What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Cor those grandchildren will keep you busy for several years ahead!
Look after yourselves both of you and hope that you are lifting MIL in right way - watch those backs of yours.
Main issue re my mum tbh is the distance we live away from her - it is more of a time pressure balancing the responsibilities and like you best way to manage post operative is probably staying with us if it’s practical.
Hope mobility returns for your MIL soon and that the antibiotics help Julie get better too.
Thanks @shelley262 To be honest the lifting is easy - think I could easily fireman's lift her everywhere. Main danger is melting- absolutely tropical ATM keeping her warm. Other issue is the awful TV she wants to watch in the lounge (very hard not to see our TV) quite rude to say I can't stand being in the same room as anyone watching that:arghh: Very unlikely to be the last of the grandchildren - just no more girls please.

Evening all
I’m nearly at the end of my week of 30hr fasts, thank heavens. I’m going to have to find a compromise.

3 coffees with cream and a few teas with almond milk throughout the day.

Luckily I was busy - taking stuff to the dump and several trips to the charity shop in my trusty shopping trolley ( no parking so had to lug it all) - good exercise.

D: turned out to be IP chicken korma as the chicken portions hadn’t defrosted enough. ( intended to have aDD recipe) Cauli rice and spinach with it, then IP custard with some garden raspberries I found in the freezer.

@Goonergal you were doing well with cutting down on the chocolate - has it started creeping up again? You have my sympathies.
@shelley262 you have a pretty manic schedule these days, hope you’re still finding time for your meditation

Off back to Cornwall tomorrow for a couple of months. Not looking forward to the drive.

Drive safely DJC3

I’m with you on the heat needs and dire tv taste of elderly relatives!! Our boys turn up in t shirts and shorts at Christmas just to survive the heat needed for mum. I’m seriously thinking of investing in a heated throw I’ve got a friend who now wraps up her dad in one as she can’t function at the heat her dad needs! Saw them for sale in Lakeland thought I’d research them to keep th3 rest of us cool!

Mrs No6 is currently making a flaxseed loaf!
Hope it turns out well. I really like the idea - just flaxseed and water. An amazing crust but too wet inside. Internet seems to be split about 50/50 success/failure. We make crispbreads. If it goes well for you please pass on tips. We grease the tin with lard and have oven hot but anything else we could do would be helpful.

These are the times I regret having so many walls knocked out:arghh:

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: cold roast chicken with cauliflower, broccoli and sweet pepper salad followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: raspberry chia pudding and black coffee.
Dinner: tuna melts with mixed veg and celeriac chips followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.

Interesting reading @shelley262 and @maglil55 trying to manage their own care alongside wider family responsibilities. MIL came out of hospital this afternoon and is with us - basically needs 2 of us to lift her from loo etc. Julie finally went to doctor and has been given antibiotics - that is 3 out of 3 times her mum has been in hospital. I had an OMAD day and would have been less hungry had I not eaten the meal:arghh:
Breakfast: - Lots of tea - Needs a serious rethink of IF/No breaky routine - alarming numbers coming up ( 5.5ish is alarming - especially for starving)
Dockey : Waitrose americano with soya cream
Lunch : Nothing MIL arrived and appetite strangely vanished
Mid Afternoon: Tea - just to mix it up a bit; dog walk; tea - found out I am going to be a grandfather again; facetimed huge Soton granddaughter - in yr old clothes at 3 months - very, very long
Evening meal: Belly pork, celeriac and cauliflower mash, sprouts, wind - rude not to give guests a present

Gosh it’s all going on in your household too Ian. Sounds stressful - are you sure this isn’t what’s putting your fbgs up?
Hope the antibiotics kick in soon for Julie and MIL is up and about soon. Must be difficult for everyone.
Congrats on grandfatherhood again. Sounds like Soton granddaughter takes after her dad - you did say all your boys were over 6ft.

Soton girl takes after dad and mum. Dad is 6ft 4 and Mum 6 foot. All our boys are 6 ft 4 or slightly taller and quite/very broad. Bgs may or may not be up, running average is fine but it was last time then lab numbers were way off.

I experience numbers rising during the morning if I skip breakfast, it’s very strange and it’s what keeps me from trying any long term fasting!

Hello all,

It's midnight here, returned from work about an hour ago.

