I did it with sprouts and starch-resistant mash. Whereas it wasn't inedible, it was hugely disappointing.I'm doing pork belly tomorrow. Let's see how it goes.
I know you like sprouts @IanBish. Was it the starch-resistant mash that was disappointing?I did it with sprouts and starch-resistant mash. Whereas it wasn't inedible, it was hugely disappointing.
All three, really. The belly pork was dry. The sprouts, despite being fresh, were quite tasteless. And the mash didn't taste much like mash. I realise that this could all be due to a lack of smell (and taste) due to my recent Covid infection. However I'll write this meal off as a bad job.I know you like sprouts @IanBish. Yes, I believe it can take some time for your sense of taste and smell to recover @IanBish following a bout of COVID infection. All three, really. The belly pork was dry. I find pork belly best if very slow cooked first, then finished with a rub of some spices and a blast of heat to crisp up the edges. Sprouts aren't naturally in season at the moment, and they are breeding flavour/bitterness out of them. Try cooking them then blitzing with good glug of cream and and some grated parmesan so it's a bright green mash/puree. Or parboiled them then roast themI did it with sprouts and starch-resistant mash. Whereas it wasn't inedible, it was hugely disappointing.

Yes, I completely agree @DJC3. Until recently most asparagus available here in London was grown in Italy @DJC3 but this week's bundle was imported from Peru; a pleasant treat, but it can't match the flavour of English asparagus.B- scrambled eggs and asparagus ( imported obviously so nothing like our home grown in early summer, however if had a
