I'm getting a bit cheesed off with my morning readings. I know about dawn phenomenon and I know it took months to get it down last time but last few days it has been hovering 10.1 / 10.2 . It comes down pretty quickly during the day but I'm struggling to get into the 6's. Must admit I haven't been feeling great so it may just be some sort of bug lurking. Still back to school runs, watching grandsons, swimming lessons etc from tomorrow so we'll see if upping the activity gets a reversal. Certainly not going to doctor as I don't want the 'up your meds' solution.
Oh and I had a sherry glass of that chocolate red wine I mentioned the other day. It left a nice warm feeling. Port with a hint of chocolate......

Day 7

Breakfast and lunch: Nothing

Dinner: Smoked mackerel, mushroom and spinach fritatta with a green salad

Snack: Blueberries (I've run out of pomegranates)

Here's a weird question. After all that talk of all things cauliflower I'll be having mince tonight with steamed greens and cauliflower mash. Now you all know the trick to good mash is getting the water out of the cauliflower- has anyone ever tried using a hair dryer on it? (See told you it was weird. Sometimes I think too much!)

1 Scotch egg, boiled ham, coleslaw and pickled beetroot. about 12 grams of carbs. You gotta love a scotch egg on occasion!

Nope - definitely not thought about using a hair dryer on cauliflower before! I normally just drain it and let it stand with a teatowel over it for at least five minutes and if it still seems too wet when I'm mashing it I'll stir it over a gentle heat or tip it in to a wide dish and put it in the oven.

I leave mine in the colander for 5 minutes so that the excess water can evaporate (in the form of steam) which usually does the trick or sometimes then put it back into the saucepan and put it back over the heat to remove any more water. Imagine a hairdryer would do the same jobo_O
