A strange eating day today. Yesterday went to the farm that sells raw milk (for Mr. Outlier) and also bought the treat of a pot of raw cream. So today started with 3 coffees and cream. Sublime! Then brunch of my usual plain Greek yoghurt, plus some of the fatty/gristly bits off the remains of yesterday's roast beef joint (from the same farm) as Mr. O. doesn't like that sort of thing and I don't mind it - plus I hate waste. Then for our afternoon walk we went round a very small very pretty town which includes an excellent butcher next door to a very upmarket Deli. And so after some purchases from the butcher, we accidentally went into the Deli, and there was a HUGE selection of regional cheeses. Nice lady serving shaved off various samples for us to try, and yes we did buy two different types of British cheese before we could stop ourselves. Now I am having a mug of Bovril with a slosh of cider vinegar to tide me over until pre-dinner assorted nuts, followed by a vaguely Mediterranean creation made with aforementioned leftover beef cut up small, with peppers, courgettes, aubergine, leeks, olives, olive oil, garlic, various herbs and a dash of cayenne. After this I will have my new daily treat of a couple of pieces of 100% dark chocolate.
Not a wine week. But have revived something from Weightwatchers of many years ago, when you have a glass of water (fizzy in my case) and a teaspoonful of spirit (brandy in my case) added on top. The spirit stays on top of the water so you taste it all through the drink.
