Today for lunch I did a sirloin steak, with broccoli, green beans and a couple of thrice-cooked potatoes (par-boiled, fried in bacon fat, and finished off in the steak juices). I also did fried mushrooms, but they didn't fit on the plate, so I had those separately.

Not going to the ILs for tea this Sunday, as I have a cold and I don’t want to give it to them, so no Jaffa cake! :wideyed:
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and another carb killa bar.
Dinner: egg mayo on a low carb roll with coleslaw.

Edit for typo

A couple of black coffees this morning.
Lunch was avocado with prawns and chilli mayo followed by a DGF Crimbo crumble.
Dinner was a roast: chicken with cauli cheese, buttered cabbage, a large mushroom, airfried bacon and a sausage. The sausage was Waitrose no 1 Cumberland. 0.4g carb each and very tasty.

My Middle Eastern friends twisted my arm to have one piece of Baklava with Turkish coffee. Although only 80 calories and 9 g net carbs it did raise my BG level more than I would have liked (to 7.2 from 4.8). I do not intend any insulin for the rest of the day, so I'll see if my BG goes down during the evening.
I can't say I'm surprised that baklava played havoc with your blood glucose levels @jape.
Was that the first time you'd tried this luxurious Middle Eastern delicacy?

Looks yummy @IanBish. I only have 1 roastie and I never eat the yorkies. In fact, when the chef started my plate he said, oh you never have yorkies do you!

B-scrambled eggs and avocado
L- toasted l/c bread with h/m mackerel pate. Do you recognise the bread @LivingLightly ( if you can see it under the slab of butter!)

D- pork in mushroom and white wine sauce with airfried veg ( courgette, red pepper, broccoli and mushrooms). I’m doing sober October but I don’t think the wine in the sauce counts as all the alcohol was cooked off.

I do prefer it toasted with lots of butter ( as you can see!) I find it a bit dry and ‘bitty’ otherwise. I’m grateful for the recipe though, thank you. It’s lasted A long time in the freezer, I just take a slice out now and again when I’m in the mood for a hearty meal.

I have had Baklava many times before. However, I do not keep it at my home because of it being diabetic unfriendly. As expected, after a few hours my BG did fall to a light hypo (without any insulin) that necessitated chewing a glucose tablet. Oh, the joys of diabetes!

Yesterday (Sunday) my food consumption was an absolute disaster on all counts (calories, fats, carbs, proteins, sodium and potassium). After my second meal, I noticed that BG has surged to over 9.I injected some insulin resulting in a hypo in the early evening. Then I ate an apple that solved the problem. At 1 o'clock this morning I was awaken by my Libre - another hypo! I can deal with hypos during the day, but hypos at night time or the early hours of the morning is quite scary. That's the reason why I no longer inject any insulin at bedtime.

Hard boiled eggs, tomato salsa on LC toast
Argentinian prawn, cauliflower rice, peas, carrots, roasted onion and garlic toast
Apple, raspberries, macadamia nuts
Coffee with 10% cream, hot lemonade
(macadamia nuts seem diabetic and CKD friendly, but from a calorie perspective they are a horror story)

Long day on the ferry back to the Netherlands starting early.
Rather vile coffee brewed in front of my tent. I didn't bring enough ground coffee with me so I bought something random at a supermarket.
Definitely bought the wrong brand so I've been suffering for 3 days. Very much looking forward to tomorrow morning, the English stuff will be ceremoniously binned and I'll finally have some decent coffee.

On the ferry I had various pieces of keto cake bought yesterday at the Keto Bite place in Frinton, some chorizo crisps given to me by a friend (very nice, thanks!) and some cashews.

Came home at about 8:30 pm expecting to have a cold slice of bread or such for dinner.
Instead, my neighbour asked me if I had eaten already when I came to pick up my dogs, and plated me a meal of brussels sprouts, cubed bacon, fried potatoes, and a beer and whisky.
Most of the potatoes went to the dogs, but without a prebolus this wasn't a good idea from a diabetes point of view according to my sensor.
It fed the soul though, which may be more important sometimes, and I still had very little carbs over the day after all.
