What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

It’s very low carb, surely a tiny taste won’t harm you?! ;) What flavour did you choose?
Chocolate and hazelnut and salted caramel to get the offer - they both sounds delish, the problem is I suspect a tiny taste won't be enough!

Soya yogurt with raspberries
Garlic sausage sandwich with spinach, tomatoes, chilli and spring onions.
Homemade beef Madras with cauliflower rice and 4 popadoms

I'm behind again! @ziggy_w like you I came down with the dreaded lurgy hence my higher than normal BGs. Wondered why my arms were so sore after Aqua.
Monday
Bed 7.9 FBG 7.7
B. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream
L. Early - still on these Tesco GF Cumberland chipolatos with a fried egg , 2 rashers back bacon and I had one slice of the GF black pudding left.
D. Stewed beef with a veg mix. Done in the IP so it was very tender.
Was hungry later so had 6 walnuts as well.
Tuesday
Bed 7.6 FBG 7.8. Got a sore throat as well as achy arms and legs so back on first defence and paracetamol. Hit the heights of 9.2 thanks to DP.
B Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.
L. Once again the cheesy corned beef thingy - very comforting.
D. 2 chicken thighs and a drumstick air fried with a sour cream and chive dip, lettuce, 4 Santini tomatoes and a boiled beetroot. Halo Top mint and 6 raspberries.
Today - Wednesday. No idea yet.

Hello all.

@maglil55 -- So sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. It might have been the stress you've been through. I often find that I'll get a cold at the end of the semester, once the stress eases. Hope you get better soon.

@DJC3 -- Thanks so much for your comment. I enjoyed lunch very much and it was really easy to prepare. Scallops are a rare treat for me.

Today's meals:

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and xylitol.

Lunch: Roasted vegetables (eggplant, zucchini, mushrooms, bellpepper) in olive oil, Greek yoghurt, two scrambled eggs.

Snack: Way too many pecans (200g) covered in low-carb caramel (erythritol and cream).

Dinner: A small portion of kale and merguez. (The last meal was at 5:30 p.m. -- hope I won't get hungry again later.)

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream (carefully measured 2 tsp) washed down with a white coffee (still using almond milk to save calories and carbs)
Lunch: a kind of chicken Caesar salad, but I used raw cauli & brocolli in place of lettuce with chicken, Parmesan and Caesar sauce (no croutons of course!) followed by Greek yoghurt and blueberries.
Mid afternoon: orange chia pudding and a black coffee.
Dinner: kedgeree made with cauli rice, followed by strawberries, one scoop of vanilla Oppo and one square of Tesco 85% chocolate.

B: coffee and cream

L: mushrooms, halloumi and spinach sauteed in coconut oil and topped with a poached egg.
Slice of low carb chocolate olive oil cake with 1 dessertspoon of cream and 5 raspberries - heaven on a plate!

D: Diet Doctor Tex Mex beef stew - bland and boring tbh, wont bother to make it again.
5 Hotel Chocolate 100% buttons

@maglil55 hope you get over the dreaded lurgy soon and start to feel better.

@Rachox I love kedgeree, but hadn’t thought of doing it with cauli rice - great idea, that’s definitely on the menu soon.

I loved it before I had Diabetes and it took me many months into low carbing to think to make it with cauli rice! It’s just as good! :hungry:

When I was a shiney new member I scanned this thread and thought 'Oh My Days! These people eat so little, I'm going to starve!' I never thought that I would be joining you all in having a great, satisfying list of meals to choose from. Thanks for the fabulous ideas you all give.

Playing catch up - away on a short work trip. I must have the best boss in the world - she brought me a corned beef filled Lidl protein roll for our train journey!

@maglil55 and @ziggy_w hope you both soon feel better (and Ziggy, copying your style of posting so I can catch up without making a string of posts)

@Brunneria your observations on zero carbs are really interesting. Have often thought about trying it, but I do love veggies. Something to keep in the armoury for when things need changing up, though. Your chocolate mousse sounds good too.

@Guzzler agree. I used to read about fasting and think that people were mad and that I’d never be able to do it!

Tuesday. Lunch was corned beef salad with mayonnaise, followed by a late afternoon snack of said Lidl roll. Dinner in the hotel was ribeye steak with garlic butter and side salad. Then succumbed to rather too much of the Willie’s Pure Gold 100% chocolate I’d brought along in my ‘contingency’ food stash.

Yesterday. Ate a rare breakfast as our meeting schedule meant we might not get lunch. Hotel buffet, eggs, bacon and a sneaky (probably carby) sausage. No lunch, but meetings finished earlier than expected and had a bag of pork crunch on the train home. Dinner was pan fried sea bass fillet with sautéed onions, courgette and broccoli. Snack of some more Willie’s chocolate and some Montezuma’s Absolute Black with orange and cocoa nibs.

Hi all.

After the excesses of the past couple of days, a 23/1 fasting day today so no breakfast or lunch.

Dinner was Waitrose lamb kleftico with cauliflower cheese followed by 75ml Oppo chocolate and hazelnut ice cream with cream.

Hello all.

Still suffering from my cold -- it's actually been worse today then before, but definitely hope it's downhill from here. Blood sugars still okay, but not eating too much right now.

@Goonergal -- what a considerate boss. I still get offered cookies, chocolates and other sweets during meetings at work. Fortunately, the ketogenic diet makes it easy to skip food.

@Guzzler -- before diagnosis and switching to a low-carb diet, I used to get ravenous when not eating. Probably due to a blood sugar roller coaster. I agree -- I would never have been able to imagine skipping meals back then or only eating once a day.

Breakfast: One double decaffeinated espresso with cream and erythritol.

Lunch: Half a DD keto roll with butter and chicken breast.

Early dinner: Kale with merguez sausages, two heaping tablespoons of low-carb chocolate mousse with whipped cream, a glass of dry red wine, followed by another double decaffeinated espresso with cream and erythritol.

9am coffeesubstitute and cream
12pm 2x Maccies quarterpounders with cheese minus bun and no chips (was on the road and ravenous)
Then Mr B presented me with a Terry’s choc orange! Honestly, this man is a menace, and a chocolate supplier extraordinaire!
So of course i started nibbling, gently. It is half gone. :(

Have felt stuffed ever since, so don’t think i will need anything else.

I was just thinking along exactly the same lines as you all - that I didn’t really believe I’d be not hungry enough to skip meals but it’s true!

Nothing this morning except a couple of coffees.

Lunch was late, around 3pm: 3 rashers of bacon and 2 eggs. Chocolate olive oil cake afterwards

Not hungry for dinner but had a spoonful of Greek yoghurt with 5 raspberries, just to have with Metformin.

@Goonergal what a lovely boss! I was wondering how you’d got on with hotel food the last couple of days,

Busy day and forgot about food! Can't believe I would ever have been able to write that without being a keto eater.
B: nothing
L: not hungry but needed to take meds with food so small piece of vintage cheddar
5pm : Coffee with cream
D: again not hungry but needed more meds so low carb wrap and some smelly, oosy brie!

Found out today from physio and x rays that the arthritis is into my hip and along with the trapped neeve/disc issue that is the cause of the pain. Given crutches which are already helping. Hope to kick the painkillers etc asap as feel they will hold me backin weight loss which is now more important than ever to ease strain on joints.
Feeling positive though!
Trying @Brunneria corned beef thing this weekend after shopping arrives Sat!