Breakfast: Steak tartare with mayonnaise and two fried eggs.

Lunch: Nothing.

About 5 p.m. at work: A salad (lamb's lettuce, feta, cold chicken breast, raw mushrooms) with Caesar's dressing, a small piece of low-carb carrot cake.

Very late dinner: A small serving of beouf bourguignon and cauliflower mash with butter and cream. A glass of red wine.

@maglil55 -- These are quite some low blood sugar numbers -- can't say I have seen numbers in the twos myself. Please take care.
@ianpspurs and @shelley262 -- Hope your mother/mother-in-law start feeling better soon.

@Tori71 -- Erythritol is not quite as sweet as xylitol -- it only has about 70 percent of sweetness of xylitol or sugar. So, if you want the same level of sweetness, you probably need to use about 50 percent more. Alternatively, you could just use the same amount, but the food will taste just a little less sweet.

Today my body thought it was Aldi - well it was certainly not Cooperative. It is still not very special buy 5.25. When you decide listening to Faure's Requem in the dark is just what is required to improve matters, while wearing 3 heavy jumpers, things are challenging.
Breakfast: - Lots of tea - Needs a serious rethink of IF/No brekkie routine unless this is all due to buggy Mcbugface
Dockey : 1 Coffee and 1 tea with my fellow water second childhooders - soya cream in both obs; home and more tea - I was very cold and bg was outrageous
Lunch : Tea - gave up any plans for food and just rolled with the blows
Mid Afternoon: Tea - just to mix it up a bit; dog walk; Tea (no news of more grandchildren today - bit of a relief)
Evening meal: Hot chocolate with soya milk and raw organic gubbins with cinnamon was planned but may just be tea- think it was all vegan though
Plenty people have worse days and I can (hopefully) cheerily wave today bye in the rearview mirror tomorrow.

Hi all
Breakfast bacon, egg and mushrooms
Lunch trout, advocado, walnut, seeds and lemon mayo salad
Dinner chicken curry and three halloumi chips small glass of red wine followed by coffee and square of chocolate.
Not liking the grey wet days but busy with work so suppose easier to keep focused!

Evening all. On train on the way home from Manchester. Afternoon meeting was cancelled but changing train was too expensive so took the opportunity for some retail therapy. @DJC3 three separate branches of Hotel Chocolat had no tea. And I managed to get out of all 3 without buying any chocolate!

Lunch - much needed as hadn’t eaten since lunch/chocolate the day before so a 22 hour fast. Five Guys bacon cheeseburger with mayo.

Dinner - almost went back to Five Guys but settled for Nando’s next door instead. 3 plain wings and a plain leg with a sachet of mayo I brought with me.

Was still feeling hungry so picked up a 30g portion of cheese (WH Smith is now selling a few decent low carb on the run items) and a bag of salted almonds.

Really looking forward to getting home - been a long day.

I know ziggy - I wasn't overjoyed. I'm still getting low drops but nothing like that. Lowest today was 3.7 but it came up again. I've increased my water intake as I feel I've not been as diligent with that lately either. Usually I drunk pints of it but been less lately.

@Tori71 - I taste my mix to see if it is sweet enough. I like it less sweet now but tasting gives you an idea. Brings back memories of childhood when you get to lick the bowl

Evening everyone

Got to Cornwall finally - the last hour in torrential rain - par for the course here. Mr C had cleaned and polished and everything looked lovely so nothing for me to complain about. We popped to the local for a couple of Gin&sodas ( thanks so much @shelley262 for this recommendation I much prefer it to g&t now)
Then he cooked massive steaks he’d got from the brilliant local butcher. Served with fried mushrooms and a handful of leaves. Really nice steak from the butcher’s own herd. I’ll probably see a rise in fbg tomorrow because of the amount of protein, but it will be worth it. Glass of red with it too - perfick!

Earlier in the day - DD breakfast sandwich when I first got up.
A couple of coffees with cream on the journey and an Adonis bar.

@jayney27 I waved to you around 2:30. Congrats on imminent nannyhood again.

@ianpspurs I hope you feel better tomorrow, maybe eating a bit more would help? You don’t seem to be having much.

@ziggy_w kudos for your fab breakfast. Hope things calm down a bit at work for you.
