@maglil55 glad you posted about DD garlic bread, I was going to have a bash at it this weekend, please let us know how you tweak it.

Not too sure at the moment. It tasted fine and the texture when cooked was OK. It was just trying to form them into subs that was awkward as the mix was a bit crumbly yet it says not to overwork the dough. I reckon next time I'll use my Kenwood and the dough hook as that made a difference with the Fathead dough.

Hi all.

Definitely a feasting day today.

Breakfast - a rare one. Chocolate olive oil cake with cream. Well, had taken it to work and my best work buddy, who only comes to the office once a week, decided she was having a piece for brekkie. Would have been rude not to join her.

Lunch - bag of pork crunch and a peperami.

Dinner - fathead pizza without almond flour (just the mozzarella and cream cheese) with pepperoni topping. Pretty good, but a bit messy to eat. Followed by a small portion of lazy mousse and did someone mention Hotel Chocolat 85% batons?

Edited to add that the cake went down very well at work and provoked lots of discussion about low carb eating.

I’ve been ravenous today, all day, don’t know why.

B: coconut porridge with cream and raspberries

L: Smoked mackerel salad with avocado, rocket, spinach, olives and 3 cherry toms. French dressing made with raw apple cider vinegar

D: Butter chicken curry (from Real Meal Revolution book) with cauli rice. Quite a large portion but still hungry so just had @Goonergal ‘s easy mousse - rich and delicious and it’s done the trick - not hungry any more!

The low point of today was realising that it is coffee giving me stomach cramps, not metformin. Have avoided coffee for 3 days and felt fine, but had a cup of decaff earlier to test and got cramps an hour or so later. Boo!

High point was good fbg this morning (5.5: has been 6s and occasionally 7s recently) following a couple of spoonsful apple cider vinegar in water before bed last night as recommended by Jason Fung. It was easier to drink at night ( have previously tried in the morning and hated it) reminded me of the scrumpy we used to drink as students at Plymouth Poly. 10p a half pint, looked like dishwater with mucus in it. This looked much nicer but tasted similar.

@Goonergal glad your cake went down well, cake for breakfast is such a treat. I’m making it Thurs when we are having friends over. Hope they like it.

Bed 7.9 FBG 7.2 so still higher than usual but got through today without painkillers thankfully.
B.Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.
L. Very early before collecting No 2 grandson. A mix from M&S. 6 of their squid with cracked pepper, 6 mozzarella pearls, fresh anchovies, tablespoon of tuna with beans and red onion and one of these DD garlic breads without the garlic butter. Instead I put salmon pate on it.
D. A lazy dinner as I had both Grandsons to feed. M&S paprika beef with the one thing I did make - creamy celeriac mash ( and I still don't think it tastes like celery. It was yummy).
2 squares Lindt 90%.

The celeriac mash I cut slices of the celeriac. Trimmed it and cut into chunks. Salted and steamed until tender. Mashed with a hand blender the added a corner of butter and a dash of cream. A quick minute in the microwave when I was dishing up. Lovely for soaking up the paprika sauce.

Yum all your meals sound great! Must get celeriac again - not had in a while and also need to make a chocolate olive oil cake!
Did feel a hungry day for me too.
Breakfast bacon and egg fried in coconut oil
Lunch pieces of cheese and 5 100% choc buttons
Mid pm one piece of 90% choc maybe should have had more lunch
Dinner out at local pub sirloin steak, salad with mayonnaise and mushrooms and glass red wine. Waitress funnily when I said I couldn’t have a pudding said that “we do do vegan and dairy free puddings”! Funny as just eaten a rare steak must be a strange vegan! Low carb puddings not on offer maybe one day .......

Well done you very lucky with your gp too - you’re doing great keep going..... you’ll feel much better without The Metformin as it’s been upsetting your digestive system - diet much better if you can keep to that route.

Peadair your GP sounds great, and your weight loss since Christmas is brilliant. Looks like you are really getting on top of it. Congratulations.

Lucky you indeed. You have a GP like mine and they are a rare breed.

B - boiled egg and then 40g 90% dark chocolate - a strange brekkie for sure, but was running out of usual food due to grocery delivery not arriving until this evening - it was filling though!
L - another boiled egg, 1 oatcake with a bit of feta on, grated courgettes fried with garlic and some CHICKEN - my body is saying being veggie/pescatarian and just fish/eggs/tofu for protein isn't cutting it right now - there was some cooked bbq chicken pieces for the kids in the fridge so I ate some and surprised myself by how much I liked them!
D - egg mini muffins with feta and tomato, coleslaw and avocado
snack - 2 teaspoons almond butter
Yesterday was a disaster with too many oatcakes and snacking (monthly hormones I think) and I felt rubbish this morning with a fbg of 7 - was all shaky and craving carbs - so I've loaded up on eggs (and a bit of chicken) to fill me up - it has helped enormously and I feel back in control today, but a wake up call to me that 'just one more oatcake won't hurt' is a very, very bad idea.

I have just been such a happy little piglet. I've just had 2 slices of wheatgerm Hovis 11.2g per slice with Venison pate and some red wine to whoosh it down.
Feel like a very naughty child having eaten something as outrageous as bread.
Madam BG will almost certainly stop her go-slow and kick up a fuss. And do you know what? for once I'm not bothered.

Hello all.

Didn't get to post yesterday as I had a hard time getting this website to load decently. Anyone else have similar problem?

Feeling better today and have cut down on medication. Thanks for kind wishes, @Goonergal.

Really well done, @Peadair O Brionn.

Tuesday ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol. Have now measured blood sugars half an hour to 40 minutes after having the coffee and hardly a blip (results: - 0.3 mmol, +0.1 mmol and +0.2 mmol), so definitely better results than with xylitol. Also two wiener sausages.

Lunch: Four squares of 85% chocolate.

Dinner: Tuna salad (canned tuna in spring water, celery and mayonnaise), 60g of Explore Cusinese Mung Bean Edamame fettuccine with pesto Genovese.

Later at night: A glass of dry red wine.

@maglil55 -- I found I had to up the amount of hot water in the recipe (I use at least twice the amount stated in the recipe). If I don't add enough, the bread doesn't become fluffy.

@ziggy_w Thanks for that. Will try more water. It was just forming them that was difficult otherwise they were fine with a nice crispy outside.
I had issues yesterday with the forum. Tells you to login but when you try to you get an error message. It has happened before and I had to clear the cache and reset everything. Took a while but started to work again eventually.
