Thanks @shelley262 To be honest the lifting is easy - think I could easily fireman's lift her everywhere. Main danger is melting- absolutely tropical ATM keeping her warm. Other issue is the awful TV she wants to watch in the lounge (very hard not to see our TV) quite rude to say I can't stand being in the same room as anyone watching thatCor those grandchildren will keep you busy for several years ahead!
Look after yourselves both of you and hope that you are lifting MIL in right way - watch those backs of yours.
Main issue re my mum tbh is the distance we live away from her - it is more of a time pressure balancing the responsibilities and like you best way to manage post operative is probably staying with us if it’s practical.
Hope mobility returns for your MIL soon and that the antibiotics help Julie get better too.
Evening all
I’m nearly at the end of my week of 30hr fasts, thank heavens. I’m going to have to find a compromise.
3 coffees with cream and a few teas with almond milk throughout the day.
Luckily I was busy - taking stuff to the dump and several trips to the charity shop in my trusty shopping trolley ( no parking so had to lug it all) - good exercise.
D: turned out to be IP chicken korma as the chicken portions hadn’t defrosted enough. ( intended to have aDD recipe) Cauli rice and spinach with it, then IP custard with some garden raspberries I found in the freezer.
@Goonergal you were doing well with cutting down on the chocolate - has it started creeping up again? You have my sympathies.
@shelley262 you have a pretty manic schedule these days, hope you’re still finding time for your meditation
Off back to Cornwall tomorrow for a couple of months. Not looking forward to the drive.
I’m with you on the heat needs and dire tv taste of elderly relatives!! Our boys turn up in t shirts and shorts at Christmas just to survive the heat needed for mum. I’m seriously thinking of investing in a heated throw I’ve got a friend who now wraps up her dad in one as she can’t function at the heat her dad needs! Saw them for sale in Lakeland thought I’d research them to keep th3 rest of us cool! Thanks @shelley262 To be honest the lifting is easy - think I could easily fireman's lift her everywhere. Hope it turns out well. I really like the idea - just flaxseed and water. An amazing crust but too wet inside. Internet seems to be split about 50/50 success/failure. We make crispbreads. If it goes well for you please pass on tips. We grease the tin with lard and have oven hot but anything else we could do would be helpful.Mrs No6 is currently making a flaxseed loaf!

Interesting reading @shelley262 and @maglil55 trying to manage their own care alongside wider family responsibilities. MIL came out of hospital this afternoon and is with us - basically needs 2 of us to lift her from loo etc. Julie finally went to doctor and has been given antibiotics - that is 3 out of 3 times her mum has been in hospital. I had an OMAD day and would have been less hungry had I not eaten the meal
Breakfast: - Lots of tea - Needs a serious rethink of IF/No breaky routine - alarming numbers coming up ( 5.5ish is alarming - especially for starving)
Dockey : Waitrose americano with soya cream
Lunch : Nothing MIL arrived and appetite strangely vanished
Mid Afternoon: Tea - just to mix it up a bit; dog walk; tea - found out I am going to be a grandfather again; facetimed huge Soton granddaughter - in yr old clothes at 3 months - very, very long
Evening meal: Belly pork, celeriac and cauliflower mash, sprouts, wind - rude not to give guests a present
Soton girl takes after dad and mum. Dad is 6ft 4 and Mum 6 foot. All our boys are 6 ft 4 or slightly taller and quite/very broad. Bgs may or may not be up, running average is fine but it was last time then lab numbers were way off.Gosh it’s all going on in your household too Ian. Sounds stressful - are you sure this isn’t what’s putting your fbgs up?
Hope the antibiotics kick in soon for Julie and MIL is up and about soon. Must be difficult for everyone.
Congrats on grandfatherhood again. Sounds like Soton granddaughter takes after her dad - you did say all your boys were over 6ft.
I experience numbers rising during the morning if I skip breakfast, it’s very strange and it’s what keeps me from trying any long term fasting!Interesting reading @shelley262 and @maglil55 trying to manage their own care alongside wider family responsibilities. Congratulations on the news. I would start to worry a great deal when you see similarities with me - be afraid, be very afraid..Just re read your post and another similarity jumped out at me, I am going to be a nanny again, grandchild number 4 will arrive in April
I know ziggy - I wasn't overjoyed. I'm still getting low drops but nothing like that. Lowest today was 3.7 but it came up again. I've increased my water intake as I feel I've not been as diligent with that lately either. Usually I drunk pints of it but been less lately.Hello all,
It's midnight here, returned from work about an hour ago.
Breakfast: Steak tartare with mayonnaise and two fried eggs.
Lunch: Nothing.
About 5 p.m. at work: A salad (lamb's lettuce, feta, cold chicken breast, raw mushrooms) with Caesar's dressing, a small piece of low-carb carrot cake.
Very late dinner: A small serving of beouf bourguignon and cauliflower mash with butter and cream. A glass of red wine.
@maglil55 -- These are quite some low blood sugar numbers -- can't say I have seen numbers in the twos myself. Please take care.
@ianpspurs and @shelley262 -- Hope your mother/mother-in-law start feeling better soon.
@Tori71 -- Erythritol is not quite as sweet as xylitol -- it only has about 70 percent of sweetness of xylitol or sugar. So, if you want the same level of sweetness, you probably need to use about 50 percent more. Alternatively, you could just use the same amount, but the food will taste just a little less sweet.
