Sausages are an item of food I have serious doubts about but I wanted to make life easy for JKP as Tuesday is squirrels for granddaughter. The things we do for love :D That table cover has to go - I would do anything for love but .....
