What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

1pm half an ox cheek cooked in guinness and onion, but left the gravy and onion.
6pm goatsmilk yog with a teasp of strawberry jam stirred in.

Something upset my tum yesterday. I am not ruling out that indulgent icecream thing.

B. Coffee with cream
L. Mature cheddar, butter and a few olives
D. Cheese burger minus the bun

My treat today was a Twinings Nutty Chocolate Assam Tea.....they claim it tastes like Praline......my verdict....definitely taste the nuts and there is a nice cocoa hit....it was lovely with a drop of cream in it. Cheaper alternative to Hotel Chocolat's teaolat too....under £2 for 12 bags!

Will have to give that a go. Love the Teaolat.

B: Coffee with cream then coconut porridge with a few raspberries

L:bacon mushrooms and wilted spinach topped with poached egg. Sugar free jelly and cream

D: Roast beef, roast celeriac, broccolli and buttery greens.
Tried to make a low carb gravy using coconut flour - won’t be trying that again: truly terrible!!!

Snack mid afternoon as we ate late, few almonds and celery with cream cheese

@Mufflana I’m definitely going to hunt out that Twinings tea, thanks for the recommendation

@Goonergal , I’m really not a tea drinker, but am attracted by these tea bags made with cream. How ‘teay’ do they taste, and how chocolatey? They would be an expensive experiment for me? o_O

Hi @Rachox they don’t taste like tea. The chocolate taste is distinct but subtle and with a bit of double cream added a bit like a weak hot chocolate. Better if you let it brew for a while. You can buy single bags (individually wrapped) for 75p in Hotel Chocolat. Expensive for 1 teabag, but more doable as an experiment than buying the whole box.

Thanks. That sounds promising, we have a new branch of Hotel Chocolate opened recently, will see if I can get the individual one when I next go into the city centre.

Hi all.

A lot of eating going on today. Just as well I went to the gym before work.

Breakfast - none

Mid-morning. Had our monthly all day departmental managers meeting today. Took one of my chocolate olive oil cakes along (and a pot of cream). It was decided we should eat some of it around 10.30!

Lunch - tin of wild Alaskan salmon with baby leaf salad, a few baby plum tomatoes and mayonnaise. Oh and another slice of chocolate olive oil cake with cream.

Dinner - decided to ditch the planned chia pudding due to chocolate cake consumption so just a pan fried sea bass fillet with broccoli and 5 Hotel Chocolat 100% buttons.

Chocolate olive oil cake sounds delicious - did your colleagues know it was low carb?

My HC 100% choc buttons arrived today so lloking forward to a treat later. Haven’t worked out carbs per button or per 5 yet - do you have the figure at your fingertips?

Yes - they’re probably bored to tears of me talking about that! Bonus is that my boss is gluten intolerant so the almond flour suits her well!

5 Hotel Chocolat buttons = 1g carbs (0.2 per button).

Thanks very much.

By the way good luck with your HbA1c tomorrow: I’m sure it’ll be a great result, you seem to have such good control and your posts are inspirational.

Lunch scrambled eggs with salmon and advocado and half a slice of low carb bread followed by 2 pieces of 90% choc
Dinner bean pasta with bolognese sauce followed by chocolate olive oil cake and cream
@Goonergal how exciting about getting test results soon - hope it goes well I’d be very surprised if it didn’t I can feel a success post on the way?

I can usually include a gym visit in a fasting day, but then have a lot of hunger the day after. Also finding that bloods shoot up after a morning workout and take a while to come down, but then come right down, so you could well have dropped sharply.

Don’t want to count my chickens!

@shelley262 and @DJC3 you’re not selling the celeriac!
